Hey, I'm Lorenzo and I really like Mk2 Golfs. I live in Cape Town, South Africa. On my channel you will see me documenting the progress on my cars, drag racing, road runs with some featured cars from time to time. New videos coming soon.
Yo yo yo, the car looks so good man. Just realized it's been a while since I left a comment😅. Been contemplating buying a golf for a while now. Maybe a mk2 cli... but car looks really really good man 👏 👏 👏
@@darryluys5269 Thank you. 🙌🏽 A Cli is a good move. They're great cars. You just need to make sure the Kjet system works well and you should be golden.
Very nice Lorenzo. I just got me a new MK1 and there was also these chips on it. I bought paint touch up off Takealot. It's like a cleaner and a paint thing. Bru this kak soema made the original paint soft. Where is that Jason guy from?
🙈 Sorry to hear that. That's not good. I wonder what is in that stuff. Jason is in Southfield. His details are in the video description. He can take you through the process.
@@tristanbam3951 I should check it out. I'm not too sure what product I'll be using on the bumpers but apparently it's good. I should do the beadings as well. I was only going to do the rear bumper. Lol.
@@c4t4ly5t Ah that's a pity. You should give them a follow on socials so you can keep up with the action. The next one is at Red Star late this year. It will be a 24 hour event.
Awesome video bud! So just to clarify some of the rules there. The purchase price of the car must not exceed R55k... Body and motor.. However your spending on the brakes, suspension and overall safety of the car is uncapped.... That being said, there are still many cars and guys that enter cars above that R55k budget price, however they do get penalized by getting laps deducted for breaking the rules... Its a great event and a fun one. The 24hour is hectic as well but something that has to be attended to say you've done it. But jeez the toll it takes on the body is rough. But a memory to last for a lifetime. However it will be nice if people stuck to the 55k car rule, because it's demotivating to put your all into a 55k lemon, and then see something way more expensive pass you because the rules weren't adhered to. Then you might as well just enter an expensive car just because you can. What keeps it interesting is your power and ability to keep a budget car running and fix it when it breaks.
I hear you and agree, it would be great if they kept it grassroots and affordable. But it's racing and that never really works out. But it's something new in CPT and I look forward to seeing it progress.
Great Video, good entertainment value and some dedication from yourside to stick it out all day 👏. Me, i would have left long time. (lol) As you said and threads that i followed, talking about the 55K factor, rather suspect there as in my opinion, what i could gather and your pointers mentioned, at least 80% of the entrants probably exceeded that bench mark. It kind of decieves the purpose. Anyways, Thank you for showing us and take care. 👍
@@mpe6678 If this was just an affordable budget endurance event I would have no issue with it. But putting that 55k budget out there really throws me. Lol. Especially after I just built a track day car, I know how expensive it is. I'm all for promotimg budget racing, but it seems like even budget racing is out of reach for most.
@@simey001 The Audi was cool. Well done on finishing. I'd love to know how much it costs you guys in total for interest sake. If you don't want to share it here, pm me 💪🏽 And yes, for some reason I didn't get much of the Audi in the video. Whenever I was recording it wasn't really around or my timing was just off.
Some guys just brought their existing playtoys, the 350z for example. Its is trackday/drifting car. Makes no sense going to buy another cheap car just for this one race.
@@simey001 I totally get that. I don't see the point in having an endurance car that you use for one a year. But with having expensive cars around, it does make it seem as if it's not really a lemons event. The Harp Motorsport Clubmans race car could have won and that's no lemon.
@@lowdl yeah for sure, that car was going. And for sure no lemon, yup I agree that it dilutes the lemon aspect a bit. Perhaps they should consider harsher penalties for non lemons. Saying this, the next event, the 24hr in November, they are introducing 2 classes, OG Lemon, and Suspect Lemon. So it's clear that this is not a new problem.
@@simey001 You're on the money there. It's racing so there will always be guys trying to find loopholes but the spirit of the event is affordable racing and it's far too early for it to be this diluted. Two classes would be great. With more focus being on the actual lemons but maybe there's not enough of an incentive. Is there prize money?
@@simey001 I didn't know that. 25 laps is very high. You're not going to make up for that because you can't go faster than a 1:35. As spectators, we had no idea what was actually going on. There was no communication on the day talking about the cars and the drivers. There was no info telling us how to follow along to see who's winning. This was not a spectator event. But it's still pretty new and hopefully it grows and becomes something we see more of. 🙏🏽
@@lowdl agreed, I also got a lot of feedback saying the event wasn't spectator friendly. I had to give info about the event to almost everyone I spoke to. But yes, it was the first one. Hopefully it gets better next year, especially in terms of spectators. There was actually loads of bonus points and penalty points. Would've been cool to get the spectators involved in this. Like best teem gees, best looking lemon. Car that did the least laps in 9hours, lol. Etc. all this info was available to the teams, but not spectators it seems.
@@J.H.S.H It's not a Killarney event but yes, this is not a cheap form of motorsport. But the teams that could justify the costs seemed to have a great time. 😅
@@lowdl Yeah bud but anything affiliated with Killarney is less about the people and more about the bottom line. It unfortunately looks like another form of racing for the elite.
@@J.H.S.H it'll be difficult to find a cheaper form of main circuit racing than this event. The costs are justified, hiring the track complete with marshals and safety crew etc gets expensive. Remember this event was not organised by Killarney or wpmc, they used Killarney as their hosting location. Motorsport is expensive, we can't get away from that. Stock car racing and drag racing might be slightly cheaper to get into, but can also get expensive quickly
@@simey001 Lets agree to disagree bud. The whole concept of lemon racing is for you to drive your budget build. The one car Lorenzo showed had a ECU master management with screen. My thing is don't hide behind a name. Call it for what it is.
@@YusufPetersenCPT I'm not too sure how this gets verified but I guess they would rather have more people race than anything else. The most expensive car didn't win. I still don't know what car won 🤣
@@lowdl exactly when the base car is a polo vivo then im already having my sus face on. I was hoping for some beat up old tazz's rust bucket mercs that sort of thing but hey it's still fun to watch and all.
Absolutely love watching people learn their car. Nothing better than seeing their faces when they start to improve and realize how capable their car is. Will be hitting the track with my daily at the next Track Day.
Brilliant brother! I commend Micha alot on his rear view camera, it adds great perspective. Fantastic content and love the journey. You present your content with excellence and edit with pride. Onwards and Upwards!
Well done Lorenzo on the 1:35 ! It will only get better from here. Next is a set of semis to push faster out the corners or adjust the front camber negative slightly on current tyres perhaps? What an awesome little motor that you drive to and from the track. What was the fuel consumption like?
@@dalesmit7869 I'll most likely run semis at the next event so that will change things a lot. Should improve my corner speed a lot. Being able to beat on it and drive it home is great. For a built motor that's always an achievement. Haha. And consumption for the hour of track time was just over half tank I think. Let's say 3/4. The 16v isn't too bad on fuel. When I switch to an ethanol mix it's going to consume more but for now I can't really complain. It's just thr octane booster than makes it expensive. NF in particular is way too expensive.
