Sounds like the production of this film was just a complete disaster. The initial script that hit the scene was written by Craig Mazin (the last of us, Chernobyl) and was apparently fantastic (which is why the film was able to get such a stacked cast), but then they hired Eli Roth as the Director, who rewrote the script, added a bunch of bad jokes and removed character depth. When the film was in the can (as far back as 2021) and Lionsgate realized they had a dumpster fire on their hands they hired Tim Miller (who probably should’ve just been the original Director) to do re-shoots, but apparently all he could do was improve some of the action because all the other problems with the movie were so deep that they’d have to remake the whole thing to salvage it

Glad you enjoyed this one well enough! I think there are a lot of killer moments in here when it comes to the action and comedy, but the story the film is centered around is shallower than a kiddie pool. I did really enjoy this Deadpool and Wolverine team-up from an entertainment standpoint though. Great review, Luke!

Funny...I did not care for the love triangle in this film. Edgar-Jones is the lead but she is the least charismatic (and her accent slipping was distracting me). I actually think this film could have removed Daisy Edgar-Jones character and had Anthony Ramos and Glen Powell as the friends who went different directions after a tragedy. Glad it is doing well though.
