Perhaps all along the Watchers in the Dark were the Sylvanian Families? That would explain their diminutive stature. 😂 I'm sure Captain Balthazar knows more than he is willing to let on.
I think the new miniature looks fine... For a generic Ordo Malleus Inquisitor. I can even see some areas where they could have options (Like a sash instead of that goofy belt, weapon and head alts) But as Coteaz, it just falls flat
I really enjoy your channel. I don't play or paint or buy these days, but it sits right in the sweet spot between Snipe and Wib Codex Compliant, the painting channels, and the lore channels
A far superior mini. And I do love your lore/rules speak. Still my main source of inspiration for my videos my friend. They do say that imitation is the highest form of flattery after all. 😁
I found the codex for Daemon Hunters in a used book shop and despite playing 40k for many years, did not know the faction existed. I am very excited for the new codex and various ways you can play the ordos. I think the best Inquisitor is the one that looks like the Warhammer Fantasy witch hunter and has the flaming pistol. I am also biased because that is the only metal one I have, but he came with no weapons. Luckily Inquisitors can take just about anything so it was a fun job looking for imperium, xenos, or heretical weapons for him.
Yeah, the oldie but goldie! It seems Coteaz overdosed on his last juvenat treatment, now he grew hair and thicc hips but this older mini reminds us he used to be a cool dude.
Don't ever give up on your classic figures. Screw GW. I didn't leave them, they left me. I was there at the start, I'll be here when they are gone. Heck, I just realized 40k has been a part of my life longer than it hasn't. Mk6 FOREVER!
My brother had one from 2003. I recently began my NL army, and decided to give it life again, but we were missing arms and legs. Long story short, I had to kitbash it into a mutated chaos box naught/helbrute combo. But, rule of cool right?
Great job on that coteaz, Matthew! Two things I think we can conclude with this video: 1. This new coteaz vs. The old coteaz shows how sometimes digital sculpting pales in comparison to hand sculpting, the new one makes me think of baby commando from captain commando if you remember that old arcade beat 'em up game from the 1990s, or to a lesser extent tommy pickles from rugrats in power armour. Just bland and cartoonish compared to what its much, MUCH better predecessor looks like. 2. If we factor in the exorbitant prices of gw models, and their current faux-pas with this model, you good sir have a golden opportunity here in the world of bootleg recasts of this model. Who knows, maybe if the gods smile upon you, your entrepreneurial venture into bootleg coteaz production will net you enough short-term profits to buy a new car or something really nice for Mrs. Miniscape, etc., between now and the end of the fiscal year, so keep that in mind. And as something that your song stirred in the vein of the tree falling in the forest and nobody's around to hear it....if you're in power armour and you pass gas, wouldn't this amplify the sound several times and create an echoing fart sound that could be heard for a good block or two around you? And if so.....did belisarius cawl fix that during his 10k years of this super secret mega-project to outdo the emperor himself? If you have any thoughts on the matter, by all means enlighten us! Keep up the quality work, cheers!
Even if I wanted to, I don't have the skills or facilities for recasting. As for releasing gas in power armour, yeah I've never thought about that before. It just fit in with the other lyrics. Thanks Buddy
@@Miniscape-wh40k lol duly noted and thanks for replying as always no matter how nonsensical the comments i might leave end up being, keep up the good work!
Putting the old figure next to the new one is like putting a diamond next to a turd. Well done, GW, you managed to ruin yet another classic figure for "A New Generation"...
Heh. That book thing is gloriously funny. In the midst of blood-soaked carnage, the very forces of malevolance manifested in rage and claws, the cacophany of hell itself unleashed, and you stop to flick through your almanac. Head Coteaz voice today provided by John Inman. "Just a mo, there, please..." <flick flick flick flick flick> "Is that an ork gland necklace?" "ggrrbbbffgglle?" "It isn't is it, just a bit of green wobbley." "ggrggaffuurr!" "Gordon, no, Graeme, no, you ARE a tharacid blade vermin, correct?" "ggrgrafffssrrs!" "No, no, there's plenty of time for that. Three small sub-fangs on the left handed primary sanguinating fang..." "ararraggahhhaaa!" "It's Geoff, isn't it? Geoff?" "gggrnen.... grrrh?" "Hello Geoff, I am Inquisitor Torquemada Coteaz, but most people call me Torquay." "ghhhgg?" "I'm rather afraid it's going to be a spot of dispatching you to your home dimension today. I know, I know, it's a pain reconstituting a corporeal form from scratch, but, well, I don't make the rules." "gggrrggfff!" "There there, it's not all that bad, you get to spend some time with family, after all. Have a nice cup of tea." "geggegrrrfss!" "Yes, yes. Now, if you wouldn't mind awfully, could you put your heads on this glowing hammer thing? Both of them, please, Geoff. Thank you so much." [CRACK] "Okay, now, let's see, you're a viscious thorn mesher, right? Just give me a moment, duck, you're all the way at the back of the book..."
Yeah I had a look for those but the only thing close is a generic Inquisitor Lord entry in the codex army lists that came with the second edition starter set. The army list in question is imperial agents.
The new model is honestly bad enough that it maybe be THE one straw that break the camel back for many and have them pick up their first 3D printed minies. There is already a couple of guys doing a Coteaz based on the iconic art they used for the cover of the book, or just an upscale of the old design and these look so good in comparison it's not even funny. It's insane to see how bad GW failed there when all they had to do was... just the OBVIOUS thing that everyone else would have done.
. . . Oh, and referring to a living symbol of His Most Holy God Emperor as a "Silly Birn" won't gsin you any friends among the Gid Emperor's most faithful . . .
If you can't get an original Coteaz model and the new one is just too bland for your liking, Raging Heroes has a character model named Lord Inquisitor Ordonius, who is basically Coteaz in their art style, in their Heroes Infinite 3D print line.
