I like the Terrance great swords but sadly I roll hardly any 5+ murderous strikes so I do t kill anything. Had to swap some out for thunder hammers to get kills.

You misread Alpha Legion Smoke and Mirrors…. When your opponent declares shooting, you get to displace a full 12 inches and then your roll a single D6 scatter dice to see where one model of that unit scatters then the rest of the unit forms up on that model within coherency. Most importantly, the unit Shooting at the Alpha Legion unit if it no longer has range or line of sight cannot pick another target.

noob question here, why do dual lightning claws give +2 attacks? I thought they gave just +1, but they refer otherwise

I am planning on building an Iron Hands Assault Squad of 10 marines with a pair of Power Mauls and an undecided weapon for the Sarge. Something a bit unexpected for my opponent when he goes to overwatch them and realizing he may not kill as many as he thougth due to the Medusas Scales.

The #1 reason people can't get into heresy is that it's prohibitevely expensive. I know people with multiple 40k armies that just can't justify the price for a 30k one. Plus it's a lot harder to find players for it

I think the iron warriors are bad honestly you always prefer standard tactical with fury and heart. And i think the space wolves are Better then average.

I wanted to create a Spacewolves army because I wanted to learn to convert and sculpt. Started making an Army that can be played in 40k and 30k. Now I only play 30k because GW disallowed 30k units in 40k.

Something I found out about Iron Warriors Inductii is that they don't count as part of your compulsory troops choices. So I usually add Inductii after adding 2 normal Tactical squads first.

Dark angels one is super situational. Its great whem you know you will lose combat but need to stick on the board anyway and gain fearless. Another thing is to pair fear 2 it gives you with the herala fear one and stack them. But that also need the opponent to not be fearless or stubborn. Its very toght roap to walk.

Weve nerfed the weapon skill, balistic skill and brutal by 1. Also changed that their fists go last in combat to allow hammers and fists go same time

@@crimsonknight7011 rending on 4+ using overlapping flamer templates- I wiped out a terminator squad with over 20 hits then in the next turn a contemptor with a few lucky 4+ rolls. My opponent was dumbstruck

I’ve only played two games so far and didnt do well with them. I have a 10 man squad and I think thats too many because they couldn’t fire since they were touching each other with flamer. Gunna try a 5 man unit. Sadly got crushed because I forgot a lot of abilities like stubborn and sunder on my lascannons. Do you have any tips?

17:54 it makes sense that they don't have their bolt pistol. These are vikings in power armour. They don't have time to teach them what a gun is or how it works.

I run 3, 15 man squads in a blood angels deep strike list. I have found that 2 spears and 2 axes with an apothocary keeps them around and viable till late game. Spears knock out tacticals before they have a chance to fight makes the fight tilt in my favor and the axes will carve out any ap 2 challengers or terminators. Spears and axes also are buffed by the destroyer debuffs hiting the instant dead threshhold. This has helped me cut down justerins in long drawn out fights. Also kept me fighting veterans.

On the one hand im always sad when Alpha Legion specific units don't get into the top of tier lists, but on the other hand you just listed 10 Alpha Legion units, so im good.

Hi, Thanks for the video, I am pretty new to Horus Heresy so still trying to get my head around all the rules, I have a question how does a squad of 10 marines with these get 50 shots? . I cant figure it out looking at the rules unless I am missing something.

Thanks for your advices. As a new player who wants to build a loyalist Word Bearer army, knowing how to use the basics units will be essential. Especially in this case when I can only rely on a few warlord traits and one special elite unit.

Regarding the Thousand Sons Inductii: If you lose the sergeant you lose the ability to use the Arcana completely (this is true of all Thousand Sons units) so you'll never need to worry about the lower squad LD. I've used them several times in ZM and being able to punch through 3+ save at rapid fire range through weight of fire is really good. In addition the inductii Arcana is arguably more useful on a tactical squad than any of the standard arcana. Yes the additional perils is bad but that speaks to the wider problem with Thousand Sons and psychic rules #CurseYouAndyHoare

I use the evade reaction all the time with my world eaters land speeders. They have Harbingers of the Legion which lets them re-roll failed shrouded saves. It’s made them surprisingly durable.

Dark angels rotor cannons as firewing is almost always in my list. Lots of shots and plus 1 to wound if it hits a unit with an independent character. If i can pin them great

3 Spartans! Hahaha. What a nightmare. A Land Raider for Ultramarines is even better. Give it a search light and use it as the cntre piece of your army. Keep units either side, and one behind it in a 6" bubble. Use it to light up targets and give your other units within 6" +1 to hit as well. Multi-melta on top is almost a must take for me as well.

I believe the space wolves inductii taking combat shield is optional. It says they "may" take shields.

EC Pheonix’s top for me too. But you have to play them like EC. They are not deathstars like some of the other special termies. They work wonders as an annoying tactical distraction. The skill unmatched makes them a poor choice for opponents throwing anything but top-tier melee at. The living icons and that they are so hard to hit really helps to make them win combats. The skill unmatched perfect fury is also neat if the opponent tries to tie them up with chaff. They are still punchy enough to massacre anything without invulns and 2+s. 3 attacks each against weak stuff without needing to fish for 6s is killy. And don’t forget the EC reaction. Countercharging often means messing with enemy positioning and getting a free move in their turn. Especially if they try to throw chaff at them that they can then kill in a turn with the extra attacks. With the spears they also normally get to swing first in second round of combat. If they tie up something with loads of hammers or fists for two turns that is already good. You might even get lucky that they are fighting something that can flee and then run it down. Main downside is that you need a bit more than just 5. They need to be juicy enough targets to get the tactical advantage, but that runs up the points. But whatever, YOLO for style, drive them in a spartan to max the scaretactic and watch the opponent forget about the sunkillers and aquilae that will go ahead and murder everything. Palatines which btw can do the same trick with skill unmatched to tie up units. 2W artificer armored dudes that are hit on 6’s. Often it is better to have them stuck with whatever in combat so they do not get shot at. Jump packs means they don’t get stranded in an empty quarter like the termies will. Sometimes it is worth it to have a huge attention magnet as a distraction. Plus it seems super EC-like to run such a bold and arrogant tactic.

I know this is old, but I'm behind the curve on Heresy. I feel really good about this video, because me and my roomate split the box of heavy weapons, I took 10 autocannons and 5 lascannons for my Death Guard, they took 5 lascannons and 10 Volkite for the Sun Killers. They probably came out better, but we've been playing smaller games where they don't have the points for all 15 so they usually go 5 and 5, and in bigger games I think the way I'm running my army will be pretty durrable against Volite and their lascannons are only 5 strong. On my end everything feels pretty good so far. I think we lucked into the right spread on the first try, but I think it helps that we're both playing for fun.

Predator is my big tank killer. I Run it with the magna melta cannon and charge it 14" towards the nearest land raider/Spartan/Kratos/Sicaran. Get in to 18" range and you have 3 x melta shots. A pair of them will generally kill that big tank, and give your opponent the problem of having to focus them in their next turn.

Found this as a salty night lord forever being cucked by these in my games. Personally I think the points cost should be higher and there should be a limited number available per detachment or they should be applied to an elite as discussed, and still provide the intercept as a single use reaction per unit. This helps balance the deep strike assaults, whilst not negating night fighting all together. Run spotlights if you want to see in the dark

I actually started a new army because our imperial fist player hates this rule so much 😅 On the flipside, our Sons of Horus player feels it’s the one thing that saves him from getting shot off the board turn one. Personally, I like it a lot. It makes list building and deployment a lot more interesting I think. Encourages you to diversify your list a little bit so you have better screens or countercharge units or just things that are going to want to be up the board, some vexilas for the back-fielders and a cheap consul to keep your lascannons active. With how useful all of those are even in the daytime, I think it just makes for more balanced armies and a healthier game. (IMO at least 😅)

Everyone forgets that world eaters legion trait isn't just +1 attack on the charge... its also free chain axes. So their despoiler and assault marines are just a straight upgrade when compared to nightlords and blood angels. Of course, melee is their thing, but they can go tank heavy better than most legions while still having dudes that shred.

For my Iron Hands, I run a 10 man volkite Caliver support squad with a Techmarien Cognus signum for +1BS. And they have been my mvp unit of the game more than any other unit iv used. 36"range you can park them in some ruins and cover off tons of area. Yes, they are pricier than the volkite culverin HS squad, but then that frees up my HS slot for more tanks, so it's a win in my book.

For the price of 10 Volkite Caliver marines and a Techmarine with a Cognis, you could take 8 Skyhunters with Volkite Culverins and a Sergeant with Artificer armour instead (if my math checks out). Skyhunters have more effective firepower (both average and max potential), more wounds + can get Shourded at will, can zoom around the battlefield to deny objectives, can tie up enemy units in melee etc. Granted, 10 Caliver guys are a very thematic choice, but it's just not even close to being a contest from a cost effectiveness and tactical opportunity perspective imo.

I've tinkered with a list its miltia commander (3+invun power sword, descip[lined marcher) industrial stronghold and armour of old night (for lasrifles) 480 levi infantry with lasrifles 3x squadrons of 2 russes its gives away only one victory point on the commander and the levis you deploy them in 32 man unts and do 7-9 units at a time and everytime one dies roll for your reserves next turn to bring them on gives you endless horde for the low cost of 2pts a dude
