What’s your favourite Legion reaction?

I really love the Alpha Legion one! Used it on a 6 man Multi Melta Sky Hunter Sqn yesterday managed to get them out the way of the slower Death Guard to then push up the other side of the table the turn after :)

No prey escapes the wolf is amazing. Ive found that i use it more defensively to keep a unit from getting shot by getting stuck in with something. Using it on a dreadnought to charge an enemy dread is always hilarious when opponent realizes wolf dreads get charge weapon skill bonus.

Appreciate the shout out to the TS reaction ! It's saved my units before. It's allso worth noting if you fail the LD check (its TS, so naturally you have to roll!) both you and your opponent's unit take a perils. If you're getting shot up by a Leviathan or Kratos, you almost want that to happen! 😂

I’ve used the DA reaction a lot and it is very situational, it has to be used on a unit that will win the combat and sweep but most of the time negating opponents charge bonus is just better

You misread Alpha Legion Smoke and Mirrors…. When your opponent declares shooting, you get to displace a full 12 inches and then your roll a single D6 scatter dice to see where one model of that unit scatters then the rest of the unit forms up on that model within coherency. Most importantly, the unit Shooting at the Alpha Legion unit if it no longer has range or line of sight cannot pick another target.

Another great episode! I might have to check again but as far as I remember a failed charge against the NL advanced reaction can only be redirected if the original unit ends up over 12" away from the charging unit

Dark angels one is super situational. Its great whem you know you will lose combat but need to stick on the board anyway and gain fearless. Another thing is to pair fear 2 it gives you with the herala fear one and stack them. But that also need the opponent to not be fearless or stubborn. Its very toght roap to walk.

Y'all sleeping on the Word Bearer reaction. Nothing quite as fun as a 10 man lascannon team firing into your terminators/Vorbak/unit on an objective and just going "Yep...you kill one and thats all. Don't even roll dice"

As an IH player, I'm a little jealous of the IW reaction. They're identical, but IH get it against Assaults and IW against Shooting. It's solid, don't get me wrong, but I've often found the units getting assaulted aren't powerful shooting units. On the other hand, combined with IH Graviton weapons, it makes Dreadnoughts really have to to make hard choices about charging.

Something interesting to consider with the White Scar reaction is you can kite backwards with the closest unit's and or the targets of a charge. And then say if you had a bike squad on the other side of a piece of terrain shoot forwards into a vulnerable gap. You can withdrawn a vulnerable unit, and pull forward say your flamer support squad to protect them with overwatch!

Yeah most of these top 5 will swing a game when used well. Or they will cause players to play in a less than ideal way to avoid them. Like half the time I use my DG reaction it's essentially making up for not being able to run for 1 unit. It can be clutch but it is not clutch every time I use it. And I could go a whole game where there was no clutch moment to use it. That leads to me not really taking it seriously and using it in a "I may as well do it here" kind of situation.

I think it's worth pointing out that almost every one of your top-rated reactions share another trait: they're better as a threat than a reaction. As an Imperial Fists player, I really want my opponent to remember my reaction every single time they look at one of my melee units and think about trying to charge it. The actual game effect of these reactions is less significant than the way your opponent is forced to play around them. For that reason, I think that the Ultramarines reaction should be rated pretty highly. It may not be as universally useful as the Space Wolves', but it can absolutely do work to protect units that can't make reactions or have very ineffectual ones. Superheavies and tanks in general are pretty easy to pick apart with pretty much any weapons that can damage them, and they really can't do anything to deter you (Punisher notwithstanding). That changes a lot when there's a 10-man lascannon squad standing next to it. Slowly picking apart a large enemy tank with your land raider's lascannons becomes a lot less appealing when you have twice as many shots coming back at you.

The IW one stating the "Reacting player" rather than "Reacting unit" may make a shooting attack is horrible. Shooting one thing and having Siege Tyrants obliterate you 😒
