I also think sewing bags is great FUN and whether you are an expert or not, we all share a common love and that means common booboos too! I don't try to hide my goofs BUT rather share them for the world to see....so you know that everyone GOOFS and that's OK too.... :)

omg, you captured every moment I have had making purses!! Thanks for making me feel so included in the bag making process!! It's a little less painful now that I see others experience these small and frequent catastrophes :)
LOL Yep you are definitley not alone. I always have a laugh to myself when I see some RU-vidrs portraying the perfect sewing exoperience, knowing that it is far from reality 🤣🤣🤣
Just had this video pop-up and it is Fabulous! I’ve just Subscribed and will checkout you cutting video next. I have ScanNCut and Cricut machines and can’t wait to try this out. Looks like you might be using a Bernina machine, what foot is the 52 and why did you choose it? Can you please advise on thread weight, needle size and stitch lengths? I have a ton of supplies and excited to try making one. Thanks!😁💯🎉
The 52 Bernina foot has a non stick sole plate. I like to use it on things like cork, vinyl etc. I mostly use Aurifil cotton wt 40 thread but will use polyster or a polyster blend dressmaking thread if thats what I have in a suitable colour. I would use a 14 size jeans needle on this and stitch length usually 3.2 to 3.4. Hope this helps!
I have a scanning cut I download the SVG file for some reason when I go to scan and cut grab the SVG file to download it to the machine it's not grabbing am I doing something wrong what am I doing wrong
@@ChrisWDesigns yes I unzipped it's saying the image is larger than the mat it reduced the image but still nothing happens 🤔 I went the other route printed out the pattern scan it is now in my cut file ready to be cut
@@encarnacionada2 it won't fit on a 12X12 mat, only a 12 X 24. The Printed pattern pieces need to be joined before scanning and cutting and they still won't fit on a 12 X 12 mat. I assume that is what you are using if it says it is larger than the mat.
@@ChrisWDesigns I got it now, but, anyway I did print the pattern and scanned it in my brother Scan N Cut. Ready to be cut thank you so much for sharing. I'm sure I will have fun making this project. Happy Sewing ChrisW.
Hi Chris, a fabulous idea ! I will buy and try , thank you . Sorry to hear about your shoulder, I had a steroid injection in mine, which has worked well, might be an option? Cheers, Bridget
Thank you Bridget. I have heard about that and been thinking about the steriod injection as a possibility. Nice to know it worked well for you. If it doesn't settle soon I will for sure look into it. I've been going to the chiropractor getting ultrasound treatment on it and doing the ice/hot pack thing but the Chiropractor thinks I may have torn the tendon....in which case it takes a LONG time to heal....I hope NOT! The only way to find out is have an ultrasound but that won't change anything.
So clever! I hate wallets, so I add card slots to all my bags. This is so much better. And so versatile. It would be great in a backpack, laptop bag, pool bag, farmers market tote, I pad case, etc. Great job!
Thank you and YES....all of those and more lol I am beginning to really prefer a built in one these days....and I love how quick this comes together. :)
This add on is perfect for me. When I make a bag, I can count on having an organized place for everything! Thank you and I hope you recover from the pain in your arm soon!
Thanks so much! Yes i like to be organised too and I love not having a seperate wallet....Its so handy just to have one built in. :) Thanks re my arm. I hope it heals soon too. I have so many bags i want to get on with! lol Its super slow going atm
AW Chris, I'm so happy to see you wearing a Nebraska T-Shirt great state of the Husker football! That's where I'm from!! Thanks for all the wonderful patterns and tutorials you make everything so easy to follow! GO, Christine!
If I were still making bags on a regular basis, this would be a "must have" to add versatility to every one. I have been bemoaning the lack of sewing projects that are new and different. Well, this definitely fits the description. Great job on the idea and hope it's a winner for you!
just added it to my basket on ur website 😁 but have to wait to buy it cause my phone 📱 storage is full 😭😭 so I gotta delete loads of stuff on it 😤 or try to remember my kindle PW omg but I want & need this so badly 😂 thank u so much for designing this hun 🥰 best wishes from Bev in the UK 🇬🇧 xx@@ChrisWDesigns
Thanks so much for this, not only am I eager to try sewing cork, I have just got a Brother Scan n Cut for a birthday gift so this looks like a great first project!
It usea a combination of sewing and glue. The glue stops the edges from comiing apart and looking ugly but you could ake it with only sewing if you would prefer.
Hi. Love this tutorial. Can you please advise what glue you use ? I'm presuming it doesn't gum up your needle. What size needle too please ? And where do you get your snaps, and from where please? Sorry for all the questions 😊
Thank you. I use a permanent fabric glue which dries fast. It will depend on your location as to what brand might be available to you....and no, when it is dry, it doesn't gum up the needle. I usually use a size 14 Jeans needle for these. The snaps I use are from a supplier I bought from ages ago. They are no longer operational however I think you can buy metal KamSnaps. Google will help with that. :)
New subscriber here, home sick from work and spending my time in the RU-vid world of sewing. I just have to say I LOVE THIS BAG!!!!! Maybe one day I’ll give it a go. Loved seeing all the different ones and how great they look using so many different types of fabrics.
I can't wait to try this new pattern - it will be perfect for the gorgeous faux leather and webbing I just purchased with no plan. Thank you for this generous gift of this free awesome pattern!
I'm been very intrigued by the "zipper overlay concept". Was wondering if you need to use leather type fabric to make one? Or can the same concept be used with fabric? Looks like a great pattern and I'm definitely gonna try it. Hope someone responds to question about the zipper overlay. Also don't have a cutter/cricket tool yet either. Thanks from Gloria in Baltimore, MD.
Hi Gloria, It is designed for fabric that doesn't fray, such as cork (my Favourite) leather or vinyl etc. You do not need a cutting machine. They just make the job quicker but a PDF template for cutting by hand works just fine. Many of my testers do them by hand. :)
I am a bag designer (CHASSIEDOT CREATIONS, LLC) in Atlanta Georgia USA and i design totebags like this one, but i LOVE this design. i will be getting this pattern! FABULOUS BAG!! I SUBCRIBED!
LOVE THAT WEBBING! SO PRETTY! I NEVER THOUGHT OF USING CORDEROY FABRIC! REALLY NICE! I MUST GET SOME! YES, DOUBLE SIDED TAPE IS THE SEWIST FRIEND! I LOVE DOUBLE SIDED TAPE!
I am glad you like it! :) Oh I really LOVE the Corduroy.....It makes a FABULOUS tote! I hope you join our Facebook group and share some pics when you have made yours. :)
Excellent and excellent tutorial. I think I will start with this one. Thank you. Assuming I cut as per measurements and there are no templates to print? Christine, I need to get one of those large rulers, what can you recommend please ?
Hi Sharon, yes, cut my measurements. There is a PDF file you can download in the description below the video. Those large rulers are quilting rulers. I am not sure where you are located but a google search will bring up suggetsions of where you can buy them. :)
@@sharonyates2062 yep that's it. Choose one that covers the sizes you are most likely to cut. I admit to having a collection of them. Smaller ones and square ones and long ones lol They come in so handy!!
Loving what I have seen so far Christine. Question, I noticed when you were sewing the piping, the bulk of the fabric was to the centre of the machine, not left as normal. Is that for a purpose? To keep it more stable perhaps?
YOu most likely will need to add my email address to your safe or white list to get the emails, or in Gmail sometimes they end up in the promotions folder.
If you are in Australia you can get it from Spotlight. If you are outside of Australia, please refer to the PDF instructions for testers suggestions of what they have used. :)
Exactly! 😂 Had this over the years, so I've always nipped it in the bud as soon as someone finds out I sew with the usual 'Ooh, you sew?!', by adding ''Yes, but I don't do repairs. Ever'. Funnily enough, their excitement dwindles.... 🪡🧵😂
