I'd like more on the beatific vision and the contemplative life. How is work supportive of this pursuit but separate from it? Do/should Evangelicals even recognize this divide? What of leisure and rest in the work life, ala Josef Pieper's description in Leisure the Basis of Culture?
Thank you for this message Andy - i cant express how much it resonated with how i had been feeling about the modern life. Thank you for expanding my knowledge and thinking around this - so grateful.
For a moment I didn't agree with the setup of Siri as an illusion of personalization, and I think it's because I don't use it. I thought, "surely people don't actually think of talking to Siri as a substitute for real human relationship." But then I thought about people I know who call out to Siri or Alexa for different tips all the time; who laugh as they find out the right question that gives it a quippy comeback or a silly joke; even the noticeable shift from describing "it" to describing "her" - and I had to agree. I do still have a little hesitation to connect so much with ancient ways of being painted as a great thing to return to or emulate, but I get what Crouch is going for.
I must learn to appreciate to get back to work again, please God help me to enjoy what I do, in accordance with romans 12 and this whole word, in the name and blood of Jesus Christ, amen and hallelujah!
I absolutely love the Sweet Lobby and Souk! I must say I am a faithful patron. I am soooo proud of the owners. I remember like yesterday when they opened. Seriously one of the best days ever. I love a quality dessert. I've searched DC high and low for the best quailty in baking and in my opinion Sweet Lobby and Souk are the very best!
You don't help people with Business that's weird.... You don't think that's sowing into your church, look at what it did for this man I hope you actually changed that stance
You cannot serve two masters. Clearly yall are trying to clear your conscience of serving money and prestige in the business and professional world by trying to pretend you are serving the Lord by waking up every day and spending your time making ridiculous amounts of money for yourself and your investors. This is absolutely disgusting.
God bless you! Flowers can change the world, for sure!!! From another “ Just a Florist” for the last 55 years and still loving it and loving the folks who I serve! 🌹💕🌷🌸🌹💐💐💌
I have been a florist for over 30 years. One of the hardest retail businesses to be in. Low profits, everyone selling flowers, growers selling to the public, online companies selling garbage, employee turnaround, credit card merchants/banks charging huge fees, customers complaining about expensive flowers, insurance, landlords, vehicles, flower growers selling at farm markets and charge no tax, long hours, working during the holidays, customers google reviews, supporting growers for years and then they sell to supermarkets around the corner from you, government audits, wire services bookkeeping, packaging fees, customers wanting you to arrange flowers they bought from your vendor, customers don't trust "make it nice", can I get something nice for $30?, I would love to be a Florist!! " "Help us and buy from your local Florist!" It makes all this go away. "Be nice, work hard".
Love it! So thankful that you are helping Pastors be equipped to show Christian Workers that they are missionaries in their workplace! Thank you for closing the gap!!!
We are doing a sermon series on Faith/Work/Economics at two churches in LA. Just started Sunday. #DiveDeepTogether << Search for videos etc on the topic.
▓▒░ What a profound message. ` If it wasn't for today's article (March 05th, 2019) in Our Daily Bread, I wouldn't have run an online search for the author - and discovered this wonderful video. ░▒▓ `
Just a florist....total understatement! An Amazing Florist 🌹⚘🌼🌻one who has the pleasure of working with God's beautiful creations everyday bringing smiles, love, peace, joy & happiness to people's lives everyday. What an amazing job to have. I so desire to be an amazing florist but lack the proper training. Still on my list though ☺
