Hi, a kyudoka here (Heki ryu insai-ha specifically). I think it's important to note that there's large difference between the historical Japanese archery done in the battlefield and the one done today. To generalize, todays techniques are mostly for show/ritual. It is weak, forced and slow. It only appears smooth because our bows are extremely weak, around 12kg or 25# is a typical weight. Even my school, which is supposed to be a type of battlefield foot archery has fallen down this line. It's quite recent too, less than 100 years ago the most common weight in our school was 35kg or a little under 80#. You can probably tell I'm quite bitter about this haha, but it's still a fun shooting style despite it's shortcomings.
Great video! Here's some extra info for those who hunger for more: - Though a single bow can take from 6mo to 2 years to make, most of this time is spent drying. Bowyers can work at several bows at the same time. It's a bit like how alcohol can take decades to age but they can make them in large numbers. - The Manchu did not typically use quivers at target practice, instead opting for sleeves/ropes/belts somewhat similar to what KTA archers use. This is also why you rarely see a quiver in the 19-20 century photographs as almost all of them are target archers. The arrows are simply resting on their belt behind their back. - Due to the extreme length and heavy weight of the war arrows (~100gram each, ~39" long) and the longer time it takes to draw the bow, very few arrows were carried. *If I remember correctly*, 9 to 13 arrows was the most common amount. - Out of the aforementioned arrows, most commonly about a quarter were wide broadheads that could deal extreme damage to lightly armored opponents. The majority were "plum needles", slim cutting heads with high penetration. Iirc the amount of each carried was a personal choice - One of the most unique techniques of the Manchu was the almost horizontal sideways bow tilt in the early draw. The extraordinarily long fletchings wear down very quickly as they rub against the handle, so the arrow is kept hovering an inch away until the fletchings have been drawn past it. [ Though I'd like to note that this is quite a nuisance and it may have been hunting & target only. I do not know for sure though ]
The Nubians that are being spoken of are really the South Sudan Nilotic people. Nubia wasn’t a place in dynastic Egypt before the Romans came, a the Nubian Christian kingdoms started in medieval times just before 600 AD. Ta-seti was the name the ancient Egyptians used in the old kingdom, not Nubia. The term Nubian derived to separate black Africans out of Egypt history to go with the narrative that outside people(Afro Asiatics) created Egypt civilisation & not black Africans. The Cushitic speakers were the first invaders of the first intermediate period which would make it false to say ancient Egypt is of Afro Asiastic origins if they were the cause of the first intermediate period. Egypt is a Nile valley civilisation not a delta civilisation even tho today Its in the North African geographically. The Nile valley is in the south, as well as the culture & the name for the south was NeHeS which Egyptology identified as Nergo. Nergo became equivalent with Nubia.
Akosbow seems to be unreachable now. I was in the process of buying him a Short hungarian bow last August, but after agreeing on the details, he stopped answering. I've tried many times since then to get in contact with him through Facebook and email, to no avail. He also hasn't updated his social media account for at least a good 9/10 months. It's pretty worrying :/ I ended up getting my short hungarian bow from Bogar, and even though it's not as pretty as Akos (purely subjective), it's a damn good bow, I enjoy it a lot :D
5:45 "Powerful neighbors" would've been changed to "arseholes for neighbors" if i was narrating. We need a change of perspective these days, if you're being violently "kept on your toes", it's because they're arseholes, not powerful.
The invention of the compound ball was not by Allen, but awarded to him. In a court decision with Jennings. The actual discovery was made by a scientist in Germany And patented in the 1930s, which is a matter of recordso. The information you are giving is incorrect. Allen didn't invent it? It was already invented but awarded to him in a court case because the original designer. Inventor didn't want to come back to the united states
Most of the bows, I shoot, are Veghbows. For example he builds a fine Hungarian Bow and the Vegh Turkish is still my favourite bow! Throws heavy arrows, light arrows, is good for longer distances too and is always reliable.
@@karlgunther-turkisharchery4272thanks, I have one magyar from Flagella dei , i am saving money for a scythian , probably i will buy it from grozer, i looked one called scythian bearhunter too from another bows maker
The Guinness Book of World Records is a bunch of nonsense. I nearly cut the current 10 arrow speed record in half on film, posted it to IG, and sent Guinness the required documents to get someone out to verify. They told me I had to pay $16,000 for an official verification, or $7,000 for a “self-filming packet”. They “encourage people to find sponsors”. It’s a pay-to-play monopoly on world records, and they’re not real or updated.
And mean while gamers practice training finding aim techniques. To reach next lvl from passion. So game we going against aim assist they have 0ms reaction time & inhuman consistency.
