I live in Covington, KY but I have lived in Cincinnati and my family lives there… Crazy to see what’s happening to Ohio. Hopefully Cincinnati doesn’t get the same treatment. I love this city. It’s kind of like a little secret paradise for the locals. I don’t want to get the mass influx of people moving here from other states and cities because the place they live now sucks. That’s how our city will eventually start to suck. Cincinnati and the NKY riverfront cities have seen a big boom in recent years. I remember 10 years ago, you’d see heroin needles all over the sidewalks. They’ve really cleaned things up. I want it to stay that way, but more population means more crime.😢
@Lovell93 Thanks for sharing your perspective! It's great to hear how much you love Cincinnati and NKY - the riverfront area really has transformed in the last decade. I understand the worry about population growth leading to more crime or other challenges, but I also believe that with thoughtful planning and investment, cities can grow while maintaining their unique character and safety. Cincinnati has been doing a lot to attract new residents, and it's important that the growth benefits the community as a whole. Let’s hope we can continue to enjoy the best of both worlds - a thriving city that still feels like a hidden gem!
@LivinginCincinnatiOhio I did not , did not want to leave my bike unattended..The area is just one big historical Museum....I even , rode by the Oldest Tree .
GCL=private catholic schools. Our three kids attended and we highly recommend although I understand not everyone can afford the tuition. All schools you mentioned are reputable.
Correct, the cost can be prohibitive. My research showed that all the schools we mentioned had pretty solid scholarship programs that would be worth looking into, before assuming the cost will be too high.
I thought that Dayton and Cleveland had done revitalization and people were moving back downtown. Am I wrong? Cincinnati and Columbus have definitely capitalized on their downtown areas and are bustling all the time now.
What about Cincinnati, has not had a Republican mayor since 1989. Crime has risen, the public schools are a mess. Corruption by elected officials has occurred. Closest I get to the city is to drive through or around. Democrat leaders enough said
I don't closely watch politics in general, but spending money they don't have, corruption, and general disregard for what is best for the taxpayers seems to be a consistent theme in Cincinnati. The current mayor does have some good ideas and hoping he can manage to make improvements in quality of life without raising taxes more.
We're not dropping like a stone in water here in Springfield, why we've just gotten a population boost of 20,000 Haitian immigrants. No doubt, we are becoming one of the fastest growing cities anywhere, because word is another 40,000 are on their way. So, in conclusion, we may well be the biggest 3rd world city in the state. Wonderful, just wonderful.
There's not a city in Ohio that could handle 40k people just showing up randomly. I'm so sorry that Springfield and many other areas are dealing with this. The city and state should sue the federal government and ship them somewhere else. Is it true the city leaders own properties that are being rented by the newcomers?
Amberley is amazing! I'm guessing it didn't make the list since it's just smaller. For more Amberley Village info, check out this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-FDJpYBNRfRs.html
When I move to Cleveland in 96 the average family had around 4 children... These days when I take a walk with my granddaughters.. I'm the only one walking with children.. everyone else is walking digs , the dogs Parks are popping everywhere and children playground are empty...
Sounds like the movie Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Dick Van Dyke was wondering what was missing when arriving to search for Granpa, and it was Truly who told him, look, there are no children. Where are all the children?
@@tomodonovan5931 I appreciate you bringing it back to a movie reference. My guess is the children are in front of a screen somewhere, but not watching something amazing like Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Any other thoughts?
@@LivinginCincinnatiOhio My family fled a lot of cities, simply because my dad was in the service. Every state we lived in was the capitol of that state. Lost a few friends, and had to make new friends when we moved. Not easy to do when young. Most friends knew each other since being young. They went to the same school when growing up. I found out being a kid was tough, but not as tough as being an adult. You definitely have more responsibilities. And you figured out the movies that scared you when young. Pit and the Pendulum scared me as a kid, but I knew I grew up when I saw that it was nothing more than a wife who was cheating on her husband. You don't figure that out as a kid. Not until your mind expands into its vast awareness.
I love the summers here. It changes a little every year--this summer was definitely more humid than normal. Then it was way more dry at the end of the season. But next year will be something else. Check out this for more info: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-MEgq53wfwFg.html
What is price of home to rent ratio? If we buy 3,00,000 single family house how much rent one can expect If we buy same multifamily what rent we can expect Please guide Thanks in advance
That's a great question. It's not, at least not usually the 1% that I think we used to be able to count on. a)because the 300k home is not great--likely needs tons of work, or is a small starter home. or b)We have lots of apartments being built, and large office building renovations to apartments. So currently, our rental market is challenging to predict. I know you are discussing SFR, but the brand new complexes have tons of amenities and are in areas that people really want to be in.
Cincinnati is the northernmost Southern city with all that implies. There are a lot of great cultural things here, it has a football team, a baseball team, and a great zoo. Architecture is also interesting. There are many unique features, but Cincinnati is disappointingly divided racially and religiously. As someone has been to all the states, and most of the main cities - it is perhaps the most balkanized city in the country that I have seen - where crossing a city line or a train track means leaving one community and entering a totally different city. I say that as a long-time Ohioan who was transplanted here 5 years ago.
Interesting. Thank you for sharing your experience. I can think of some areas that yes, once you cross into the next "town", it feels totally different. Each area has it's own leadership, so it makes perfect sense. Is it not like that in other larger cities?
Thank you for not being mad--lol. I love, love, love your neighborhood! And judging by the views on that video, so do others. If you ever want to sell... :)
I’m stationed here on shore duty at the navy reserve center. I have to say, I’ve had the best time here. I sent my daughter to Covington Latin and she is doing so well. She and I ran the Flying Pig Marathon this year (her first full marathon) and so grateful for the hospitality Cincinnati has shown up. We are headed to DC when I PCS but this was definitely our favorite CONUS duty station.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience! Glad you have enjoyed your stay and sorry we will be losing you. Hopefully, you will make it back to Cincinnati in the future when you get to choose where you want to live.
Moved here in 2023 to be close to son and his family. We found insurance and utility expenses to be much much cheaper than in central Illinois. But the price of housing here is insane compared to our old location. We had a 4200 sq. ft. custom built house that we sold for $600K. Here a house half that size cost around $550K and the quality isn't anywhere near that of our old house. Still waiting to see how real estate taxes compare.
Mt Adams=atrocious streets and parking, Hyde Park=expensive, overrated old houses with old house problems, Wyoming=abuts Lockland, roll ‘em up. The Westside isn’t represented. WTF?
The is some neighborhood on the westside near cleves that is on a hill overlooking the Ohio River that is ridiculous, well 1 street but can't think of it
I agree. You can walk into almost any hole built early 90s or before and it feels solid. We have a lot of people who don’t want “old homes” more than 20 years old. I get that the floor plans may not be optimal, but homes with copper, hardwood floors, solid doors-they aren’t going anywhere.
I’m black I’m used to the city life but I don’t care to live in the inner city I like diversity as well I need to see not too much of one race without seeing others just as often I live in Florida it’s predominantly Caucasian so that’s not a problem if that’s the majority but is there a lot of other races? Is Cincinnati urban because when I think of the Midwest outside of Chicago in my mind it’s rural as hell
Cincinnati is pretty diverse. And it isn’t like most cities where neighborhoods are pretty segregated. We all live amongst each other, and it’s great. I live on the Kentucky side in Covington across the river from downtown Cincinnati, but I’ve moved back and forth for years. I’d say it’s a great diverse place.
Cincinnati is an extremely diverse community. Even the larger suburbs like Mason, West Chester, and Fairfield. As for night life, once you get out to the suburbs, everything ends at 10p. But in the city, there is always something happening. From music venues, to festivals to cocktail bars and brew pubs, Over-the-Rhein, Downtown, and Clifton are usually hopping late into the night. What types of things are you looking to do?
@@umazon4132 Yes! We've got all that. Tons of concert venues (including small and large for bands and comedians), car shows, and pick a sport--we've got it. I just found out that we have a women's tackle football team: cincinnaticougars.org/ Not joking--everything you could want is here.
That election map is why I live in Covington. I wanted to live in/near Cincinnati without the liberal policy lol. Thanks for the informative video! I also will never understand why anyone would be bothered that they have to provide an ID to vote… Makes sense. But I think we all know why some people don’t want it lol.
@@LivinginCincinnatiOhio Thanks!! 🤗 We have a small town feel to me! Cinci has always been my home, for 60 yrs. Came here age 2. Been in this area for around 25 yrs! It's home!
I fell in LOVE with the AREA--Came from the Caribbean for a visit, then MOVED to Florida, now to Hilly Cincy. Love the weather and the hills. Flat backyards not important , The walkabilty and the bikeabilty IS !! You don't need a car here. thank you--Cicadas--we have man eating Snakes-Crocs ,Gators....
So glad you are enjoying it here. I don't see the appeal of Florida--as you mentioned, things that can eat me, plus bears. And weird running lizards? No thank you. What part of town are you in?
@LivinginCincinnatiOhio Many things that can Eat you alive . Remember, Florida is a Swamp. Much of it is Sand, below sea level Marshes. With areas of dense tropical trees with insects that will eat you, and bight your flesh off . Not to mention , all those ancient Dinosaours
The information was helpful I was hoping if I would see Kent I hope I will see videos on Kent here in future Thank you for the video on Ohio by the way. Keep it up.
@@Nesolepus Interesting. Eastgate definitely has a lot to offer and they seem to be adding quite a bit of infrastructure to handle traffic for all the businesses. Do you not use the bike path in Loveland?
@@LivinginCincinnatiOhio Back in the day, I biking was a huge part of my life, and I was at the Bike trail and Nisbet park nearly daily. But now, even though I live on the trail funny enough, I don't really bike too much anymore. I do enjoy Nisbet a lot still.
@@Nesolepus I'm sure someone who bikes would love to live on the trail if/when you decide that you are ready to move. I'd be happy to do a home valuation for you if you'd like an idea of what your current home is worth in today's market. 513-457-1115. Call or text
