Moved here in 2023 to be close to son and his family. We found insurance and utility expenses to be much much cheaper than in central Illinois. But the price of housing here is insane compared to our old location. We had a 4200 sq. ft. custom built house that we sold for $600K. Here a house half that size cost around $550K and the quality isn't anywhere near that of our old house. Still waiting to see how real estate taxes compare.

Unless you enjoy championship sports teams, Cincinnati is a wonderful and reasonably priced city to live in, having come from Denver and Chicago 🙂

lol...we do win sometimes...it's just few and far between. and we are still ahead of Detroit, so there's that.

that's a great question, Tammy! According to the internet, housing is less expensive and utilities are more expensive in Lexington. Renting might be slightly less. However, sometimes the internet is wrong. We drive through there and stop for food and used to stop for gas on the way to Tennessee every year and was no noticeable difference between the two. Also, the internet has no idea what a home costs in Cincinnati, so there's that...If you would like me to help you connect with a realtor in Lexington who could give you more accurate information, I would be happy to do so. I’m having trouble finding a safe and affordable place to rent while attending Concora University, coming from out of state and feeling completely lost! Is convington/newport a good option for housing?
