My family lives about 20 minutes south of the city in northern KY. We always go downtown in the winter to watch the ballet, we also love the art museum and we love Octoberfest! My parents just took my kids to a reds game and we love Findlay market! I would consider us locals even though we live just outside the city. We love it! ❤

Thanks for sharing! There are many who do consider NKY part of Cincinnati and probably go downtown way more than the rest of us actual Cincinnatians. The important thing is that you enjoy Cincinnati. There really is a bit to explore. Northern Kentucky has some good spots too. Mad Mikes Burgers...YUM!

Little Kings in the little bottles was my beer of choice when I was a kid in the late 70s. Christian Moerline was one of the original craft beers along with Oldenberg.

I remember Little Kings. I may have had it even though I'm not really a beer drinker. But the little bottles were so cute! I'm glad that Moerline is still around. We've seen so many breweries come and go. We found a 6 pack of Bengals Hudepohl in our basement when we bought our current house.

I’m stationed here on shore duty at the navy reserve center. I have to say, I’ve had the best time here. I sent my daughter to Covington Latin and she is doing so well. She and I ran the Flying Pig Marathon this year (her first full marathon) and so grateful for the hospitality Cincinnati has shown up. We are headed to DC when I PCS but this was definitely our favorite CONUS duty station.

Mt. Lookout, Mt. Auburn, Mt. Adams are my favs---spent LOTS of time in those areas. Also, Playhouse in the Park and Krohn's Conservatory . Love the Loveland bike path .My cousins lived in Mt. Washington for their entire lives. Can't stand the chili---kills my stomach...hated it when my dad wanted it. Loved goetta, though. We were natives there for only 2 generations and we all left except for cousins. Mariemont is historic, too...I lived there for the first couple years after college.

Cincinnati is the northernmost Southern city with all that implies. There are a lot of great cultural things here, it has a football team, a baseball team, and a great zoo. Architecture is also interesting. There are many unique features, but Cincinnati is disappointingly divided racially and religiously. As someone has been to all the states, and most of the main cities - it is perhaps the most balkanized city in the country that I have seen - where crossing a city line or a train track means leaving one community and entering a totally different city. I say that as a long-time Ohioan who was transplanted here 5 years ago.

Interesting. Thank you for sharing your experience. I can think of some areas that yes, once you cross into the next "town", it feels totally different. Each area has it's own leadership, so it makes perfect sense. Is it not like that in other larger cities?

Appreciate your thoughts. And there are, in spots, a specific odor to Cincinnati--but it's got it's very own special something. The reason we include areas outside Cincinnati proper is because it's still part of the Cincinnati metro and not everyone wants to live, or can live downtown. And actually both Indian Hill and Sycamore areas have Cincinnati addresses.
