A backyard barbecue enthusiast that wanted to expand his knowledge of barbecue and turned to RU-vid. After a year of watching and learning I decided to start documenting my journey. I take the basics that I've learned while trying new methods and techniques to see what works for me.
😁 No...not naked. I spray painted it High Temp Silver. I like Stainless pieces and parts......and like the look of the silver. Thanks for watching....hope You check out more of my Vids! 👍 \🔥/
@@HeavyMetalBarBQueI posted wanting to paint mine on the FB page - and a lot people said you can paint the enamel ! How long have you had it like this for?
@@felixs1340 Years and years and years......also have my WSM smoker painted. If it gets a scuff.......just give it a touch up. 😁👍 You know they sell different colored Weber Master-Touch Kettles.........and it would have that shiny enamel to it. All in what You want. Hope You check out more of my Vids......some Wild stuff! \🔥/
Hi Mike! Well......these were SS grates from my KBQ C60 all stainless stick burner pit. If You've never heard of it.......check out my Vids. It's a real innovator . 👍 \🔥/
Looking to purchase a Johnson rig....after 7 yrs, how has it been and how has it stood up and what is your review on it. BTW, that is one beautiful color on the that meat!!! Wow. Care to share the recipe?
Well......I hate to say this, but, I sold it. My journey with this Pit is all documented with a bunch of videos. I do some outrageous stuff with and to it. I recommend checking them out. There was nothing really wrong with it......just didn't want to do the whole tending to the Fire thing with a small pit when there are other options. I guess I got lazy and bored with it all. Hope You find time to check out some of my stuff. 👍 \🔥/
Do not buy! Does not work as advertised. Box has constant flame to it even with butterfly valve completely closed. So wood gets completely engulfed in flames throwing off your temperatures with no added smoke.
Nice! Waiting to see what else you have up your sleeve. I went to Dick's Sporting today to see the WW Pro in person. They have the 36 on display and they had the older model WW in the 24 inch so I got to see both sizes. The Pro would be the way to go if that is the pit I decide to go with. Just don't think I need a 36-inch of anything for 2 people! Keep up the great videos!
I really like what you did to your WW Pro (good job)! Just out of curiosity, did you look at the Weber Searwood? If so what is your opinion of it? I need to purchase a new pellet grill and I'm considering the CC Woodwind Pro 24 and the Weber Searwood 600.
Thanks for checking out my Vid! 👍 I would recommend watching my other Vids on the CCWW Pro also. 👍 I don't believe Weber had released the Searwood at the time I bought this one. I will tell You to consider how you would clean out the Fire Pot before every cook. The CC takes 5 seconds. That is huge for me. The CC has Stainless body parts......That's important to me. You have to decide what is important to You. I would recommend watching as many Vids and reviews on both so you make the right decision. Don't rush into it......do the research and let me know what you get. Metal On! \🔥/
2 minutes to start with a torch? 2+ hours to clean & start again? ( less charcoal & more :" pickles plum wood" or ~~ any wood maybe to taste but wetter 😮😢😅 I built 6 : 4 are still alive and smoken! 1 copied & returned with better modifications 😂 ! Not into electric so much: but time marched on : experimenting with pellots & pellet grills + more wifi/ BLU tooth range? 🤔🫣🫡😅 Maybe? Disposable or reusable catch pans at bottom & copy "steamer plate ~ they get hard to clean & degrade/ corrosion/ bridal & pick up flavor ~ forgive me but the " raw charcoal" flavor can be improved with: less & more air? My house is between : " set it & ALMOST, forget it & the pleasure of tending & entertaining/ sharing! 😀🥰👋🙌👐🤝🙏🫶 Good fortune with yours:
Appreciate the thoughtful comment. 👍 Hope You find time to checkout more of my Vids. Have You watched the Vids where I use a PID controller hooked to an Exhaust Fan on a True Wood Burning Stick Burner? Wild Stuff My Friend! Check it out.....and Metal On! \🔥/
Hi there Kjetil. Doing well.....as You can see I'm stilling tinkering with my toys. Just don't make Vids like I used to. It's kinda like....been there done that thing. To be honest I don't really watch any BBQ vid channels anymore , except maybe Tom Horsman on occasion. Me and the Mrs. have a new hobby for the past couple years with riding bikes. How about you?.......what's new? Good to hear from You! 🤘
@@HeavyMetalBarBQue Glad to hear that all is well with you and Mrs HMMB! I@m doing great aswell over here.. Yeah i can understand moving to other activeties.. I´ve come to the same conclusion.. But i do follow and watch bbq videos still..
Hi Chris! Wow what a surprise.....good to hear from Ya! All is good here for us.......we sure miss the good ol days of YT. I still have and use the Thermapop insta read probe You sent me, almost on a daily basis. 👍 Metal On My Brother! \🔥/
The chrome plating on my top grills has started to come off on mine after a year, great idea with the 1 piece stainless ones, I’m sure you know now as this video is from a year ago but the butterfly should only be open to get the wood chunks smouldering then you shut it so it doesn’t catch alight, if there’s flames then there’s little smoke, I use a blow torch to get the edges glowing then you don’t need to open the butterfly at all as long as you top up before it burns out, keep on smoking and cheers from UK 🇬🇧 👍🏻👊🏻🥃
Hi Paul from UK! What You say is exactly correct. I found that the chips and chunks will smolder better with just the butterfly left closed. I never open it anymore. They start to smolder just from the heat of the metal. 🤘 More smoke from smoldering wood........ No smoke from Ignited wood. 👍 Metal On My Friend. \🔥/
My 2 cents if I may....all depends on what grade of stainless steel you are talking about. 18/8, 304, and 316 stainless steel are considered not magnetic. You are partially correct though, some stainless grades are magnetic. What grade of stainless is the CC Woodwind Pro made of?
Well the FirePot and Heat deflector box and the box that chips go in are true 304 stainless.....magnet won't stick and these parts will last forever. The drip pan and cook chamber body is a cheaper stainless, magnet sticks, but is Stainless and should hold up for a long time. No issues of rust or deterioration yet. Metal On! \🔥/
@@HeavyMetalBarBQue Thanks....I was directing my response to @gumarro72 's statement "Stainless steel is steel, so magnets do stick to it. You might be thinking aluminum. That's the one magnets don't stick to." It's apparent that he doesn't possess much knowledge about stainless steel grades!
