Hey Bro! Yep.....love the PK. 👍 Wait till you see my new Mod for it........taking it to new heights. 🤘 Well......I would say get the Weber first.......it's a proven "Do It All" pit. But.....then get the PK 360 down the road. I wish I had gotten the 360 just for the extra space. The Weber will be $300.00 cheaper and has the easy Ash removal system. That's a drawback for me with the PK's......but not a deal breaker with it's efficiency. Hope this helps . Metal On! \🔥/
Thanks for the reply, both are nice grills, the PK is built like a tank and less stuff to break! The only real problem is see with the PK 360 is some people saying it doesn’t get as hot as the Weber when doing indirect cooking and some people have mentioned that the ash will clog up the bottom vent during a long cook! The other thing about the PK 360 I have noticed is that it would be difficult to roll and my yard and I’m scared to let it sit in my front yard because someone might steal it! I should add I see you have yours on your deck, I would love to put it on my deck, but I don’t think the wife would allow that!
I remember the first time I smoked beef back ribs. Everything went great until I uncovered the full pan I had them in.... There was literally nothing but bone left... I was so mad lol
Plate me up!! ha ha... you tell 'em Karin \m/. Nicely done Ken... this set-up works great for full racks of ribs. Thanks for the mention of the big mans channel... you nailed it! lol. Nice shout for PK Matt... dedicated channel for PK cooks... check it out people! Sounds like your enjoying the new PK. Great little cooker for efficient cooks... for those who like to save on fuel \m/. The PK holds temps great in cold weather... even better with the temp controller. Nice find on the beef ribs... always a treat to chew on some of those bones. So tasty!! Well my friend... Metal&PKOn\m/. BHC
But of coarse I give You a shout out and Credit for the Aluminum Deflector Pan Idea. I never seen that before until You did it and it's Brilliant!!! I think the people at PK need to wake up and explore these potentials of their little Pit. I gotta say I'm very impressed with how efficient it is in the cold weather..........I see an overnight cook in my future. 😁 Why not....right? 🤘 So glad I was finally able to get me one of these tanks. I can use it......neglect it....... and all of it's components won't Rust! Like You always say.......Love the PK! 🤘 Thanks Chris......Metal & PK On!!! \🔥/
I'm always surprised Ken how little charcoal that you burn. Biggs had a great idea and you used it to perfection! Mrs. HMB approved! Good deal on that cover. I always check for discounts at Lowe's...you can find some deals! Good work Bud! Take care up there!
Hey Rob! Yeah......I've come across several good buys at Lowes and Home Depot during the off season. Biggs got Me really excited about the PK a few years ago.........I just had to get this new model. You be safe down there. Hey I didn't know Duke had his own brand of Mayonnaise?!?! 😁 Liked that on your last Vid! 👍🍺 \🔥/
Thanks Johnny! Yep.......I'll take these over Brisket any day! That is if the butcher didn't butcher them to death. 🔪 I got lucky with this rack! 👍 I'm very excited about this set up......endless possibilities here. Metal On! \🔥/
Hey Jon! Well........He's still alive. 😁 This was a test run with my Aluminum set up.........now the possibilities are Endless! 😁🤘 I'm not back........but I'm here. 🤘 Metal On My Brother! \🔥/
Thanks Kjetil! I'm very happy with it and now that I know the stoker will work on it I'm thrilled with the possibilities. Cheers to You My Brother! 🍺 Metal On! \🔥/
Wow Ken, those beef ribs look fantastic! Tender, juicy and that smoke ring is awesome! That PK is really nice! Now, that's how to use a charcoal grill. You didn't even fill it completely with charcoal and still had a lot of charcoal left after 5 1/2 hours and that PID controller is doing it's job for sure! Thanks for sharing Ken, stay safe and have a great week my friend!👍
Thanks Charlie! Yep I couldn't be any happier with the results and how the PK did with the cold conditions. I got lots of plans now that I know the stoker is working and the aluminum deflector gives me more real-estate. 😁 👍 Have a good one My Friend! \🔥/
Awesome looking rack Ken! Perfect set up with that deflector and the stoker...I'm impressed with what little fuel ya used👍 really dig the color of the PK ..stealth mode😁 thanks for sharing brother, have yourself a great one, you all stay safe!👍🍻👊🤘
Thanks Craig! Hey I like that..... Stealthy! 🤘 Yep it's exciting now knowing this set up works and that it gives me so much more room. The possibilities are endless at this point. 👍 Metal On My Brother! 🤘🍺 \🔥/
They put those covers on sale because they were overcharging for them in the first place.. 90.00.. yikes! PK still looks good. I half expected to see you modify the mess out of it. I guess that speaks volumes to the cooker itself. Nice cook brother the ribs looked fantastic 😋
Yep D......they are crazy to ask that kind of money for a cover. I got a few things I still would like to do, but for the most part now that I know I can run my stoker on it, I'm happy. 👍 Loving the Aluminum and Stainless combo! Metal On! \🔥/
Hey Mr HMB, those are some of the best beef back ribs that I’ve seen in a while! Normally they are all bone and not much meat ! Send me that PK when you wear it out ! Nice cook !
Hey Kent! Yeah I hear Ya about these ribs. When I see they are gouged I keep on walking. Only good for soup......but when cut. like this....MmmmmMmmm.... better than Brisket!!! I'm surprised You don'y have a PK by now? Oh...I plan on wearing this Pit out! Now that connecting the Stoker has proven it will work........It's Endless!!! 🤘 Metal On Bro! 👍🍺 \🔥/
Not many things grind my gears like seeing a rack of beef ribs at the shop where all the meat has been dug out. That PK looks like a great grill, and that set up for smoking the ribs worked brilliantly. Some great easting right there man
Hey..... My Old Friend Tango Joe! Good to hear from You! Hope all is well......sure miss your recipe creations and hearing that theme song. Any New T.J. spices I need to checkout? Yep really digging this little capsule of a pit. The fact that Nothing will Rust in it is a huge plus for me. Because I can't take care of anything anymore. 😁 LOL When I see 'em like this I grab 'em! It's better than brisket point....IMO. 🤘 Stay Safe and Metal On! 🤘🍺 \🔥/
Just bought a Weber 22 and discovered your page while researching how to smoke butts. Coming from a primo ceramic but the ceramic broke. My 88 yo Dad has the original pk in the red version that opens from the side. Over 40 years old. Had no idea they were a thing still and nearly $500. I'm gonna tell him don't throw it away! I watched your vid on smoking low n slow for 19 hours with your air flow device. I need to try your method without the device. Can I assume that I can still go longer than 10 hours if I just barely crack the vents? I used to go 20 hours on my primo with no need for water pan.
Your Dad has a real Classic! 👍 They have Stainless Steel replacement Grates available for it now........You will have it until You are 88. 👍 Sure... the Kettle is perfect for long low n slow cooks. If you use a large deflector plate of pan you can load the whole kettle with charcoal. I've got lots of Vids showing the possibilities. No Temp controller necessary.
\m/ETAL ON! Thanks for the shout! I gotta check out Chris' channel too (heading there next!). Gonna be making vids again soon. My son left his Master Built Gravity feed over here, so I got a little distracted messing with that. Anyhow, LOVE beef ribs, and those looked delicious! I don't worry too much about preheating before putting the food in (as I'm sure you've seen) since you know it will get there. Like you said, all the heat goes out when you open it up anyway, so... it will get there.
Hey Matt! Cool You saw it.......I had to mention You! 👍 Yep Chris first used a deflector that enabled him tp use the entire capsule space.....this blew me away......and one day if I ever got a PK I had to do it! 👍 I really like the design changes they made to this.....and the color is badass! 🤘 Yep.......I'de rather come up to temp with the meat in, instead of letting it heat up to temp, load the meat and the temps take off and it's too hot now and then it's gotta come back down. 😁 Meat takes on more smoke at a power temp also. 👍 You will like Chris and what he does on his PK.........and he is familiar with You Channel. 👍👍 So how do You like that Gravity Pit? It's a fuel Hog ain't it??? Metal On....Hope to see some new Vids! \🔥/
Hey John! Glad You liked the set up......it's My aluminum version of that Aura system you keep pushing me to get for the kettle. 😁 Hope You are doing well My Friend! Metal On! \🔥/
Hey JB! Loving this little Pit! They are My Fav! 👍 Hope You are doing well. Hope to do some pork ribs next and I'll be using Your Rub! 👍 Metal On!!! \🔥/
Ken my friend, you always have the best toys, I really like beef ribs especially the plate of ribs, lol, btw, are you sure you want to spend the money to build or buy a copper still because you said you don't drink much strong drink ?, I don't either anymore, takes its effects on you
Hey Steve! I'm really enjoying this latest toy. 😁 Yep......I like them better than brisket! Don't worry I won't be doing any moonshine making anytime soon. A few cold beers is all I need. 🍺🤘 Hope all is well My Friend! You stay safe! \🔥/
Another benefit to putting the meat on early is getting more smoke on the meat. You know the smoke gets thin when you hit cook temp. Especially when you're using wood chips.
Wow.......It sounds like You've been watching my Videos........that's what I tell everyone to do. If You haven't,... I hope You find time to check out more of My Stuff. You will see things never done before. Metal On!!!! \🔥/
