Having practiced krav maga I would like to point out a couple of things 1. When it comes to the static choke, while I do have mixed feelings I am also going to say you misrepresent it here. It will indeed not take place in such an open space but it is still a possibility. However the technique you exhibited will never work if your back is against the wall. Your hands are supposed to loosen the other guy's grip ever so slightly while you simultaneously draw back your neck and head by engaging your back muscles to break out of the choke, something that a wall wouldn't allow. 2. I personally did learn how to deal with a charging chokehold in krav maga, they did teach that in my gym, similarly to how you do it, sort of, only much more aggressive "place one leg behind to halt, turn torso completely to the side while raising the lead arm straight and upwards to loosen the grip, elbow their forearms to break the grip fully, hammer fist, cross and knee to the bollocks"
I was just assaulted on my 28th right at middle school grounds US, by a extremely angry and mentally unfit veteran who accused me off backing into his car than later denying it after cops showed up. I had my jujitsu shirt hoping it will make anyine think twice about attacking me at 6'4 and ripped as I lifted weights since I was 18 and did martial Arts and street fighting ). I am 46 now still in excellent shape but with some chronic injuries to my shoulders and lower back, from military service, infantry for 9 years. He sucker punches me while grabbing my neck at same time with right hand overhead punches... They felt like pillows))) All I am thinking is my kid in the truck and school grounds while parents and kids are watching. So after years of fighting and experience I simply blocked the punches not one landed properly on me but one on side off my neck. I framed and back out By stepping backwards under angle. I yelled at him and told him what he was doing was wrong told him I will drop him if he takes one more step towards me. He stayed put as he was already gassed out). Anyway now he is in trouble with law which is another aspect of this whole case and I am all set. Picking and choosing where to fight is also a part of the whole thing but honeslty hurts me still as I never backed out of a fight in my life, especially in front my son as a father. But I explained him and he knows as we both train jujitsu and boxing. Anyway these wackos are all around us and getting more aggressive. I told the cops next time I am fighting back and cop said absolutely understands. Never again backing down as its to much to deal with letting another man lay hands on you and not finish the job! So I do not recomend it unless you are dealing with some legal stuff already possibly or had in the past and must use other option like cops if possible.
This is honestly the best street fighting instructor ever. You could see that girlsnadrenalin response was actually fired. She looked frightened but obviously he's trained her so well she was still calm even though her body was firing off the adrenalin. This is the real deal, not like that Krav Magar which is literally training you how to fail.
Video suggestion: What to do when a girl you're with: A) starts or escalates a situation by mouthing off to a bad-guy. B) freaks out and inserts herself in the fight.
I trained in a style that taught overaly complicated technqiues for this very attack, including the rubbish with being chokes from behind. I started training boxing from the start of this year and i was thinking "why werent we taught how to step off line and deliver a hard hook or jab to the attackers ribs?" I like that the instructor is addressing that peopel will drive you into a wall or te ground and that a simple movment is better than overcomplicated bullshit. I like that the shoulder raise and side step isnto too far off a simple face cover and the same foto work tha tcan be used to land a heavy body hook. I wish i had trained something liek this all those years back.
I wonder what your job is Are you in the army..? Another thing is that I'd like to be a corrections officer or maybe police one day, so I start doing Jiu-jitsu, but I also watch these, and will this stuff be useful for it..?
Old guy here. In my younger days, when I stretched a lot, I could easily deliver the underside of my foot to his chin, between both sets of arms. Quick and forceful. And he'd never see it coming. Drive his chin right up into his head. I was strong, too. Shoulder strength could easily deal with those arms you're sporting. I wasn't broad like a bodybuilder but thick like a tank. All rib cage. Good times. I look at this now and still imagine that WWE two-foot kick to the chest as a means of escape. Pull both feet up and explode them forward with a rotation in the hips. Again, he's not gonna expect that. Weird. I couldn't do either of those now. Your method seems much more cost effective.
On eastern sunday this year I got into this situation, was just hopping off my racing bicycle (doing sports), had bicycling shoes on, so very slippery, standing on some grass. Suddenly an Arab dude came out of a train station nearby ''what are you looking?! i will fucking slit you open!'' and I was totally unprepared + as a 115kg dude, running away was no option. Everyone is faster than me. He was already at roughly 2-3 meter distance with an open spring knife, my only thought was to use my bicycle as a distance holder but otherwise no idea what I could have been done except fighting with my hands. He did not attack in the end, this was my luck otherwise I would be dead or have visible wounds for the rest of my life. If I was in the Netherlands I would train in your gym for sure. After the guy went away, I called the police to neutralize this thread for other people and they got him. turned out he got already 15 other cases running against him. In a weird way I had no fear but was just overwhelmed and tried not to say anything, basically give him the feeling that hes the boss for this moment. Helpless, but THIS time it worked. Especially if I had a daughter I would shit in my pants every time she goes out.
Excellent content. I like that you made it a point to not have the students fixate on always trying to grab, given that fine motor skills are limited when adrenaline dumps. Using the grab more as an attack rather than just reaching for the attacker shows how skilled of an instructor you are.
I learn some seriously awesome things every time I watch your videos. You're possibly one of the best self defense teachers I've ever seen. Thank you sir.
Never underestimate a side palm strike because it’s so fast and sudden that time stands still for the recipient and is where, as he says, an equally sudden and overwhelming follow up is absolutely necessary to keep the momentum. The next stopper step up might be the Flying Eagle Hapkido reverse strike, (same motion) using the thumb side and bones, brought to Singapore and refined where I learned it more than 35 years ago, when living there for 24 years. My own teacher would break bats, coconuts and marble with this inner strike. With the correct suddenness and body mechanics the strike usually knocks the antagonist out. I love your presentations and teaching skills.
@@schoolofselfprotection What about the guard you use and the use of elbows? Its quite similar? Are you ever gonna do a video about your fighting history and how you assembled this style? Would be really interesting!! :) Keep up the good work!
