Superb. MMA is great for a reciprocal fight, and everyone should train it to some degree, but most "self-defence" is about the pre-fight, and, or a very one-sided response to aggression. Learning how to avoid or manage situations is essential, and needs to be explicitly trained like any other skill.

Fantastic. I think what a lot of people dont consider when it comes to training is that we are avoiding the confrontation altogether. Like he said, it's a matter of controlling space and removing the entanglement. It's crucial to keep your hands in that defensive position while attempting to de-escalate and then utilizing the hips to generate that power when the assailant has essentially helped put you in a more advantageous position. This is honestly some of the most practical Combatives training on RU-vid.

As a long time street fighter from Bosnia we face danger daily and there is rarely a day without a fight when you are growing up. What This man teaches is real stuff that can immensely help any non fighter defend themselves even experienced ones likewise especially when use of firearms is infringed upon and you have armed attacker with a knife etc. Mind is the key! Make sure you go through techniques in your head over again every day like a routine not to forget them and train daily if you can your body. Lift those weights As well trust me in a fight it makes a huge difference. Excellent video my man and taking care of those two a holes outside.!)

Very good and logical technique. More than one arm is the rule. If someone gets closer than that you have to react. Me as a grappler can only think of how to get you is (just an mind experiment how to counter this): grab the arm you putting in my direction to make space (almost same technique you use). And work from there. It’s a common thing to do in judo for example, if the opponent don’t want to give you the collar in first place you take his wrist. There are some throws you can do from there. I know guys who can do foot sweeps with one arm from there without that you even notice or have even time to react (even as a experienced grappler). Also leg grap‘s are maybe possible. But the thing is, that is very difficult and most people who make trouble on the streets won’t know how to counter such a technique.

You are an EXCELLENT instructor, Michiel! As a quick side note, I've been looking at various political insights around the world. It looks like a good time for The Netherlands international courts to GREATLY increase their defensive capabilities using state-of-art, esoteric weapons systems. Nice demo. I would add most viewers are not trained fighters. If they try this they will be too slow (due to hesitancy) and inaccurate using the palm of hand (rather than larger forearm) for deflection (will miss the arm by 4 inches or so (‘ive seen it often in beginners). So advise to practice the move many times with a buddy. Thank you for your content.

Forty years of boxes (Savate, Muay, Panantukan, wing chun), 20 years of security, and the omnipresent question of survival combat, training methods, lead me to say that it takes unity in its practices. That modern methods and systems integrate emotional management to get closer to reality......simple things, the basics of these arts, the choice to puncture what suits you and especially, a unit, a common thread to organize his training......and this unit, this common thread is very often what is lacking in the so-called self-defense methods that combine techniques to the point of getting lost...

If they throw the right hand, you can lean into the right shoulder, cross block with your left and hit them with a straight right as well. Boxing can work in the street fight. I’ve had it happen a couple of times more than a couple. I’m born again now I’m a Christian so I don’t fight anymore. People start with me but I would hit them. I did not try to walk away.

The instructor looks cool as an ice cube when fighting. Having said that, and while this instructor offers sound advice, I think that self-defense classes and dealing with different types of aggression should come in *addition* to sports like MMA/Muay Thai, etc. A strong fighting base is the rock upon self-defense should be built.

@murad3678
@murad3678 3 месяца назад
@@schoolofselfprotectionThanks for the answer. I watch all your videos and I think you do a great job. I've been studying martial arts in a street fight concept for several years now and I practice as much as I can and I always like to learn and adjust. I think you used the fist in this situation because it's better suited to start with and be a 1st Strike in this distance because you can adjust the angle of strike with more freedom to give that blow between circular and straight. With a palm hand strike it is difficult to have circular and straight movement in the same time. And so with a slap you will lose this advantage of going forward towards the opponent, so you can miss the target or hit it with your fingers. I think the fist remains the best choice in a range between long and midium (to close distance or react to punches and grabbing tentatives). And for us as men, it's hard to resist using the fist for some psychological reasons... Personally, I like to use the right fist in some situations... I simply wanted to share my thoughts and learn more.
