Knowing the differences in swings is what separates a decent golfer and a hacker. When I first started golf I bought a driver and went to the driving range and got decent with the driver, then I got irons and I was horrible, but I practiced with the irons and got decent with them too, I practiced so much with the irons that I forgot some of the things about driving, but I quickly relearned.
The way he’s turning your hips to square the face.. it doesn’t make sense to me because it’s square with literally no release of the hands… don’t you want to release your hands to get speed?? Where is the release in this explanation
Thank you so much for confirming a lot of suspicions that I had about the differences between an iron and a driver swing. I thank so much that I have a green light to really establish these changes.
Not gonna like watching this 12 minutes was such a waste. Love u grant but definitely thought you guys were gonna go way more in depth with irons and just the swing in general. Idk this was posted
Would love to see this style of video with a 20 handicapper and a full 30 min of really working driver, hybrid, 7 iron, pw. Then check up on him a month or two later and see if he's retained most of that, if his handicap has gotten better, and continue one more set of lessons to really drive it in. It would be great to see what an average golfer can achieve with this level of knowledge 1 on 1 and it relates to probably 90% of your viewership! P.S. - If you do this around Tucson, AZ let me know! I run between a 14 and 18 handicap and consistently have to watch videos, do drills, and put in lots of range work when my iron or driver swing gets off.
Hey Grant, I just went to the range after watching this and there is a HUGE difference! I vowed to watch this before every time I play now. One question - should my hybrid/wood swing be more like the iron or driver? Thanks!
I would like to see instruction on full swing SW & LW. I tend to open up and send them way right of target. PW and above I don't seem to have that issue.
That baseball practice swing dramatically changed my driver swing when I started using it. If I’m having an issue on the course I do that on the tee box to get back in line
Interesting in the presetting the weight to the left side for irons. I’ve always had my swing going from right to left. I’ll try that preset weight when I can!
Grant one thing I have trouble with is me weight distribution at setup for my driver. You said here you like 50/50 on each foot, but slightly tilted shoulders, I always feel like I'm putting more weight on my backfoot when I make the tilt, then thru the swing I shift my weight forward to avoid falling back. Is there a way I can feel more comfortable at setup?
This was such a nice, simple tutorial. The weight distribution + the handle placement on the 8i was really a lightbulb-moment for me. Thank you so much! How does the handle placement change when you're going through the different irons up towards 4i? I guess you'd want to do much of the same, and when it comes to woods you'd swing a bit 'flatter'?
it seems im opposite of alot of folks here. i can smash a driver where i want it most the time, but im only about 60% with clean iron strikes. if i hit it, its nice, but my misses are always tops and shanks
Grant please go over, the takeaway, the hinge , what the right hand and the left hand is doing as you take away and as you come through. also if you could go over what are you looking for in the feel in the takeaway and hanging of the wrist and then when your coming down.
nobody talks about balance on the feet. are you more on the ball of your feet or on your heel or even on both. I have a tendency to be more on the heel.
