We are Patricia and Ed, we kickstarted our sailing voyage in France with the desire and hopes to document our voyage around the world on and off our Sailing Catamaran. This is our tale, a story of a Brazilian couple that grew tired of the 9 to 5 routine and the corporate world, some can say it will be a story about sailing, travel adventures and all of the nice things you can do during a journey like that. We say all of the above plus the opportunity to meet unbelievable people along the way and collect everlasting memories. If there is a dream, there's got to be away to put that into reality, thats how we think! Our hope is for this channel to capture this entire journey and bring it to you in an entertaining way. Welcome aboard JOY ! We are happy to have you along side us. Fair winds. *************************** Ed and Patricia

How about neither. It is a BURA or BORA ! The bora is a northerly to north-easterly katabatic wind in areas near the Adriatic Sea. Similar nomenclature is used for north-eastern winds in other littoral areas of eastern Mediterranean and Black Sea basins.
@@SailingJoybura it's croatian, burja it's slovenian. Burja or bura blows from the mainland to the sea and and indicates the arrival of good sunny weather.
- July/August in the Med: it is super crowed everywhere - 8+ Billion people on our planet they all “wanna live the dream” - more and more wealthy people with big boats - holidays in Europe families with Charter boats fleeing from Northern parts of Europe. - choosing to be at a Festival place Just a few thoughts to consider… I am half Croatian and I am still missing the silent days during my youth in the 70’s then it was paradise to me. Those days are gone… This planet suffers from too many people and I am a part of them. But this is how life goes. Croatian is a country which is living from tourism and a quite short season. With these points taken you really can’t expect to be on your own in one of the most frequented vacation places. Try October perhaps? Really no pun intended just a few thoughts from an old man.
You are 100% correct ! We really loved croatia 🇭🇷 and intend to return many times in the future. We are originally from Brazil and the same happened there so I understand that those times are long gone. Thanks for your message. All the best.
@@SailingJoy I love Brazil too. I was quite a bit in Saō Paulo. (If you go in August, for example, to La Maddalena you don’t need a boat- you can jump across the many boats with dry feet) 😂 Try off season it’s not so warm but way more relaxed. Safe travels and have a great day!
I'm a local in Croatia and I know quite a bit of history. The water tunnels were indeed used to hide submarines in the former state of Yugoslavia. The former state was right on the border between the capitalist and the communist blocks during the cold war and thus had quite a big fleet of submarines. The island Vis and sections of Lastovo were completely militarised for decades, and the Yugoslavian government in Belgrade used the water bunkers on those islands to hide navy ships and subs. Today however anyone can freely dock their private boat in those tunnels and that includes the occasional private speedboat
Awesome answer. Thanks for sharing so others can have an even better sense of the story that happened in our near past. Super apprecited. All the best Ed
Great video Ed and Patricia. Not sure I could handle a party for seven days either. Love to watch you both exploring new places. Stay safe my friends, boomer.
Super happy with ours. 3 years traveling around the world and enjoying it ! Now, a Lagoon Catamaran is not for everyone. I recommend you find a brand that suits your wants and needs. Good luck. Ed
Hello. I am on the process of buying a lagoon 42 or a 46. I will have to sail alone. Is it really more difficult with the 46 ? Did you try with a remote ?
@@SailingJoy thanks a lot. I saw that you can have a remote for the engine as the fly bridge a little bit far from the back which is not convenient when you leave the Martina.
@@Manuparis I sail as a couple. Have a look at our latest videos you will see us docking. But if I would sail single handed I would prepare all lines and fenders radio the marina and announce I am single handed so they can assist in docking. I hope this helps.
Duda e Pathy.
Wonderful! I’ve been a Carribean Cruiser for 15 years and Croatia is on my bucket list! This was just what I was looking for!! Love your narration! Signed up for notifications but don’t see a subscribe button? 🤔
Was there at Hvar, Vis and others last October. 2 time sailing from Split, Croatia. Both times were Saturday to Saturday trips. I too did the submarine bunker. We did climb up to Tito's Cave!! Roki's is a great time. Wonderful food.
Wow! Thank you guys for a wonderful video. What an experience it must have been for you. Roki really looks interesting. I swear I could smell the octopus dish 🤤 ❤
Thank you for a very informative video. Can you address the fly bridge in bluewater passage making. It is unclear from this video whether you also went to France to get the L46 and returned across the Atlantic. And possibly have you crossed the Pacific on the L46? There seems to be very little real world documentation of using these fly-bridge cats in open ocean, I have read a few views that they have no place outside of near-shore sailing but not from experienced sailors. It does look like it could be a precarious place to be in big seas and bad weather even with the plastic panels in place. On the other hand the L42 helm looks more secure...but I have no experience with either. Any thoughts and experience from you or others on your channel would be appreciated.
Thank you so much. We had our Lagoon 46 for the past 3 years and have sailed close to 10.000 nautical miles on it. The flybridge is something we love. We have several other videos on the channel that show us sailing in Europe and I invite you to check it out as well so you have a better grasp of our route and sailing. We have redundancy of all electronics inside of JOY so in bad weather we usually sail from inside as it is more comfortable but totally doable and fine from the flybridge. We had both the L42 and the L46 and in our opinion having the flybridge is totally an added bonus and not the other way around. Keep in mind everyone has its own personal preferences. I recommend you test it and see what you like the best and feel more comfortable with. To us the flybridge is what we like sailing as a couple. All the best Ed
Hi Boomer. All good here. This week was a busy one preparing JOY for the new season. Next weekend we come back on videos for Sailing Joy and Travel and Fun. Have a great week. Best Ed and Patricia.
Nice episode!!! -> Tip for your next visit to Lastovo: rent some scooters and drive up to the heliport on top of the island. It´s one of the best views and sunset-spots in the Adriatic sea where you could see Italy on a clear day.
Thank you ! It is indeed a great tip. We ended loving it out of this episode but we had the chance to walk up there and actually visit the an abandoned military base beside the heliport as well. We truly enjoyed Lastivo. What a 💎! Next weekend we will sail to Hvar and Vis and show the places we liked the best over there. See you then. Ed and Patricia
@@SailingJoy - Same over here Toronto Lake Ontario- Oakville Today we still single digits.. max 8 celsius..and lots winds. this weather is giving me hard time to preparing the sailboat to haul in.
Welcome to my country of Croatia. I hope so I will see you somewhere on sea around Kornati and Zadar region. Enjoy, it is one of the best catamaran charters regions in the worls.
I sailed out of Split, Croatia last October on a 50' Sloop with my friend for a week. We island hopped each day. 2nd time doing it with Rob. We did this same trip 10 years ago and enjoyed it a 2nd time. Wish you would name your anchorages for those not familiar with the 1,200+ islands off Croatia.
