Jim Green Footwear was born out of humble beginnings, in a back-yard garage in 1992, with the idea in mind of making a boot that lasts and lasts. It wasn’t long before Jim Green had gained a reputation among local communities, living up to its’ name of being tough, rugged, and able to go the distance, eventually becoming a household name across South Africa. Jim Green is not only hand made in South Africa, but all components are also locally sourced. With an unemployment rate of 35%, it is important to us to support our local people and economy. Our factory is run in an ethical manner and we pride ourselves on bringing you the best value for money footwear, while at the same time living up to our name. Today, Jim Green is still one of South Africa’s favorite adventure and work wear footwear brands, being worn by large and small corporations and remains a local favorite among the farming and hiking communities. Durability - Comfort - Quality #myjimgreens
Great work on these, the more I see from you the more I love jim green as a company. With so many possible combinations I hope you put some work into really streamlining custom orders as you expand, I think that can be a big market for you in the US despite the challenges (lets face it, us americans can be picky sometimes 😆) Personally something on my wishlist is a pair of barefoot shoellies
The Jim Green Vellie is my Desert Island boot. Materials, build quality, and comfort are all amazing. Factor in the very reasonable price and it might be the best overall boot in the world.
I tried buying the African Ranger barefoot but you neglected making any women sizes so I am sized out. Please consider making smaller sizes, after all there is a lot of women in the world that you could be selling to.
I really hope the Barefoot Trooper gets added to the custom options. The panelling and style is just unmatched. Even though I like both barefoot and regular boots there's a lot of people who hate the barefoot aspect of the Troopers and would like it with a normal lug sole and a different last. It would definitely sell like crazy.
My steel toe razorbacks have been literally saving my feet at work. See I’ve got some foot issues and I had to find a wider boot to prevent the usual foot pain I’ve been getting. Now cause I suffer from a high arch I have to wear an orthotic to support the fallen arch. The steel toe razorback let me do that. My only complaint is the hard outsole is not good for absorbing shock. So my ideal Jim green will have the steel toe but I need one of the softer soles. Any suggestions on what wears like the Jim green lug sole but has some squish so I can walk on a hard surface all day and still be able to move when I get home?
I like the look of the 719 boot. Kinda reminds me of the red wings lineman boots. I am not fond of the speed hooks and would prefer eyelets all the way.
I'm a cook by trade' and ive been wearing the african rangers to work and on my first resole working towarsa my second. I'm going to pick up the barefoot stockmen. I Think its going to.make an excellent cycling shoe!
Your commitment to innovation is very impressive and what keeps me coming back to your brand. I am from Texas and own JG Razorbacks, which are my go-to work boots and the Buffalo African Rangers which I had planned to wear hunting and hiking but love too much to abuse as I had intended. My biggest issue is that I need to get another job to keep buying all of the boots that I want. Value for money, JG makes the best boots. Beyond that, your commitment to your customer's needs and amazing fast R&D is second to none. I work in U.S. manufacturing on the Logistics end and JG innovation is a refreshing break from the norm. Cheers and good on you and your continued success.
Incredible line-up. I would purchase them all if I could! Jim Green is the only footwear I purchase now I love all the barefoot options: stockman and trooper look incredible And definitely purchasing the 719
You're already building on the STC last. Add the steel toe cap. Job sites need safety boots. Give us a steel toe Numzaan - with leather insole and midsole.
Numzaan is a premium product. 1 piece upper. Real toe cap and heel counter. Gussetted tongue. Real leather lasting board and midsole. Polyester woven lasting board and midsole cheapens the boot. I'm not a fan.
Their polyester composite board is time tested, you can see in their resole videos that it can stand up to many years of abuse. That said if you want some very specific combination that isn't offered then custom orders are pretty reasonably priced
Already ordered a pair of Barefoot Stockmans and looking forward to delivery! Will Jim Green one day develop a safety toe boot on the barefoot last? Or have it as a custom option?
I'm super excited for both the barefoot Stockman and the barefoot African Trooper. I've resoled several pair of workbooks over the years close to zero drop but that always fights the design somewhat. I discovered the African Ranger this last year and am several months into working in them as a professional window cleaner in Seattle. They have the best grip to be up on roofs or ladders of any footwear I've worn in 24 years of this occupation. My posture has been less taxed in them as well. I can honestly say that they have been life changing. I won't be surprised if Jim Green becomes the global leader in zero drop workbooks over the next couple of years. I suspect that you're in the perfect moment in time.
So close..... Almost....... The black, smooth leather Numzaan, built on the STC last with the Tyre Wedge Sole was almost the right boot for me. Removing the leather lasting board and leather midsole, and replacing it with a "poly woven" combination makes it less desirable. The Numzaan is a premium boot, and should have all leather. Using the STC last and not adding a steel toe or composite toe? Add the safety toe. With the safety toe, it actually becomes functional for work and motorcycle rides. Is it possible to make the collar on the Numzaan higher? Maybe making it into an 8" or 10" boot? A higher boot, with leather lasting board and midsole, plus the Tyre Wedge sole, and a safety toe would be ideal for motorcycle rides and heavy duty work.
Can’t wait for the 719 bronco brown to come, it looks great. I hope it will be available on the South African store as well for international shipping :D
Very cool jacket/shirt (shacket?). Would love to see a bronco brown razorback with the jg tan lug sole. I think that would be a very cool combination. I just wanted to edit this to add I would be happy to at least be able to build something like this for a custom order. I walk/run almost 4000 km per year for work and I really need that midsole to last, but I can understand that most people wouldn't want a 'premium razorback'
Would like to see more options for steel toe boots. I highly recommend Jim greens to all of my coworkers but it’s hard to recommend the steel toe razorbacks with the lug sole for concrete floors. Any steel toe with a wedge sole for us factory workers would be great. I ordered a pair of steel toe stockmans with wedge sole and they’re much more comfortable
Well I use a custom orthotic on my Steel toe razorbacks and I’m on hard surfaces all day. You need to find an insole with good shock absorption. It’s the texon that use to reinforce the boot that creates a hard surface. I would suggest getting a steel toe razorback with a leather insole, midsole and the mini lug outsole from the baobab boot. You’ll find it mitigates the impacts very well as well as adjusts to your foot shape. And remember Jim green always said “ you can customize anything we make so long as what you want is anything from any boot off their lines”. In short they’ll do whatever you want provided you have the money and they have it in any of their boot lines.
@@matthewcaughey8898 I recommend everyone on concrete floors to get good insoles no matter the boot. The issue is good insoles are going to add $30-60 to the price of the boot and you’d be surprised how many people would rather purchase another boot that already is more comfortable out of the box. I personally have a set of thick Sole brand insoles in both of my Jim Greens and I couldn’t be happier with them
I was gonna grab the buffalo barefoot Ranger, but now I’m sold on the bronco barefoot Rangers. I might need to get some of those barefoot Stockman boots.
I can not overstate how much I want the 719 boot....that is exactly what I've been wanting since I discovered JG. I just put in my 4th order for custom AR8's 3 weeks ago and if I could I would change that order to these boots.
