Omar survived so many gun fights, attempts on his life, jumping off a 4 story balcony only to be killed out of nowhere by a kid. Yea it had shock value but it's lame.

The song never gets old. Bobby Womacks voice makes this song what it is. Let’s hope future generations don’t fuck it up.

@7:18 Klaus Nomi. I remember seeing this when it was first broadcast, and I think his appearance backing David Bowie was within a few days of this. Then he seemed to have disappeared off the face of the earth. I followed new music pretty closely in the late 70s and 80s, and was curious who this was, but had no idea until "The Nomi Song" came out in 2004. This was the pre-internet era, and some artists like Klaus Nomi or The Screamers could make a splash and then fade off into complete obscurity again, only to be feted decades later. A very different time from the highly connected and archived era we live in today, that's for sure.

There are many good shows but for reals, there hasn't been a more beautifully written one like this. And the landscape that it uses for it's written is what makes it incredible.

Omar was gay and a 🐀, if you really pay attention to this show you will see it. I thought Omar was cool enough to look past the gay stuff …kind of like the dude that helped Omar rob Avon stash in the beginning of the wire with Brandon he tried to look past it 😂😂 but yeah as I start getting older and running the streets myself man Omar was flaming hot telling everything to mcnutty and kimmy. Then on top of that he was broke as hell !!! Like how is you takin down the whole city of Baltimore and living in vacants , couldn’t even afford a bus ride out of town when he had his first bounty on his head from barksdale , yeah Omar wasn’t the cold blooded gay gangster I thought he was . And I know that sound crazy but it’s a lot of gay cold blooded men in the streets that keep it all in the streets… when Omar felt pressured he ran to mcnulty and kimmy…. Just really pay attention

The image of him sitting in his cell is an amazing Still Frame shot. If I had been in this I would have asked for a copy to frame. My friend said he saw an interview with the actor who played Omar, and the actor (im old, cant recall his name!) Had never even touched a gun before "The Wire!"
