We are Well Chuffed Railways🚂 a fun quirky channel about railways big and small.
Hi we are Rick and Pauline. Well Chuffed Railways is our quirky little RU-vid channel which is all about our days out and about visiting model railway exhibitions, heritage railways, toy fairs and lots of other lovely things. We will also be taking a closer look at my own model railway layout and reviewing the goodies we buy on our adventures. Lots of other features to come including abandoned railway locations and more. Oh and we will taking our Dog Bobby on some trips (our cat Lola will be staying home). Cheers and thanks for watching. **Please note that most comments you leave will be answered after 18:00 when we get home from work** 🙂
Hi Rick & Pauline, thank you for the video, loved it, lots of wonderful things you pointed out like the old guard van lanterns, I love the very casual way you get information from different traders, who knew Rick was such a natural at interviewing people like the 507 preservation society, cheers, Pete.👍
Hi Guys, another great video. What a collectors fair, there was something for everyone there. Hope you got some nice stuff & you make a videonof them. Again a big, big huge thankyou for giving me a mention, i,m still replying to comments. Thankyou so much guys. All the best Carl.
Pauline, I think Rick was being a very naughty boy, Gnomes for heaven sake, train spotting! I would leave that to Seagulls😂😂😂😂. By the way, you could have brought a loco named after me, Harry! Could I ask when you see some European locos, just check to see if they have a large slider on the middle of the bottom between the wheels, only finding three rail ho locos in the uk is very difficult. Have a great week Harry
Ha ha! I have a couple of gnomes in the garden much to Pauline's horror, they just appear from nowhere, or should be the Gnomewhere. We see quite a lot of continental locos with the slider underneath. Cheers Rick
When it comes to buses, my favourites are red, classic and have either the AEC Regent 3 or Regent 6/Matador truck engine and are known as RT and Routemaster.
By the way, Hoddesdon Model and Railway Club are having an Open Day on the last Sunday in August. We’re due to have trade visits from Kent Garden Railways.
You should see the railway signs and station signage at the headquarters of the Hoddesdon Model and Railway Club!! We have wagon plates, station signs, locomotive nameplates and all that!!
The train lamps were used in different ways on different railways. The Southern Railway had two sets of portable lamps, one for the back of the train and one for signalling in bad weather conditions when it might be difficult for a train driver to see the main signals.
As far as buses are concerned, mine are all Southdown Buses that are of the late 30s design because my layout is the heritage version of a “Dad’s Army’ layout.
But still, my first love at places like this have to be the train items. I have mostly Southern Railway steam locomotives, some green BR Mk1 carriages and a selection of freight wagons.
You should have come to Model Rail Crewe the following day, great show with loads of RU-vidrs at the meet and greet, there may be a combined ticket for both shows next year.
Hi Tim, we went to Bolton Toy Fair to pick up a loco that one of the traders had put away for us last year. I couldn't wait as it's a LTD edition Wrenn. We did bump into Jason at the fair and popped into the exhibition being set up afterwards. Glad it went well. Cheers Rick
I have the Mainline GWR loco you looked at and it came with a gear missing ? maybe they were supplied like that from new ? someone will know ! Runs well .
Something else railway related, it's mad to see how much that has been published over the years. Not much model trains though, but some very interesting railway memorabilia, really like the lamps, and fully complete with the Color disks, would be a nice gadget in the train room… Anyway, don't know the exact date but Happy Birthday Rick🥳 Cheers, Danny
Hi Danny, it was nice to see so much railway memorabilia and the lamps were very nice! The amount of books published is amazing and surely there must be one on private owner wagons for you? All the best and thanks for the birthday wishes. Rick
Ive still got my blue combined edition spotters book with thousands of numbers underlined good days, The days when you could wander round depots with no problems, From Scotland to Cornwall, Take care guys And dolls! Ps take the gaffer for aday out on Crewe stn she would love it?
Some top quality tat in that lot sorry to say we don’t have anything NEARLY as impressive as that even the model railway shows the stockists just don’t want to do the logistics and or getting stock. Do you realise we have not. Had a container from woodland scenics or Hornby arrive on our shores. True story so we just buy from the UK and the US with some astonishing freight upto and including 6 OO scale figures what about 15grams taking up the space of mailing what 6 pen lids. $600 AUD or $300+ POUNDS now come On that just should not be. Anyway always looking sharp see you in the next one.
Hi all You mentioned black and white photos I agree ,it’s hard to believe now we watched TV in black and white we got colour in 1970 British relay remember them 😊 All the best great posting as always Mark 😊😊
Hi there. O WOW so much to see I sure did get in to this one a lot !!!! Just great of a video mate and I do think your sound is better now ?. Did you get a now mick for you :). But ok off I am and have a great weekend!!!!! Cheers mate :).
Hi Brad, we have had the mics for a few year but I upgraded the editing software a while back. It gives me more freedom to optimise the sound levels and its money well spent. We also got a new camera a month ago which has slightly better video quality. All the best and have a great weekend. Rick
Stuart has a loco with Pauline's name written on it. Its a conversion to make a double ended Blue Pullman single car unit and is Bachman motorised. Great video and a very nice shop .A welcoming owner. Seeing the O Gauge MPD layout is well worth the visit .
Hi Garth, sounds ideal but we are both banned from spending for a while as we have bought a few locos in the past couple of weeks and 2 are blue. Great shop and owner and I'm sure you will join me in wishing him all the best. Cheers Rick
@@wellchuffedrailways We do wish him well. I am just a little worried of the location as the small shopping centre where it is situated resembled a ghost town when we went which on a Thursday .Having chatted with Stuart ,his trade relies on word of mouth and customer retention and so doesnt rely on foot flow as such .
Nice to see a real video about real items, what is the most accurate class 50 and as I grew up in Croydon what is the most accurate epb I have no layout just a static shelf
Hi, I'm guessing the Accurascale 50 or new Hornby one are as good as anything. To be honest I've not looked at them in detail and the Southern EPB is not on my radar. Now you have asked I will look out for 50s from these manufacturers in coming vids. I have two Lima 50s and these are not even Limas best models right down to their underside bogies although some people swap them out for 37 ones. Thanks for watching Rick
Hi there Rick. Well I am finally watching videos :). I have been on Holiday. So much good stuff in this one!!! So many great Layouts too wow nice:)!!!! So did you get that Locomotive at the beginning :). Great video mate and have a great day too cheers mate!!!!!
My dad serviced the Swordfish that hit the Bismark's rudder - the Tirpitz was destroyed by Lancasters with massive 10,000lb bombs in 1944. Wow, I think I saw a Corgi VW Corrado in dragon green which means its a Storm edition like my real black one only not as rare (mine is the only black Storm spec Corrado ever from VW, apperently). Thats a rare thing... I would pay mucho dinero for one of those... Choppers! Hah - I had a red Grifter, better bike because it didnt geld you if you stopped quickly. I could spend a happy day digging through those boxes for Crimson and Cream rakes, vans and coal wagons. A proper model shop, that....
Wow your dad must have had some stories to tell! Loved the Corrado and remember the road tests when it came out pitching it against the 944. The only criticism the testers made was the styling, well they got that wrong and I always loved it's squatness , kind of like a Alfa SZ in some ways. Anyway they are great cars. Give the seller a bell and get him to send you the green one. Thanks for watching Rick PS I had a Grifter.
That bachmann james without the face looked to be an absolute bargain,£14.50 is astonishing for a price, since buying one new will set you back exactly £100, and looks to just need small details, front wheels and a face
