Khrushchev said the USSR would surpass the USA by 1975. He made a mistake. It was really 1875. They did record the most enormous non-nuclear explosion ever...ever. The USA spy satellites were blinded by the blast. Boom! This is a foreshadowing of the situation in Ukraine. Also, Wile E. Coyote bought his products through Acme. He should have read the fine print. Beep! Beep!
There’s something very Soviet about the N1 projects…it looks so Soviet Union. When I first heard of it years ago I was impressed but also disappointed that it failed. Sod being the solo Soviet moon walker though lol I always think of the N1 when I see footage of Starship taking off. Not because of the explosions, but the impressiveness of all those engines…yes, for sure NASA’s F1 was incredible, but there’s something about clusters of rockets!
The design of this rocket was so advance..they just lack of computer power to control those hardwares..look at the spacex starship now..they are similar in design, with many small engines..
By the way, the USSR publicly denounced any ‘race to the moon’. Their goals were scientific at that point. Going to the moon was an achievement, an astonishing one, but it didn’t have any scientific benefit. Soviets already returned a sample from the moon. The real achievement is a lunar base now. That has many, many benefits, it will be interesting to see how this develops. Soviets were more focused on probes to other planets. This N-1 rocket was designed to send probes to other planets by Sergei Korolev (his R-7 rocket is still used today, for 10 years it was the only way to go to space, used by USA and made by Russia since 1991, but launched in Baikonaur Cosmodrone in Kazakhstan.) He died in the 60s and thus Soviet rocket development slowed, although they still beat the US in most achievements.
ватоьот не ной, ты должно кукарекать дальше за сдохших рашистов, за это тебе дают дошик чтобы ты не сдох с голода, если бы ты не был таким конченым смог бы найти работу, слава Украине 🇺🇦 привет из Питера
So this is a situation where I think some AI generated video would be cool. Could show how launch and separation would have looked and it could appear realistic too.
It’s a credit to the engineers and visionaries to design, engineer and build such an incredible rocket. They did not have the funding nor the adequate testing arrangements to make it a successful programme.
