My name is Duane and this is what I call Homebrew Subaru. I'm a Red Seal Automotive Tech by trade, so I spend a lot of my time repairing, maintaining and upgrading my vehicles. Subaru's are what I like the most but plenty of others make it into the garage.

Thank you for making possibly the most comprehensive video on this particular replacement! One question. Every video I’ve seen in one way or another has talked about “loosening” the A/C line. I know any kind of disconnect that would involve opening that system is a big no no. It seemed like you were able to finagle around it. Any advice on how to approach this with the air line placement being where it is?

I know I'm 2 years too late to be relevant in the comments. But I'm 37, this past year I was diagnosed with discouraged borderline personality disorder. And I am unpacking all kinds of childhood trauma that I have been shoving aside for decades. Trying to kick addictions, toxic relationship habits, anxiety, depression, anger issues, and a slew of other things stemming from multiple types of abuse growing up and just generally a lot of bullying and torment as a kid I've done mushrooms in the past. Usually just for fun. Fun body high, one visuals, giggly and relaxing. They were always golden teachers that we were doing. In 2018 however I started to really learn the potential that they had for introspection and healing. My best friend and I had a falling out for over a year but at my buddy's bachelor party we were able to hash things out while taking some shrooms together I was able to put in place how I felt about a certain relationship I was in on a subsequent trip. But they were not easy to come across out here. Everybody was just smoking weed instead. And I enjoyed that but there are some negatives that come along with it Recently however I have seen so much of the research on microdosing and even macrodosing to treat mental illness. The original use of these mushrooms usually dates back to a lot of spiritual healing practices. So it makes sense Luckily I've been able to find a source, and try out all of these new different strains. And I have been using it to confront a lot of the things I was talking about. Primarily helping to try and kick an addiction, reconnect with my girlfriend, reconnect with old friends, and try to be a peace with so many things that I let put me in pain A few days ago however I finally really took a major dose. I don't know if it was quite 14 g but it had to be close to 10, and it included powerful strains like enigma and albino penis envy. I was in a hotel room that I rented specifically to do this. And my trip did not go as planned at all. I was unprepared for how unfamiliar and uncomfortable the hotel room would feel. I was not able to stay in bed and listen to music with my eyes closed, I was incredibly physically ill from it. Horrific nausea but unable to throw up, sweating profusely to the point of taking all my clothes off. So instead of confronting things in a comfortable environment, I was freaking out in the bathroom with all kinds of terrible thoughts racing through my head about what was going to happen to me and that I had totally messed up and underestimated what was going to come from this I scrambled, trying to grab the rest of the shroom stash thinking I was going to have to get rid of them, trying to debate whether I was going to be able to stay in the hotel room or if I was going to start freaking out and have them call management or medical services. Deciding whether I could be safe just riding it out in my truck, or if I should just find a spot in the woods or something. And even debating if I just had to call 911 and face the consequences. It was terrifying. I kept telling myself I was going to be okay and that I needed to do this Finally when I managed to get all my clothes on and gather up everything I was going to try and stash in the truck, I walked back out into the hotel room and felt the air conditioning on me, I felt the nauseous subside, despite still having visual distortion, I felt very mentally sober. And I just breathed out loud that the worst of it had passed. I beat it. And if I could beat that level of fear and discomfort, there is no reason I couldn't do the simple things I needed to do like call old friends, or decide that I was done with addiction. Terrifying as it was, it is the most impactful experience I've ever had with these All of that being said, I don't think I'm ever going to dose that high again, especially if I'm not in a spot where I am isolated from strangers. This hotel is at a busy intersection and you can hear everybody else opening doors and talking. It was bad I'm going to take one more mild trip to do some thinking, and after that I'm going to start trying microdosing. I've been reading a ton of books and watching a ton of videos and really studying this though and I really believe there is something to this for medicinal purposes. It can be fun, but it can be so incredibly helpful too Ultimately I can still kind of say that I've never had a bad experience using them. Because even this bad trip, ended with profound positive results. Thanks for sharing your story man
@HomebrewSubaru

It might be difficult for others to come across this comment but those that begin to seek it, will find it. About 6 months after this video I slowed down the very large doses. I had a trip that was eve more difficult than this one was at 10 grams and since that time I haven't been able to get that much into me. I am very overly cautious where I use psychedelics and how much I take. Low amounts I can use while doing other things without too much issue. Higher doses are a lockdown situation. That way nothing outside of the trip can interfere with it. Thanks for watching

FYI for anyone watching this video for information or a tutorial prior to doing this themselves, just a little piece of advice don’t do what he did and whack your rotor with a hammer to get it to come off because had he taken even two minutes of his time to hop online and look or open a service manual he would’ve seen that the random holes on the rotor in between the lug bolts are coincidentally threaded for a specific size bolt, and you simply put that size bolt in them and slowly branch them in, and it will push against the backside surface, which will then essentially pry the rotor away from the face of the hub if it seized so you don’t have to whack anything with the hammer and risk damaging other things
@HomebrewSubaru
@HomebrewSubaru Месяц назад
Only an IDIOT would hit a good rotor with a hammer hard enough to damage it OR anything else. F'n imagination that some of you have, I can tell you've never worked a day in a shop. BTW it's an M8x1.25 that generally all rotors use for service removal. Thanks for coming out though.
@jawojnicki
@jawojnicki 22 дня назад
I JUST did this job on my 01 Forester Those threaded holes are for SHIT if the hub is rusted really good to the rotor All that happens is when you bottom out the M8 bolt on the hub it just keeps jumping threads on you Sometimes you MUST hit it to get it free! Thanks for the diagnosis part showing the play in the cv joints! About to do this repair on mine (275k miles), and wondering if I should replace anything else while i have it apart? bearings, shocks, etc. I plan on replacing both front cv's, ball joints and possibly the knuckle on one bc i snapped the head off the pinch joint! might try to extract it buuuuuut, you know how thats gonna go and I aint tryna helicoil a steering component on something that goes highway speeds.
@HomebrewSubaru
@HomebrewSubaru Месяц назад
It is possible to drill straight through the knuckle and use a high grade bolt and nut. I've done a couple and seen others do the same. The CVs may not like to come out of the hubs, they like to seize on the spline. I would plan to use those parts and just keep in mind you might need more parts if things don't come apart as they should. Be nice to change the bearings at that mileage.

I'm currently dealing with this right now. I don't know if this is a "hack" or not, but if your window is up, get a small flat mirror and a piece of tape and tape it to the far side of the door and it gives you a pretty clear view of the screws. Much easier to see if you're stripping them. If the window is stuck down, like mine was, give the motor a couple healthy taps with a hammer or socket wrench. That freed mine up enough to get it back up. When the window is down, you have far less space to work.

Hey, I’ve been watching a lot of your videos lately on your other channel, found this one, idk why I feel so compelled to comment on this one…I’m going to be taking a high dose trip in a couple days for my 30th birthday. I can relate to so much of what you’re talking about, what’s weird is my last mushroom trip I had this trauma brought back up from having a kidney stone at 9 years old, I was wondering how experiencing such intense pain at that age affected me. Idk there’s wayyy more I don’t get into on RU-vid, but honestly I consider myself a pretty broken person sometimes, I often feel isolated in my own mind, and sometimes borderline insane, I wish I could talk more openly sometimes, but one of the reasons I don’t is so that people don’t worry, ultimately I’m okay, I just know myself very well. There’s something about your videos, I can feel something through them and it just..I can’t explain it, it just makes me feel okay. So thank you for this one and all the others 🤍
@HomebrewSubaru
@HomebrewSubaru 2 месяца назад
This is the video that caused me to start the other one. The feedback here was very surprising. I made a couple of videos but realized the content should have it's own channel. Getting up there in dosage can be really challenging. I was pushing the limit to either break myself or find answers as to why I was the way I am. Repeated trips start to change the tolerance level and the trip overall. Imagination and visuals can really start to become something more. Almost physical. The out of body is more likely. I have been watching you longer than when I more recently commented this year. After seeing a few videos I knew we were similarly minded people. What I discovered is we're all broken to a degree. Everyone misses out on a little something somewhere and it affects everyone differently. It's going through the hardships that make each individual stronger and more capable of survival. The world has developed into a very psychological place and it's only normal to wonder how much different your own psyche is from others. For me at that point I was able to suffice with the idea that at this point in my life, I am currently more developed intellectually and spiritually. Psychedelics can be dangerous. Repeated consistent use will alter a persons day to day reality. A person can start developing short stints of psychosis in between trips. HPPD is a strange thing to go through. Just be careful in that respect as you continue your psychonaut journey. There is going to be rough times and maybe you haven't been through the worst. Always remind yourself it's a temporary thing and you will come back. I think you're as developed as I am and you will be just fine out there. Take your time, patience is definitely the key here.
