I watched your videos years ago on the process of rebuilding these Subaru engines, I just wanted to say thank you we have build probably about 6 wrx engines since the last one pushing about 550 hp on a stock bottom end, that’s as far as we are gonna push it. But I do appreciate your videos they have been very informative

you gonna use the 04 sti mls head gaskets?

Just standard replacement MLS gaskets. Nothing too fancy with this one, just lots of cleaning and resealing.

Are you going to machine the heads? I agree with Snotrocket…the turbo gaskets are the way to go. I’ve never seen them fail.

I've seen plenty of people use them but I've never had an aftermarket MLS gasket fail. The STi gaskets are twice the thickness and no significant benefit for an NA motor but I don't mind people using them either. I have them in the Impreza.

No machining. These gaskets were only seeping oil so a quick surface cleaning is all they need.
