Our journey from a old imported German fire fighter truck to a fully functioning expedition truck . Our base truck is a Mercedes Benz 1222 AF made 1992 with a OM 441 engine, 220 horse power, V6 cylinder 11.3 liter diesel.
I am passionate about inspiring and encouraging individuals to embark on the journey of building their own Expedition Truck.
An Expedition Truck is not just a vehicle; it's a reflection of one's adventurous spirit, a mobile home that enables exploration of remote places, and a canvas for personal creativity.
Thank you for your videos! I'm building a sliding lift mechanism to raise a recumbent trike to the top of my car so that I can transport it without having to lift it there myself, or obscuring the license plate or tail lights, and gas struts will be very handy for extending and retracting the lift.
It's a building product world of sign. There's 2 different products. Same thing two different manufacturers - one is called Alumabond and the other is Di-bond. It's basically an aluminum/vinyl sandwiched substrate
Air cushions and a compressor seems like a nicer way to jack any car in any situation. Stores flatter than a good garage jack if it's a road-side compressor, lifts more, is gentler on the vehicle no matter where you place it, and takes less aiming and manual work to get up. Where does one get such cushions?
Donnerwetter! Go on!
Yes it does but you need to make sure you prep accordingly, means sanding the metal before painting and also sanding ( roughing ) the paint before primer applying and at all times dust and grease free surfaces.
Quite amazed to see the truck had front free wheeling hubs to save fuel.. This is a feature on smaller vehicles like toyota landcruiser dodge Ram etc... It disconnrcts the front differential from rotating freely in 2 wheel drive.. Way 2 go...!!!
Is there no accommodation in the math for a 2nd gas strut? Ie, if two gas struts, cut the load weight in half? 2 struts you reduce or add distance? I’m not sure what 2x struts do to the equation. Thanks!
Dear Oscar, I totally agree with your statement for the springs and the force / function of them. As I constructed my subframe in 2022/2023 I followed the same philosophy. And as it is most times when you make things yourself, they are always heavier and stronger, compared with those of mass-production-lines.
Thanks for this Video Oscar, although I'm not convinced about the weight that can be lifted by 2 persons versus 1 person 💪🤣😂 😀 In the internet you can find a configurator which gives you the exact type of gasspring. You can search for it under the name "gasspringsshop" Also it gives the exact position where to mount etc..etc..etc.. You can define also if the hinges are on the front or on the back of the lid. And you get a simulation of the opening and closing movement + force. It is an English site so many people can use it. Oh....important to say: I have no interests in this Firm nor any family relation or business relation with them. But it will be a good help for all people looking for struts.
The subframe is mounted fix to the chassis, with a connection at the most-rear end. There is a thick plate (10 or 12mm) welded to the subframe and tightly bolted (M12-M14) to the chassis. The wholes in this plate should be 1mm wider than the bolt diameter. This is to allow some movement between chassis and frame when the chassis is in torsion.
Frans explained it pretty good thanks guys. For better understanding I recommend watching the original video. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-AofUFJdpx7k.html
