It’s amazing how your brain can immediately begin to rationalize those odds when you have self confidence. You first think to yourself “yeah but how many of those kids in those sports are just there because their parents told them to play? Or because they’re bored?”. Then you think “also, think of how many kids are there and have fun, but they don’t really try that hard.” How many kids do try but just are not physically gifted? How many that are gifted give 100%? Like really 100% not just a few practices here and there. How many are willing to go as far as I am for it? Because I feel like I’d give anything. Eventually you realize the numbers mean absolutely nothing to the man who believes he can and will do it. He doesn’t just want to go pro, that’s a given. He wants to be the greatest of all time
Missed field goals and drops are directly tied to human performance calling that luck is a stretch. However the shape of a football says it all. When it hits the turf the football gods decide who gets it. That's luck in my book
Unfortunately, the parameters of your model omits almost the entirety of Jordan’s career and all of Bird’s; therefore, it cannot be used to render an accurate measurement of their clutch-time efficiency and proficiency. This makes the video pretty much completely useless, but entertaining nonetheless.
I almost shed a tear when the clips of the kids playing sports came on. Baseball was my life! I knew in my heart I wouldn't make it to the league but that never stopped me from giving it my all. The best memories of my life were made on those fields. Thanks for this amazing video. You just gained a new subscriber ❤
Oooh! "Wow....what a fun, fascinating video this was to put together." This editing, montage, communication is just superb! Just love it! Very inspiring for someone who loves to edit and create cinematic and artistic pieces of content, education and entertainment!
Wait... did you really ignore the fact that pro isnt always just the top league? England had 4 professional foorball/soccer leagues. Baseball has the minors. Basketball has the G league. And then there is playing in other markets. The number of people who will become pro athletes is indeed very small, but you really arent taking everything into account.
Well done. A little cutsie - but hey. There’s another level to professional athletes. Maybe a few more levels. This Quiet Eye study doesn’t and CAN’T explain the ultra elite athlete (they are very very few). They have a gift you cannot teach.
actually our eyes are literally just extensions of our brains...during development in the womb when the skull is forming....your brain begins to extend outward in a tiny vine that makes its way to the eye sockets in which it grows to fit the mold. Just some biology for yall. Also...and not to brag but maybe confession? idk.....it will be interpreted by envy or hate as bragging and wisdom as personal conviction...but I digress. Ranked #3 in the world for MW3 on the leader boards and am still top 10% of ALL cod players throughout the history of the game from first online game until now. Was always top 3 in 1st grade for this math game we played with the class called "Around The World" that transitioned into a jump of 3 grades from 2nd to 5th for math. "Around The World" is where the teacher would have 2 students go up to white board , the teacher would call out a math problem and the first to complete would stay up at the board while the other sat back down, 1 cycle through all of the students and the game was over. For whatever reason...(probably my head injury falling off of the top bunk of a bunk bed and splitting my head wide open had something to do with it, my theory...my brain became more alert in that moment due to the sever blood loss, and as a result my internal systems went to defcon 5 which switching my brain activity from calm to now hyper active allowing me to do some pretty crazy things with numbers and visuals...the visuals still give me tremendous cognitive dissonance for I have no way to transmit the very real images created inside my skull to others in a real way.) I've always had the fastest reactions of my whole family. I was adopted also by the way so I dont have any reference points when it comes to hereditary stuff. Yeah...I have something going on thats powerful....never speaking keeps me a ghost, I dont want to be a ghost anymore, Maybe I can test their new AI and break it....show them how truly powerful the minds visual production can be.
The fun part is, curry was actually going blind, he had a degenerative eye sicknees. He Got help from a contact linse, wich had “stopped” the decease for now.
here is the flow in this model - kicking is according to the model luck. Yet, Kansas have the best kicker and pay 7 mio per year for him. Nope... this is wrong! Fumbles, this is is a more complicated discussion and I tend to agree. But interception is also skills from both QB and Defensive players - there are player called ballhogs for a reason. Luck does exist - but this model is flawed... Obviously coin flip is a luck, and Kansas were on the bad side (vs Patriots, which literally won on a coin flip, and a D-offside which nearly happens and is more luck then a missed kicked for sure).... improve the model
1 in 10000 really isn't that bad in terms of odds. I was capable of going pro in online gaming, but the thing that stopped me was the likelihood of being able to make a living of of it. This was just before the age of Twitch TV, so had it been a few years later, it would have actually been a viable option given steamer revenues.
From the beginning of this the statistic is flawed and inapplicable. When going pro you’re competing against other competitive people. The overwhelming majority of people who play sports are not trying to go pro.
Was that 246 EPL debuts or professional debuts because really to understand English football you have to talk about the league pyramid which is made up of many different leagues. The top 4 of which are "professional". However even in the lower leagues you still get paid with top players earning good wages compared to ordinary people. Some player will make it through the academy and debut for their club, others will go on loan to lower leagues clubs. If you're in the lower leagues you're still a professional footballer and you could still make it into a top English team or even move to a foreign league.
This only takes into account the top level which for baseball and football is not the only version of going pro. You can play in AAA or champion league and still be “pro”

Very interesting stats. Only suggestion is to check the pronunciation of debut. The t is silent.
I feel like a variable in this is the prevalence of positions in any given sport. A center in thr NBA, there's only a couple on esch team (and 30 franchises). Whereas a wide reciever in the NFL would be one of three to six (in a league of 32 teams). This, against the number of NCAA baseball teams (300) or NCAA football teams (134) with however many Centers or Wide Recievers on their rosters. The more numerous specialties make for better margins than highly specialized ones (like a hockey goalie).
