You will really save your money if you learn music theory and audio synthesis, so you will be less dependent on pre-made elements like samples and Synth patches. You will need an audio interface. Monitors (speakers) are essential to preserve your hearing. Music production is expensive, but manufacturers will always be pushing software and hardware at you with the promise that your music will magically improve.
There is a workaround for the monophonic overlap as long as your patch is set torespond to velocity sensitivity. You drop a note on the very last step of the sequence and shift its start point to +99 and its velocity to 1. The note will trigger but wont be audiable allowing it to act like a choke/mute at the loop point. A similar technique can be used when triggering things like vocal samples in the drum tracks to add variety. For example if you have a 3 second vocal sample you can set it to mute wherever you drop a second note set at 1 velocity. Now if you set the mute probability to say 50% the sample will play the shortened version v the full version 50% of the time. Great trick for adding variety over time
Hello Gabe, great tutorial… I have a question 🙋, if I only chose 1 velocity while auto sampling, how do I add different velocities if I decide I want them on all the samples in that program later?
Man the noizie on these are just the worst😅 Btw speaking of midi, the electribe has midi adapters, that are connected differently (internal) than most other devices. If you haven't, try out an original midi adapter.
I have a Digitone... and honestly... the Cycles looks/seems more fun/approachable to me. Considering selling mine for the Cycles (crazy as that may sound to some).
I thought I’d like it.. but the price.. the micro usb port?!? There’s too many wtf things with it and it’s ludicrously expensive. I’m interested in the programmable nts3 though..
I think the ProjectSwitching Problem is "ByDesign". If you would have 6 bars running in one Project, and on the other device, the Project has 8 bars looping, the devices get out of sync when one is not forced to start "immediately" controlled by the main. (or did i get the problem wrong?)
I've been really wanting a ju-06a, but I'm thinking this is the better bang for the buck. Idk, I don't really like the cymbals or crashes. At least I don't think 808 & 909 are enough.
Have you tried a Tracks + iPad setup? I'm about to give it a go, just as a way to give synth voices for the two midi channels for much cheaper than an mc 101.
Love mine, and like with everything you have to work around its limitations. One thing you touch on is the baked in synths are quite weak. You can nail sweet spots and some of the effects in board are just miles above the attached effects to the plugins
thanks for this great info, about the 2 setups, a'm in to witchhouse, and looking to get some extra output in my sound now i only used vst in bitwig, like you want a way to leave the computer bit more !!!
Im basically looking at 2 synths to start with and that is the Behringer Model D or the MiniFreak, im very drawn to the MicroFreak but i feel uncertain because of the keybed (strictly speaking from a first synth point of view, since i think the touchstrips looks suuperfun)
If I were to buy every plugin Akai has, it'd be well over a grand. While I think the machine itself is a useful piece, I'm just not sold on it with 2gb of ram, limited storage, running a free proprietary software you can download on the computer. They're milking the MPC legacy so hard releasing 17 versions of literally the same exact hardware rearranged with/without keys, speakers. I want to love it, but I can't.
Hey mate. Thank you so much for your very nice vid. It helps a lot. Do you have any idea of "HOW get the mechanical tail" of my Keyscape nice piano i'm trying to Autosampling ? I mean when I'm releasing the touch, like AFTER TOUCH, i would love to get the recording of the nice mechanical sound of my VST to get more natural. Right now, the sound is just stoping with NO SOUND and it sounds too much cut. Thank you
As a long time user . The 707 is a waste of knobs and the looper bars cant be preset . It does some crazy unexplained stuff to the synth parameters causing havic . Stand alone it is better yet tends to hang when you overwork it . Much like the red electribe . Roland much like all of the other gear they sell is in bad need of updates and fixes . Nit to mention it needs better sampling edits . Plus each track does not have its own appreciator. Meaning you can't use different arp Parameters per track. Most likely the same guts will be found in the sh4d and the jupiter x m. They pay way more attention to sp404 My opinion is anything they're listing. New in the music store should have current updates. Take a look at their lineup Korg, the same thing awful
Hi Thanks a bunch for your video. Could you please show mw how to set different colours for different pads in Maschine Mikro MK3. I want a colour for pad one which would be kick and pad two another colour which would be snare and so on and so forth.
Bomba, adoro, dai tuoi video tutorial al tuo modo di produrre musica. Technone proprio come diciamo in Italia. Dajeee Saluti e abbracci da Italia ma ora mi in Spagna ahahah daje bross
Hi ! Been following you for years and for some bad reasons, I only recently got the MV-1. I thought I would be limited by the sections system (instead of scenes on the 101). But actually, it's not the case, on the contrary. It turned out to be exactly what I needed : focusing and getting to finish songs ; mixing with my Minifreak, recording vocals. Needed a couple days to master it but now that's second nature. I feel I will never feel limited with the amount of tracks or steps. Especially since, you can get further from the 16*128 steps limit (128 unique measures) in several ways. 1) by overdubbing with an external synth in vocal mode ! because the "vocals" tracks gives your 12 minutes (6 in stereo) which are completely independant from the sections data -- you can repeat a section but overdub with external synth layers to make something drastically different 2) by reducing the tempo and changing the measures scale (1/8) you can get the equivalent of 512 unique measures (in unquantized mode). Dream standalone machine for me, esp. since I suffer from eyestrain. The tiny screen just to check parameters is perfect for me ; for the rest, the pads & lights are the screen. I tend to think it's not THAT niche actually. There are many people who enjoy making songs with lyrics and are not fond of sticking in front of the computer for hours.
I've watched several of your video's about loading my own samples into my circuit tracks and i've still yet to be successful. You tend to be quite fast, i struggle to keep up with you even if i keep going back a few seconds. I can get into Components no problem but if i remove some factory samples that i'm not keen on and replace them with mine, then send them to circuit tracks they don't appear in the synth(s), or drum samples. My samples are wav files, mainly drum hits or short drum loops, i seem to be spending more time trying to work this sample issue out, than actually producing tracks. I have an Electribe2 that i can import samples into no problem but i just can't get my head around Components. Easy when you know how. Cheers. 🎼🎹
Hey everyone! Just curious to see how this holds up in 2024? I'm still on fence on buying one after hearing about the cpu issues. Wondering if they fixed it by now?
Thank you for your tutorials on this awesome machines 😊 It helped me a lot, but i have a question… when i connect my Rhythm to the Tracks or vice versa the input levels are soo low on the machine that is the „Master“ - what did i wrong? I connect from the 6,3 Out to the 6,3 in. Thank you for answering my question!
Glad they've been helpful! If the Rhythm is the master, double check that the -12 dB pad isn't turned on. Other than that, you may have to contact Novation support. I've seen other people encounter stuff coming in weirdly quiet, and I'm wondering if it's a bug with a select few units.
Gabe, have u figured out why the Microfreak sounds are way quieter when connected to the Tracks? If I listen to Microfreak with headphones its loud, but the final mix from my speakers its super quiet. Do I need a DAW or adjust the levels or a mixer? Its very frustrating. I look for your response. Thx.
I unfortunately won't be much help here, since I was able to get enough volume no problem. I did have the Microfreak cranked a good bit. You may need to contact Novation support, as I've seen a few people mention this issue. I'm wondering if it's a hardware problem/bug only affecting a few Circuit Tracks units.
