Planning on buying... I hear another youtube saying that on higher speeds (120kpmh+) you get this turbulance or buffeting of air from beneath. Shaking your helmet and such, making it uncomfortable. What is your experience?
@SergeyVikultsev
@SergeyVikultsev 2 дня назад
First of all, you can say similar things about plenty motorcycles. That all depends on people. Some people tall, some short, also weight is different. Based on that, behavior of the bike can change. Someone who weight 60kg will have different experience from the one with the weight of 100kg. How often do you ride 120km/h? I would tell you that even big tourers can be uncomfortable on such speeds sometimes. The best probably is to understand what this bike is for and match is with that you need from a motorcycle. This is not a highway machine. This motorcycle is designed for b-roads and city use.
@Eellie87
@Eellie87 2 дня назад
@@SergeyVikultsev Thanks for the feedback. I live in the Netherlands and to go to nice B roads will need to go abroad, hence via highway. Also for commuting I use the highway. I'm taking it for a testride end of this month, so will check myself. If a problem maybe a puig screen would be an option.
@SergeyVikultsev
@SergeyVikultsev 2 дня назад
@@Eellie87 Yes, better to test. Of course some things are same for everybody, but in the end of the day, everyone has different experience. The bike can stay on highway, actually it can do long distance easily. The question how comfortable you are on this bike over the long distance. For me this bike is a joy, like it for everything, but there are people who don't like it for its sportiness.

Great video! Thanks for sharing that. As someone thats tall (187cm) and avout 100kg, I had been considering this bike (€9700 GT version) along with the TS660 (€8600 with side paniers) and Versys 650 (€7600 Tourer version). I'm a new rider, just passed my test and only have 1000km on a '09 Bandit 650S and prior to that a 1500km trip on a Honda XR150L (through rural Vietnam over two weeks). After that adventure in Vietbam I knew i had to get my licence and my own bike. After your review I'm thinking perhaps the Versys would be the best value of the 3 given the prices here in Italy. I'm just worried I wouldnt find it as fun (lacks power?) as the TS660 or Tracer 7. I had also considered the Transalp as I love the look and I know it would be a fun bike. Though perhaps a bit much for my level of experience, use case and its also most expensive (€10700 without panniers). I'm looking for something to use for weekend fun rides, hopefully some multi day tours and eventually 2-up riding once I gain more experience (and my gf comes around to the idea). What do you think would suit me best and is best bang for the buck? Ultimately though I'm hoping to test ride all of them.
@SergeyVikultsev
@SergeyVikultsev 2 дня назад
I’d be choosing from Tracer, TS660, and Transalp. Those are the great bikes for what you want to do. TS is better in terms of comfort and tech, Yamaha more robust and fun, Honda will be the most capable, but price (you’ll need to spend extra for travel accessories) and tubed tires.

Sorry, I cannot find single reason for choosing MT-07 over Tracer 7. Maybe only the looks if someone prefers naked bikes. Tracer 7 is so good in the city, so fast in the mountains, I also took it to the race track and it performed very well. Not to mentions its ability to travel. Perfect DO IT ALL bike for someone who does not need over 100 horsepower.

If you ride longer distances regularly and want to travel through different countries, get the Tracer 700. Way better bike for that than the Mt-07. I even would say the Tracer 700 is better than the MT-07 even when only doing short trip stuff. It's more practical, better wind protection and you won't have that WHSHSHSHSHSHSHSHSHSHS wind noise all the time. I love my Tracer.

Had this bike for almost 3 years now. Disagree with the temptation to rev the engine. It already makes 90% of its max torque at 3000rpm, and from 7500rpm to the 10000rpm redline it has nothing more to give (that's how Triumph differentiates it from the 900GT which ekes out another measly 10bhp in this top-end range). There's no joy to be had in wringing the tits off the engine, plus the t-plane crank gets vibey in protest. Looking to switch out the front sprocket to a 17T one coz I think the gobs of torque down low should handle it easily, but I'll hv to wait a while coz the stock chain and sprockets look set to last 50000km since I also run a chain oiler. The front Brembo monoblocks are phenomenal and are dead easy to service yourself. The rear needs a punch tool to knock out the retaining pin. The only grief I had was that the front would give the shakes at low speeds, regardless of tyre pressure. Not a problem if I had both hands on the bars, but hands off then the bars would start to shake when coasting. Got rid of the Michelins at the 24000km mark, the was problem solved automatically. No idea what the issue was. Then my key decided to sprout legs and walk away, and it took 6 bloody months to get a replacement from Triumph.
@SergeyVikultsev
@SergeyVikultsev 5 дней назад
Thanks fo sharing. Yes, front is not very well planted sometimes. But overall not a problem. Vibes can be avoided if you are cruising on lower RPMs, agreed. But in some places, not possible. Say the area where I am riding represents serpentines and mountain passes. You always need to rev the engine to ride actively. And that's where vibrations are noticeable.

@SergeyVikultsev My 850 has only 1500km on it ,I've just about eliminated that it's tyre related by using a range of different pressures,speed,load, and surfaces. I've blocked the rear vent hole on the rear guard. I temporarily covered in around the rear subframe but still the same noise. My next elimination is to remove the rear wheel and make sure it has been greased properly,just a note I mentioned it to the dealer before and at the first service and he heard the noise but said it was wind related,I'm not convinced.

I recommend staying away from this motorcycle. I bought mine in May of this year, and the clutch failed within the first 1000 km. The dealer here in The Netherlands reported that other owners have the same fault, and they are at the moment clueless when we get the warranty claim. It is such a nice machine, but the clutch issued killed it all.

I own the 900 GT Pro 2023. I've done 10k miles in 10 months. I agree with everything he said. I love this bike. Get quad lock wireless charging with Evo mount for your phone and keep a dim adaptor with usb outs if you need additional USB ports. The 900 had a bit more grunt due to mapping than the 850. The 900 only gets vibey around 85mph but you can just enable the cruise if that's an issue for you. Get shot of the metzler tires and put Michelin road 6 on. It's a really nice usable amount of power. Only gripe for me is mirrors poke out a bit fat when filtering and if you knock a mirror out can come loose and you have to get the spanners out. No regrets whatsoever.

I sold my MT09 Tracer because of the bad suspension. I did everything to set it up right but it just wasn’t right for me. And at high speeds (160 kmh +) the bike was shaking on the rear. Did a test drive on a big German adventure bike with electronic suspension…. So much beter! Never had any regret trading in the Tracer. I hope that the Tracer 9 has a better suspension nowadays, but in my opinion the cheap suspension is to keep the price low and the bike interesting.

I'm really struggling between these two bikes. Triumph Tiger Sport 660 with panniers and all the details that comes with GT+ as a stock is 30% difference in price. On other hand for that 30% more you get at least 50% better motorcycle with Yamaha. Do you think the same? I mean 6 sensor IMU, radar crusie control, more power, better tft, better suspension etc for 30% more money. Would you recommend me go for Tracer 9 since you also moved from Tiger to Tracer :D
@SergeyVikultsev
@SergeyVikultsev 23 дня назад
Depends on what you expect from the motorcycle. Tracer 9 overall is more "serious" bike, as you definitely can crunch the miles on that bike, plus it will have all the latest tech. It is also bigger if you need to travel two up and it can carry more weight. But, if you mostly commuting you don't need all of that, tiger will do the job, and it also comfy on shorter distances.
@raqacs
@raqacs 23 дня назад
@@SergeyVikultsev Make sense. I expect it to be good enough for everyday riding and good for longer trips as well. I can see potential issue with Tiger Sport 660 when I do longer trips but on the other hand I see it as a better commuter bike due to smaller size. :D it's tough :D
@SergeyVikultsev
@SergeyVikultsev 23 дня назад
@@raqacs Don't discount Tiger for it's size. If you are a shorter rider this is very capable bike. I saw people doing 5-6k trips on those bike. Actually Tiger 660 is one of my favourite bikes overall, I think this is a great package for the money you pay.
@raqacs
@raqacs 23 дня назад
@@SergeyVikultsev I think it's fits me regarding the size. I am 181 but also 115kg. I like it's nimble and easy to ride everyday. But I am just thinking now since when you add panniers and stuff to Tiger it costs around regular version of Tracer 9 which comes with adjustable suspension and more power but do I need more power than Triumph has to offer? Maybe on the Highway, not sure otherwise.
@SergeyVikultsev
@SergeyVikultsev 23 дня назад
@raqacs you probably don’t need more power than triumph can offer. It is punchy engine, very capable. You’d need to rev it a bit, and also side wind maybe an issue, but again, just take the bike based on what you need from it.

My opinion after 16.000 km in 3 months with Yamaha Tracer 7 2024: Pros: The engine gives you the feel of power This bike is light (194 kg wet) and feels light Is very maneuverable The engine sounds quite well It looks fine (more a sports bike than a tourer) Some of these cons are personal preferences based on my style of riding (more sportive) Cons: Suspensions (front and back) are not fully configurable! You have only preload and rebound and no option for compression settings. Suspensions on a bumpy road become a nightmare (in my opinion) because of the lack of access to compression settings (1.83 m and 90 kg) Because of this behavior (suspensions), the bike starts to become a little unstable at high speed when you need to brake aggressively or lean. The brakes are not weak, but they are also not strong enough for acceleration that you can obtain from this bike between 0-150 km/h Downshifting is quite "brutal" if is done without a rev-match...you can easily skid if you are not careful. Because the engine braking is very powerful, you need to work a lot with the clutch lever, and the clutch behavior just doesn't feel good (I don't know how to explain this in English, sorry). Also, when you are leaning hard in a curve because the engine is powerful and the throttle response is not smooth, you really need to mitigate this with the clutch, and it is not easy. Even with all these cons, I still really love this bike and enjoy riding this bike! ... avoid bumpy roads PS: I will not recommend this bike as a first bike for a beginner

About electronics, i don't complain (my first bike, started riding 2yrs now) i think yamaha thought this bike as an old school one where the rider needs to think what he's doing with the throttle/brakes.
