If you're on chrome, please install the indie wiki shortcut, youd be surprised how many games have an actual wiki that isnt spammed to hell with ads since Fandom is always on the top of the list.
1:35 If you're doing a symmetrical area like that, you *can* make it work - but you need to use something eye catching, like a primary color stripe on each door, really obvious signage, etc. It makes it work when it otherwise would not.
0:50 I'm a fan of the skinny tunnel fake out. You enter a tight skinny tunnel, fighting melee enemies (like pinkies) then you open up both sides of the tunnel into a later arena with a lot more monsters; several maps have made great use of that one.
I tolerated the massive ads they put onto their pages but nowadays half the time I try to use fandom I end up getting an unavoidable redirect to a sketchy site. The second or third time it happened when I was looking up different pages for different properties I personally blacklisted them.
I always make sure to add -FANDOM to my web searches wherever I can. The only FANDOM wikis I still use are the ones without any alternatives or the Megami Tensei one since the new independent wiki is nowhere close to finished.
I know this video is about DOOM 1993 and DOOM 2, but I wanted to mention DOOM 3 because the main menu music for DOOM 3 is inspired by the song “Lateralus” by Tool.
I was making a map pack for doom, my idea for balance was to make the chaingun have a cooldown, in a nother Wad that i did not finish the player starts with a weak bfg that deals a huge burst damage but is very slow.
Lot of different fandoms (ha) did this. I'm a huge fire emblem fan can two wiki's exist as well. The fandom one is poorly ran and unmoderated and while it's better then it used to be, still has a lot of blatantly wrong information. Same with the Terraria wikis
3:17 Ever since my first map, i always remembered to make it compatible with all difficulties and multiplayer CO-OP, Why? Because i can feel the pain lower skill players feel when they have to play on ultra violence, this rule is KEY to making a good map pack (And for co-op, it's more of a good bonus for people that want to play with friends, i also did it so i can play with my brother).
If you fall into a hole and cannot go back up then how is it 2D? In a purely 2D game it would not matter how "deep" you are in since it's technically a "2D top down shooter" according to them. This fact alone debunks already the 2D-ness of Doom.
I prefer these to be scans of figurines. However, I am sorry to say the reasoning in this video is flawed. "ID said, and also the file names". One the one hand there is the reference material which by mirroring, cutting parts from one figure and connecting to another etc. can line up with the sprites. Meanwhile, there is no example of GI Joe figures looking anything like that - the evidence required. Look at the arms - do they resemble action figures? The conclusion is : ID also wants you to think these are scans of toys. Reduce the connection between the game and real-world violence.
Hi, thank you for the help. I only have one question. The textures are showing up, but they can only be used for walls. How do I make a ceiling or floor texture
When I first visited the new Fandom site on my laptop, it took 10 Minutes to load the page. 10 MINUTES! To load what exactly? 34 words of text, an image, and 14 ads, I repeat, 14 ads of H3NT4I
I have to thank CS188 for the recent MIDI rabbit hole I have been going down into (starting with Passport.MIDI)! These tracks honestly beat anything that gets produced by the modern music industry and it really is a shame that Microsoft haven't made any more since!
Alright, so Manhunt, GTA, Chiller, Mortal Kombat, Splatterhouse, now Doom. compared to generic games like Call of Duty or Fortnite, classic gory games will be my favorite.
Same thing happens with alot of other IPs, like Warhammer, where there's FANDOM and Lexicanum, or Lexi, while Lexi has less information than the FANDOM, it's more reliable and less "edgy", giving straight information on the story, characters and universe, while FANDOM is written in a more entertaining with added up edgy info as if you're reading something straight from the universe itself, this added up lore however, was quite infamous and hated by the community as it mostly was wrong lol.
