There is an impressive number of RU-vidrs and other parties who are tackling this Super Mario 64 sound font and going to town with tons of covers to songs through it. I saw that you were the first to actually create the sound font and I might be wrong, but are there any antecedents to this trend--are you the Bathory (i.e. made Black Metal into a bona fide movement), in other words--or are you the motherfucking Venom (i.e. the first one in this gravy train)?
@@christopherthibeault7502 I'm early, but not the first. Definitely more of a Venom. I found at least two other YT accounts with Mario 64 covers older than mine, and there's possibly more. I think I popularized using the soundfont specifically (rather than the older, harder methods) but I can't claim to be the originator!
Love this! industrial music is one of my favorite genres. You might consider taking Ministry's "Thieves and Liars" and midifying it, the beats and chainsawing goes perfectly with Doom II's first map if you grab the chainsaw and use it throughout the level.
Long ago, when I was a teenager, we were playing Super Mario Kart in a Bowser's Castle stage (perhaps the first). On the radio (107.3 WAAF Boston, back when it was on the air--it's remnants are on 101FM the Pike Worcester-Southbridge), this song was playing. I thought it was the harshest song to go kart-driving, but it somehow fit perfectly. Industrial aged like milk, but at least this song holds up. It's the ideal fight-off-big-boss music for a Mario game.
I love Industrial music, it's one of my favorite genres to this day (though like everything, 80% of it sucks). Fits this soundfont really well though I think, Bowser's drums have that feel almost baked in.
My fave off all time! I saw them in 90 91 at The Ritz in Austin TX. Reznor Chris Brenna and Robert Patrick. This mix is stimulating me play DoooM II DM but no one plays regular free for all just CTF :-). I'm collaborating with Samsara Hakubi for 7 map coop episode hope soon! Would be an honor for you to play through it when released!
It sounds really cool! I have a silly question, do you think that ports like choco/crispy Doom Will keep being supported? I see these ports losing popularity and Im concerned because they're my cutties to play Doom.
Yo Doomkid I meant to ask you on The FreeDoom streams On Kes's channel but everytime you either disappeared out of nowhere or I forgot lol but how do you convert songs into doom midis or any other sound font for that matter? I would love to know since I want to see how some of my favourite songs/albums work as a doom or Mario 64 song. Thanks!
You have to find a MIDI or GuitarPro file of the song, or transcribe it yourself. It often takes hours, but if you learn musical scales, it helps a lot!
This is unrelated, but every time I try getting onto Doomshack, an error message pops up instead. Just thought I'd let you know so you can try to fix the problem.
