Sounds great, good job! Brings back memories. My first experience listening to Pantera was during an Iraq deployment. I lost all my digital media while over there and I got a bunch of random music from friends. I had at least 2 or 3 albums from Pantera.
One of my favorite Pantera albums next to Vulgar Display of Power. Just the first song already sounds a lot like Doom and I could probably make a whole WAD's worth of these MIDI Metal albums you do lol
@@DoomKid did you slightly speed Cowboys from Hell up, or has it just been too long since I last heard it? It seemed a little quicker, not that I'm complaining at all
Re-tuning and remastering of Pantera MIDI files I've found on the net. These should be perfect for DOOM maps. Enjoy! NOTE: I dumbly forgot "Message In Blood" for the video, but you can find it in the downloads below: MIDI - www.mediafire.com/file/srdhh27eopanopy/Pantera_CFH_MIDI.zip/file MP3 - www.mediafire.com/file/g2tof7b0hq69v8v/Pantera_CFH_MP3.zip/file 00:00 Cowboys From Hell 03:57 Primal Concrete Sledge 06:10 Psycho Holiday 11:35 Heresy 16:22 Cemetery Gates 23:29 Domination 28:33 Shattered 31:51 Clash With Reality 37:12 Medicine Man 42:28 The Sleep 48:17 The Art of Shredding
I hear quite often about Pantera's latter discography, but nobody but Razorfist ever mentions the first three albums, which the actual band has the rights to and could print with impunity, that are also awesome. Those are worth turning into MIDI's just as much as the rest, perhaps even more so.
I'd love to see a midi-fication of the Great Southern Trendkill. I do plan on mapping some WADs, so it'd be sick to have some Pangera midi tracks play in my maps or be based on the songs! Anyways, it's sick to see you do some Pantera albums some midi love.
Hey Doomkid, hope you're doing well. I need your advice: I was playing around with midi settings in Choccolate doom, but the music sounds different that I remember it from dos. I saw that you can load custom files for midi sounds, but I don't know what exactly I am looking for. My old computer had integrated soundcard and ran win95+dos, that's all I remmember. I was searching zdoom wiki for some list, but they either don't have or I couldn't find it. Can you help please? Just link would be fine.
It sounds like you may be looking for the OPL2 or OPL3 sound, as opposed to the General MIDI sound. If you look up VirtualMIDISynth, and my pack of 500 soundfonts, you can find what you need!
I use the following programs: Sekaiju for creating MIDIs from scratch or modifying, or TuxGuitar to convert Guitar Pro and Powertabs (the kind at ultimate-guitar) to MIDI files. Then I use VirtualMIDISynth to convert them for the video!
You have to learn some fundamentals of music theory, then transcribe using a program like TuxGuitar or Sekaiju. It's easiest if you learn an instrument to give you a reference point, and to make it easier to identify notes for the sake of transcription. Once you understand scales and time signatures, it becomes possible to transcribe, but it still does take hours. Luckily most of these were 90% done and just needed some improving and fine-tuning!
Hey man, I got an idea for your next Let's Play. So basically there's a WAD called Overboard, it came out 1 or 2 months ago I think and it takes place on a few islands and some hell-infested UAC ships. Your main objective is to find can of fuel for your boat and to flee... or something. Anyway, the monster placement of that one is insanely violent and really fun and the maps are very small and modest, it's a really sweet experience and you should TOTALLY play that WAD.
hey Doomkid i have a question, im using virtualmidisynth in doom and i also use it to convert midis to listen to later, i encountered a bug when i converted auger zeniths music - one of the tracks consisted only of piano for all instruments but when i listen the midi itself in windows media player its fine, why is that?also when playing gzdoom i noticed that some tracks instruments differ in sound ingame vs media player
Does the "all pianos" thing happen after converting it to MP3/WAV only? For example if you open the MIDI in the program Sekaiju, does it play back fine there too? As for the sound difference, GZDoom comes with a soundfont in it's folder called "gzdoom.sf2" that is a slightly altered version of the default Windows soundfont, which you can find online as "RLNDGM.sf2". I personally prefer the default to GZDoom's, but you can convert MIDIs to any soundfont with VMS, including GZDoom's!
@@DoomKid only when converting, its not really working as intended in sekaiju but its not all pianos, so we have 3 different sounding tracks, also im talking about "Twilight of Neo Kobe City" from Snatcher which plays on credits map
Y'know, idk if it's lost or not, but I heard about a Guitar Hero mod for DOOM II? This song was in GH1, that's why I was reminded. Anyone heard of said mod?
fuck yeah who else remember panther sorry autocorrect i mean painter the bank phil and elmo was in before metallica those were the days kids these days have no idea smh that why we need better edutation system
Can any of these be used in a doom wad? For a broader question, can any of the midi videos you've uploaded, can they be also used in people's doom wads? obviously with proper crediting
@@DoomKid Oh alright haha. Since you're here I gotta also ask, do you build the tracks by listening to the originals or do you have the notes written? I'm new to anything music related and have been trying to rebuild some songs in Sekaiju.
From scratch, it could be anywhere upward of 5 hours, unless the song is *very* basic. Thankfully, most of the work was done by others, and I just needed to go in and fix up a few things, rather than doing it all from scratch.
