My biggest problem finding the right sort of leather belt is that as a vegetarian, I don't buy leather, with the exeption of second hand (for instance, I generally shop second hand for things like hiking or western boots where it's really hard to get any kind of decent quality in synthetic). I did try a thrift store, but it's hard to find anything new and stiff there. Any advice for someone who doesn't buy new leather?

re: vintage Brush (c 8:00 min) not sure if still available, but about a decade ago I picked up a couple similar ones retail. not hairbrushes, but instead shoe-shine brushes (with handles). solid wood (pine I think) about 1/4-1/2 inch thick. I believe the brand was Kiwi (at least the polish was)

It wasn’t perfect when I was done adjusting it but it was quite nice for a first attempt with a severe lack of wood working tools at my disposal. Made of cotton wood “which I’m highly allergic to so I was crying and snotting myself the entire time I sanded it over 3 days.” 1 and 1/3 inches thick 4 inches wide, and around 9 inches total in length including the handle. We had a falling out and I really REALLY miss my paddle 😭🤣. So absolutely great advice. Don’t buy it or make it for them do it for yourself. Not every relationship or friendship will last a lifetime after all.

For me a bath/body brush is the perfect - you can do anything you can with a hairbrush with it - and as a wide guy they double up for dealing with an itchy back :-)
