I sent the previous video to my mom and asked her if she wanted a skirt like it and now i'm going to send this one to her and go "do you want pockets???" lol this was so helpful =)
Another miserable 69 year old lady here. I don't larp but have friends that do. I would love to make larp costumes but that isn't why I watch your channel religiously! I watch for two reasons; I just plain enjoy watching, you are real and interesting, and I watch because it helps me learn more about the thoughts of someone with a different lifestyle than mine. I have learned so much from you! I have been sewing for more than 50 years, I doubt you can teach me anything there but really appreciate your honesty and openness about yourself and your experiences. Just wanted you to know that there is at least one person watching every single on of your videos just because if you lived next door we would be great friends.
I think I am going to try a version with a channel for the ties, attached at the centre of the fabric, so i can adjust the fabric and let it out or take it in without any effort.
i am one of the amazing people that enjoy YOU . i am not a stickler for quality. I have watched enough of your content to gauge your broad interests and i know im going to enjoy anything you put out. Even if its a topic i dont care about, I'm sure that you could present it in a way that i like - because i like your content style. And i heavily agree that more people need to get into LARP as its one of the funnest things ive (semi) recently gotten into!
Love the robe! Was the fabric you used a knit? It falls so beautifully. Also just need to say, the close ups of you working are beautiful. You have the most elegant hands. 😍
Thanks for explaining why I wasn’t getting anything done on my Sewing day. 😅 It was a mystery to me how I didn’t get any sewing done. Sometimes I have done some prep work, but not enough.
I remember how popular LARP was in 2007ish - 2019ish. It seems totally dead now. I think Covid can be blamed for a lot of it but I think it just accelerated LARPs inevitable death. Most LARPers I know didn’t stop cause of covid, I stopped years before that. It’s a shame because I do miss them nowadays.
4 years late, but for anyone else doing something similar- it would be great to create a small swatchbook so that you remember what you have and where it is. so just a small bit of the fabric, and then whatever label the box it's in has
Oh and at least your cat has a name that you don’t feel bad calling. My dad name a cat after booze! Standing the back calling for her was crazy!! I was calling for bourbon!
Holy that’s a lot of work! I’m really glad you’re sticking around even when it’s very much work! Your videos are fun. While I am a cranky old woman I try not to be mean in the comments. I enjoy your content and your take on things. It really blows me away that someone would comment on your accent…. Some people have to get lives!! But then I was once asked what my first language was!?! I have weird phrases and phrasing so they assumed then argued! I’m also dyslexic so sometimes things come out backwards or two words get massed together. I’m weird and know it Really you do your thing and I’ll watch. Oh and I appreciate all your hard work!
I always cut the pattern to the largest size, then fold back (if needed) to cut the fabric. That way I have options for when my size changes or I want to use for other people.
The skirt video was how I found you. I still go back to it when sewing sometimes. I did not subscribe immediately, I like to get a feel for a channel first. I am not into LARP, but love creativity and you are clever and creative and have fun with what you do.
I think I first came from Benadette Banner's channel, looking for more crafty-youtuby-things. And the fact that you're not the same is exactly what I enjoyed. I have ADHD, I need the diversity. I loved your voice, I can understand why some people might dislike it, but overall you have a distinct and quite unique voice and my brain loves that (when people try their best to have the most normalized voice and accent, like on our national TV here (France), where they kinda, sort of, just train to all speak "the same way" it just confuses my brain because I can't tell them apart). Also I've done many roleplaying so the larp part is fascinating, and I occasionaly sew so the sewing part is fascinating. And I'm queer and neurodivergent, so everything just managed to fit perfectly for me to enjoy your content. About that, I wont say a word for anything I don't know about, like the technical differences between softwares, but everything you said, as far as I know, I relate, I understand and I agree. About the community management, about what you do and why you do it. About how much time it takes to produce a video especially if you're employed on the side. Anyway. A long comment full of words and I didn't say much at all. Just please continue to exist as you want to, and I'll be happy about it. ♥
Old lady here. Using both inches and centimeters, whichever works best for you at that point is great! My husband has suggested that I start a channel with my cooking. People would hate it. I mix ounces, pounds, grams, liters, pints, tea spoons, etc.... depending on what I am doing and how I am doing it. Also, I did LARP when in much younger (age 16-28). You are doing a great job!
Old enby here and I watch a bunch of the folks you talk about as being really different to you and never thought of them as super different (except for the visibly queerness which I of course love). I've figured out my most important bits to me are if there's a person who wants to chat at me while they make something. I can't LARP (physical body just isn't gonna let me) but I love hearing about it and honestly just enjoy listening to your brain think through stuff aloud to me. Also my autistic brain absolutely goes chronologically through my subscriptions and is deeply confused by folks who don't look at their actual subscription tab.
Thanks for this video. I've dusted off a family spinning wheel and am enjoying relearning skills. My hubby loves sitting near by for moral support and my cursing lol😂
That's very interesting about the viewing preferences because I'm actually the opposite, I don't have recommendations on and mainly view from my subs or related videos if I searched for something specific.
I think you picked a hard machine to learn on. That being said you did amazing. Since you said you bought another machine I think you will move right along and soon have a closet full of sweater vests.
While I confess I don't remember when/why/how I followed you, I really appreciate your sass and practicality. I've got no plans to leave anytime soon either! I'm a nearly 40 queer goth former cosplayer coffee aunt - I'm some sort of cis+, possibly faint aroma of agender and chypre? Who knows. I like dresses, suits, and being sparkly. I don't know how valuable my statistics are as apparently stingy dorks over 35 that have NB partners and no kids or plans to have any aren't a large enough demographic for the advertisers to know what to do with me, lol. I watch all of the costube channels you mentioned and more, but I also watch queer culture, world culture, goth culture, art, SCA/Ren Faire stuff, sustainable practices, environmental research and advocacy, cooking content, travel, what few video game channels haven't gone full slur, game dev, programming, web design, Adam Savage, doll making/doll customization, meta internet analysis, makeup, psychology, science, neurodivergent help guides/research/recommendations, bookbinding, home renovation/decor diy, and history channels that cross over all of those subjects.... I spend a lot of time doing stuff with youtube on in the background- I blame my ADHD 😂 There was an ancient article I was trying to find to share with you- it was about how not all media caters to "you", "you" being any person consuming media. (Something something twilight star wars I don't remember. The author was male and It might have been sometime around 2015). If I can find it, I'll comment on this comment. Media literacy and reading/observational comprehension have always been in the toilet, but I feel like it's all the way down in the sewers these days with shortened attention spans and the global pannini of 2k19 frying brains with oxygen deprivation. I really do think people who cannot understand that should be considering posts. "Oh hey, that's a wooden fence post.... anyway!" There's so, so, so many people on this earth who have zero concept of ego d3ath or self-awareness about other people's life experience being different from their own in a practical way that they get offended by difference, confusion, or unexpected results. I think it really comes down to "AAHH CHANGE SCARY!!!" and people being unable to realize that their monkey brains are not something that ought dictate their conduct online- or even in person! I hope the number of dowager toddlers withers off, they have no right to be telling you how you ought to live.
I'm a neuro-spicy, trans-masc sewist. You're a neuro-spicy, trans-masc sewist. I don't know if we'd vibe in real life, but at least parasocially, I think you're kickass
