My nerdy heart loves that you used Excel to pattern it out, and then sooo much hand work to actually make the finished product, interpreting it in a way that blows my mind. I'm in awe at how well this turned out and fully impressed by the time and effort it took to get there. And that's before we even get to your awesome costume for this vid. 10/10, fully sick, love it 😍
So cool! The set up to weaving ratio looks even more intense than sewing. I'm also impressed that nothing ended up in a giant tangled snarl because I'm pretty sure that's what would happen if I tried!
I know slightly more about weaving than I do about Diablo, but I don't need to know anything to know this is STUNNING. Silk is such a gorgeous medium for this project! Nothing really says "sinister but elegant and cunning" like that dull luster.
Fab video. I raise my mug of tea to you (too early for horn of mead) for tackling that project on a heddle. I would of got lost after 3 rows. The weave looks amazing. A few of my loudest adhd thoughts: that process was INTENSE! Still want to learn to weave someday though, not gonna lie. The furry void does NOT want to share that couch and is not as impressed with your costume as I am! We gonna get a later vid on that costume, too, by chance?
I love everything about this video, and the project (including a loom that's been holding a half-way-done project for mumble years). Also: black cat. Because cat and black, and what's more culturally hell-related in Western folklore than a black cat? (love the costume, but that mask? extra)
The end result looks amazing - did you ever consider using string heddles and pickup or multiple sets of string heddles for the pattern sheds? Or weaving it as a brocade? Anyway, making the rigid heddle curved was pure genius in fitting the whole thing in!
❤WOW. That was very interesting to watch, and in a way relieves me of feeling I “should” do weaving soon. I think for now I will purchase trims, and stick with lucets and braids. This was a treat on an otherwise rather disappointingly gray day.
