Hi, I'm Kate, (aka the Disney Cicerone), your guide to obscure Disney history with a dash of encouragement!
Here's what you'll find at Disney Cicerone:
- Deep-dive Disney history you've probably never heard of before - Comparisons of Disneyland vs Disney World (I'm a passholder at both!) - Disney parks-inspired words meant to encourage, inspire, & motivate
Cicerone literally means "a guide who gives information about antiquities and places of interest to sightseers" and that's all I'm here to do, to be your personal tour guide through the most obscure Disney history!
If you're someone who LOVES Disney and has heard all the usual facts and secrets already and is ready for more - OR - If you're someone who just wants to learn a few unique things to appreciate the Disney parks you know & love even more, let's explore Disney history together!
Skull Rock Cove was one of my favorite places to hang out every time I went to the park. I used to get triple-layer chocolate cake and eat in the cove. It had a water feature behind the lave rock seating area...I am still heartbroken that this area is gone...
That sounds lovely! I have seen a lot of pictures but sadly I never saw it in person. My first trip to the park was 1986 when “new fantasyland” was still new 😂
I really love an overhead track for some reason. Six Flags Magic Mountain has a good coaster with a track like that. Love how the cars swing a bit around corners.
This sounds very similar to when “Get A Horse” was being made. The people making the short combed through archival recordings of Walt Disney as the original voice of Mickey Mouse, and they had to stitch several recordings to make Mickey in the short say, “Red” when he lands outside the screen and realizes he’s in color.
This is for all of you who have so kindly expressed desire to spend a day with me at Disney 🥰 While anyone who is with hanging with me certainly hears an awful lot of history 😂most of the time I’m just quietly filming/writing by myself as I stand in line/reading like the Distory nerd I am. 📖 People often ask me how I get access to empty Disney parks, and the answer is I don’t, I just have a lot of patience 😂 If you wait long enough, I’ve found people will usually move on, or there will be a window where you can get a clip without anybody in it. As for days when I’m not at Disney, usually I am either writing my next books (two are currently in the works) or else I am editing content in my pajamas while being a mom to three kids 😂 I typically get to Disneyland or Disney World once a month, alternating between them and making the most of my annual passes. I am beyond grateful that I get to spend my days immersed in Disney history. It is a dream come true to get to use my words and these Disney stories to encourage you all and help give a voice to why we love Disney so very much 🥺 Thank you for all of the love and support that you all have shown me over the past four years on my journey as a creator and author, I couldn’t do any of it without all of you 🥹💜
I don’t wear costumes to the park, I wear vintage clothing plus Mickey ears. Costumes aren’t allowed for those over 14, and even if they were I prefer to dress dapperly 👗
Another topic Tianas Bayou Adventure is more rasist then Splash Mountain. Tianas Bayou Adventure takes place in the Louisiana Avery Island Salt Dome. This place is where slavery took place and many slavery people died in that salt dome. The queue of Tianas in the station is a Salt Dome instead of the mountain. Thats why you go up into the Bayou
Something that felt dangerous was the generator at the Indiana Jones ride. The reason it felt dangerous was because this little dinky generator was powering a whole temple and the generator wheel is going over 50 mph. but then this effect was turned off not too long ago.
We need to stop defending the Walt Disney company because they could have built a whole New Orleans land and kept splash mountain. It sad what the Walt Disney company has lost of thier talent which is part of the value of company which lead to so many failures. Disney needs to get tiger together because destroying attractions in a place the size of Manhattan is just pure stupid. Universal would never do that.
That poor couple had NO idea that wasn’t supposed to happen 😂 Peter Pan’s Flight was originally going to be called Peter Pan Fly Thru and it did look a little bit different in 1955. They didn’t add the part with the pirate ship until the 1983 remodel, where they borrowed the scene from the Walt Disney World version of the attraction. Before this ride was finalized, they had a lot of interesting ideas for what might happen in it. If you look at the Disneyland prospectus that they gave to sponsors to try to convince them to invest in Disneyland, you’ll find a few things that we don’t have in the attraction today. One said that the Jolly Roger would target you with ping-pong balls, and another had Captain Hook trying to stab you with his sword. One feature I wish we did have now is Big Ben chiming as you fly around it. I don’t believe that concept ever actually made it into the attraction. Perhaps my favorite part of the story is how this couple embraced the adventure, even when it might’ve been a little too exciting 😂 Sometimes life might give you some unexpected falls, but the attitude you have about it will determine your way forward 💜
@@yellowballoon4143 I have one to recommend. The official Disneyland book, 'Walt Disney's Disneyland'. Even comes with an early draft map of the park you can hang on your wall.
Nowadays people would be quick to get an attorney and get litigation going. This is a fun story on one of the oldest rides still in existence at Disneyland. As always great presentation and video.
For 2 years I worked at the wildlife rescue where most Disneyland baby ducks were sent to in order to not get trampled by visitors! It’s a good thing they look out for them and we always released them to beautiful lakes and natural areas when they were ready to go:)
