i got to say the best design for the most uses and best price... Cold steel GI Tanto.. it's perfect and inexpensive. almost better off just buying like 20 of those
I have searched your channel, looking for one the knives displayed on screen. The 3rd knife from the right, between the od green bayonet and ka-bar in the coyote brown sheath. What knife is this, or at least who is the manufacturer???
I spent 12 years in the U.S. Army from 1976 to 1988. I was still using a mixture of M1956, M1967 along with a WWII dated Bar belt up until 1985 or so. For some odd reason our pogues all had 30 round magazines while the s outs were lucky to get one, while our additional magazines were all 20s. I sharpened my bayonet and they did an LOD on me so I had to pay for a replacement which was I sharpened. As a Marine friend once told me, gear adrift is a gift and we all had the large and medium issue Alice packs. Depending on what the mission was, then we bulked up to the large Alice and additional magazine pouches. Funny story my mother was in the Navy during the Korean War and the only package I ever received was in basic and inside was an old Navy Fighting Knife MkII, which earned me a lot of comments for carrying a KA-BAR.
My country army still using our version of knock off ALICE both L and M sizes, the quality is quite poor but for the L size is not bad except it quite badly copy real Alice because those webbings are not quite in the right position, the frame is very good, nothing to complain about it but the worst part of it imo is the straps, they sewed the upper part of straps permanently to the bag itself and not even in the best place for straps to be there which cause the upper part of the frame to press against your back if you heavy load it and straps can’t be taken out but because of this, you can use the back without the frame. It is good for the price, good material, durable and all but for me it’s just “almost good” with it’s not exact copy design like manufacturers don’t know what’s the meaning of this design and decided to to make it simpler but has too many flaws😂. But for the US ones, they’re one of the best design if not “the best”in the world, everybody in the armed forces surely prefer US made of every gear they use😂
I started on a 1 by 30 and then I tricked it out quite a bit contact wheel as My drive wheel with variable speed Sewing machine motor i could leave a link hopefully if anybody interested
It would have taken a lot longer if you didn't have that long of a sanding block. Do you have a large contact wheel? I seen a awesome DIY surface grinder attachment vertical, i hope I can find the link
very nice! you have come a long way since the first "send me your scrap steel I will send you a knife vid!" I guess I have what you may now call the "American Bowie", not sure if you had it named back then or not, but still loving it!
Nice. My Grandad was a General/Gunner in the Aus Army "Pacifiic Kokoda campain. I gratefully have his Bolo machete, unusually these were only given to medics and Gunners. His though is British. He must have swapped it or unfortunately taken it from a fallen friend. Still an amazing tool. Great piece of history
I was in the marines from 2009-2013 and that whole enlistment the only knife I had on my kit and used and still use to this day is my Gerber LMFll in coyote brown (same 1 on your table) and I completely love that knife and still have it on my civilian kit today in 2024
Just picked up the exact same bag for 80$ on marketplace. Only one seam that i found that needs to be stitched in the suspension. Doesnt affect the function at all tho or its not in a place to where it would get worse. Been wanting one for a long time but i see them for over 200 to 250 on ebay right now.
Unfortunately, machetes are mainly useful in the bush, where they cut large green plants. In European or American temperate forests, plant stems are woody and an ax is more useful. It's a pity that the large Golok Condor does not have a convex cut, because it would probably work better. I live in Poland and I can't decide which of the Condor Goloks would be better for me - large or small? I use a small Gedore ax every day, but the ax doesn't cut well and the machete is still useful, even as a very large knife. As a knife, I use a Finnish army knife, Sissipuukko M95, designed by Mr. Peltonen.
My father was 17 when he made the Inchon Landing with the 5th Marines under Ray Murray! He fought at Inchon and Suoel(?) ,the retreat. His knife was a Ka Bar. It was the only knife that he had all his life, never got rid of it.
The crook neck flashlight is still petty standard. They do still come with the white and diffuser lenses. I have sand colored one I bought in 2009 that has an additional green lens. I always carried at least one pair of extra socks wrapped in plastic in my buttpack, along with foot powder.
Great collection! I got the SOG dbl. bit hatchet. I broke the handle, after years of throwing. I have custom made couple of wood handles, that I have broke again. Lol. I love my CRKT tomahawk so much,I bought two. Done gave my second one away to a good friend.he just displays it with all his Native American artifacts.
I watched your 1st video, I was looking forward to this one but stopped watching as soon as you said the testing would be with your own grind. I want to see what the factory grind is like and the review of the factory version that I might want to buy. Sure your grind would be interesting to see the before and after.
Does your Kydex contain glass fiber? I’ve had problems with glass fiber in plastic sheath dulling the edge of the blade when the knife goes in and out of the sheath. Cold Steel started using fiber reinforced plastic for their sheaths in the last few years. Glock and Mora do not have glass fiber in their sheaths. It is a pain to have to resharpen an edge each time you pull the knife from the sheath (and dangerous for a knife carried for self defense) so I have stopped buying fixed blade knives in Kydex sheaths.
