Bro some machetes are designed to be thick. In some countries those are used to crack coconuts open where a thin machete would just bend.

You're right, quality control in Condor is appalling sometimes. Paying that much, we should get a better product.

Quit honestly I've never had a us for these since I was kid doing yard work . at 81 now I have my grand dads machete and one marbles 14 dollar one . I did years ago buy an ontario SP- 53 bolo which turned out to be a beast. I had no need for this SP-53 Bolo no what so ever but it turned out to be a keeper . As to your your fat handle I have a Bench maid plainsman the only so called supper steel . I had to rehandle it you could of used the handle for a Litter opener it was so damn thin taking of as you know is much easer than adding to the handle.happyTrails

What did you use to grind it down on the handle? I got a used one and need to do the same thing. It's ungrippable

I have had one for a while, and it is…ok. I find that it is too heavy to use as a machete. And doesn’t chop as well as a hatchet. I bought it hoping it would be a Jack of all trades, but it just doesn’t perform any of the tasks well enough for me to regularly use it; I always reach for a better suited tool.

I think u picked the wrong one for the job. Some are designed to be heavy, especially top heavy for wood chopping, where weight will do all the work, while light ones are to just chop light vegetation. My issue with all of them are the handle designs.

Machete has to be used at an angle not straight
