Is it advantageous to finish the underpainting all at once or can you achieve the same spontaneity in multiple sessions once previous layers have dried?
I’m curious what you do when painting alla prima but don’t get to scrub everything in on the first sitting? Do you just pick up where you left off the next day? Is it advantageous to finish the underpainting all at once or can you achieve the same spontaneity in multiple sessions once previous layers have dried?
Good to see the two different versions of the same scene. Nice. Thanks The last minute of the video I noticed tour t- shirts. Ryan wore a dark blue shirt and painted darker blue water. While the other guy ( sorry didn’t get your name) wore a light blue t- shirt and painted light blue water. Hummmm…Does that have some meaning or something? 😧😬😮
Thank you for the wonderful lesson. I am inspired. I haven't tried painting outside yet but you've encouraged me. I am impressed with you and your talent. Best of best with your show!
Thanks so much for Sharing your journey of painting Pleinair gives my support and inspiration and courage to go out do pain whatever inspired me here in Dublin ☘️☘️🙏🙏🌹🌹
One of my favorite Utrecht colors to lighten is Naples Yellow light, instead of white. I only use white + UMB in the sky. Just a suggestion, great videos.
Your color harmony is beautiful michael .well done! …the composition is excellent and yes, there is something to be said about painting a scene again and again! I’m finally starting to learn that lesson. Thanks for all your quality advice and talents… good luck with your gallery show.💕🌞🌻
Great tip on the ‘beading’ issue. I’ve had that issue quite a bit because I paint in layers and the process of trying to figure out exactly which medium caused it would be incredibly time consuming, at best. I would have to isolate each product and experiment, yet still in the end not have an accurate result or answer. Very helpful information on the varnishing process, 🙏
Awesome painting! It's cool to see you do the same location again and how you handled it. I need to get out to the bay and do some street scenes and try something new. Looks fun :) Good luck with the show by the way!
I like how your videos are always inviting, humble, and definitely instructive. Watching them is almost like visiting with a fellow artist friend (not that I have one). Good job. Thanks. - Mike, 73, in Sacramento.
I don't know much about paintings but that painting looks similar to the one in a video from weeks ago but I think it is portrayed differently due to the position of the sun and the nuances of colors in addition to the angle of the portrait but anyway it looks like a new perspective and looks good 🖼️🙌
Strokes of intention...don't recall you ever mentioning that phrase before, but very powerful, nonetheless. I will definitely remember that! Good luck with the show Michael--you certainly have pulled together an outstanding representation of your work that any collector would be proud to have.
