This turned out beautifully....the lush paint strokes and responsiveness to the scene are really lovely, I wish I had the courage of marks you put down...very inspiring 🎨👏👏👏
Enjoyed seeing how you simplify lots of buildings into one shape and sticking to the light and dark pattern to drive the painting process. I struggle with complicated scenes and can't wait to apply this approach!
Good morning Michael. I really appreciate seeing how you break down cityscapes into simple shapes. Also, “I want it to look like a painting” 😆 Agreed ❤
I see you moved across the street after your initial setup. You sure turned this view into a gem of a painting. Good lesson in simplifying shapes. Thanks for sharing!
this painting evokes a pattern in how i respond: to the subject least, the layout next, but it's really the light that grabs me and makes me feel like i'm there
I think the car in the foreground works because its in shadow and doesn't draw attention like if it was in light. It's a weird one because its on the right hand side of the road but on the left hand side of the painting. Great work man
I like ur adding of the car in the foreground. It makes the painting take on an almost photographic feel. Degas did that a lot in his paintings. He would crop subjects, such as horses or carriages. Nice job for 2 hours!
The manner of simplifying, courage and boldness of hanling in your all work inspires me. i thank the god or the nature for created artists like you, and showed to artists like us. long live.
This one is very sophisticated. It bothers me a little that the cars get smaller but the trees get bigger up the hill. Did you consider using artistic license on those?
Thanks! The area I painted is mostly residential. It was the middle of the day so it was pretty quiet. If you visit the streets with shops there are a lot of people walking.
I really like the car in the foreground, it being all in shadow makes the composition dramatic and it feels like SF. Thanks for the combo of colors to make streets and roads, you’re right it is a delicate mixture or it turns green, you made a nice warm grey. I really enjoy watching you paint and what you do to share is a huge effort so thanks you‼️👊🏻🎨
I am so happy you are doing a cityscape! I have a solution for your filming problem - I’ll bet the volunteers would line up to be your assistant for a day! I do this with a local artist where I live… I get a free lesson every time I assist this way! So worth it!
I am not a city person, but I appreciate this video so much because I have trouble seeing clear shapes. I feel like man- made items that have defined shapes make it easier for me to get a grip. I am starting to enjoy attempting buildings, never tried a car. The Carmel Mission is one I tried. Thanks for sharing your work process. It's a gift every Sunday I look forward to.
