In a world where there is no one good, no not one, apparently Mr Lydon is the only exception. I don't take any notice of anyone who constantly feels the need to proclaim his own honesty.
When I was little and PIL was all over MTV, his interviews actually scared me. That fear evolved into fascination and amusement, and now complete respect.
We used the swastika in the 60's as an act of defiance and two fingers up to the Nazis who controlled Britain, and still do to this day. Teachers in high school took particular offence as they were shallow conformists, the worst form of Nazi.
Even if you don't agree and are upset by Johnny's opinions or actions, you have to admit he is ALWAYS honest about how he feels and there's something incredibly admirable about that in a world full of fakes. The fact they are shaping his history without his input is a disgrace.
Steve Jones wants to do a docudrama based on his view of 1975-1981. If he doesn't want John involved, that is his decision. After 1981,all 4 remaining Sex Pistols left Punk Rock & became mainstream rock musicians. The Damned & Ramones were the only 70's punkers who stayed with punk 80's-90's.
John, we all know how special she was to you. I hope it was as peaceful as possible, and that this time of grief, goes as well for you, as it can. You took care of her as long as you could, and she was as lucky to have you, as you were her. Be proud of yourself about that.
They were all Johnny Rotten to the core until my friend John departed the band. Now they've lost their cherished and well celebrated rottenness and appear to have taken on fibbing and commercially encouraged contract and artistic rights backstabbing. Where's the British entertainment world going these days?
I wish John L had met John L, I'm sure they'd have got on well. Similarly honest and controversial thinkers, unphased by confrontation. Both funny. When you think about it, punk was more about attitude, energy, an amateurish, immediate DIY approach to getting up on stage and letting off steam. Not much to do with talent. That's an apt definition of skiffle really, which was punk two decades early. and that's where Lennon came in. I always wanted The Pistols to cover "Everybody's Got Something To Hide Except Me And My Monkey". That's a brilliant slab of proto-punk, that is. Lydon sings Lennon!
I really dig John. I believe him 100% because he’s honest and transparent to a fault. He’s true to himself and I don’t see him having a reason to lie. He never sells out for money. This man is not a liar, that’s for damn sure! And honestly that pistol television series is trash. I would love to see i docudrama on John’s life.
He alone appears responsible for this mess where he signed off his exclusive rights to his work allowing instead control to be decided on the basis of a majority of votes by the other band members. What a ridiculously stupid thing to do
Well said John you have always spoke 100% the truth , you were one of the first to tell the BBC about Saville only to get banned from the BBC. Nothing but corrupt wankers all these corporations .
John can be a right dick, but he can also be a sincere and well spoken individual, and in this case, he seems completely justified. How in the Hell do you go to Steve Jones and co and not involve Lydon? Sorry boys, but only one of the 4 (well, 2 of the four after Sid joined) of you were icons, and it ain't you guys.
Joe and I did get engaged after many years of to-ing and fro-ing and I have seen a dopple ganger or a ghost. It makes me full on cynical about the media.
