The Center for Khmer Studies' (CKS) mission is to support research, teaching and public service in the social sciences, arts and humanities as they relate to Cambodia. We aim to connect Cambodian scholars, students, professional workers and artists with their international colleagues for the purpose of fostering understanding of Cambodia and Southeast Asia.
Specific objectives of the CKS are to:
Facilitate research and international scholarly exchange through programs that increase understanding of Cambodia and its region; Help strengthen Cambodia's cultural and academic structures and integrate Cambodian scholars into their regional and international community; Promote a vigorous Cambodian civil society.

Not only did Marx not say that Asian pre-modern societies developed feudalism, Marx had a specific view of the "Asiatic mode" that mirrored if not outmoded & had carried over these aspects of "primitive Communism" into the last few centuries. Marx explicitly distinguishes the "Asiatic mode" which did exist in Cambodia from Western European feudalism Locard also leaves out the step between "primitive communism" and feudalism known as slavery
Excellent presentation. The 10 years following Paris Agreement is an understudied period of Cambodia, but is rich with social and political lessons: how military fighters and leaders reintegrate back into society, the consequences of that integration on non-military people when the local government is weak, etc... Discovering these political issues through the research of land distribution was fascinating. I wonder what lessons Western governments can learn from this research particularly as "Western" wars end in counties where the government that's left behind isn't strong.

Thanks for a really interesting presentation. It is great to see that through participation in the CKS program you were able to get back in touch with your cultural roots. It must be hard for Khmer people, as with many refugee diasporas, to be scattered and cut off from their homeland and heritage. Your projects sound very interesting, especially Grace's animation project 'Ghosts and Dragons' sounds very cool. I wish you both good luck and I hope you get the opportunity to return to Cambodia and learn more about your cultural heritage soon.
When will China and US apologies to the Cambodian people for the pain and suffering that they help committed? It’s been 48 years and no acknowledge for their actions. China gave weapons to the Khmer Rouge and invaded Vietnam when Vietnam invaded Cambodia in 1979. US secretly bombed Cambodia which caused the rise of the Khmer Rouge
❤❤❤ wow cambodia khmer is amazing people are friendly and they have amazing kindness and country , big tree , fresh air . Stay this way ! Do not change for wealth or other influences
I'm happy to hear the Khmer music. This is the real Khmer identity that I admire. You don't have to imitate the Thai musical instrument because you have your own musical instrument that is beautiful. Keep up your good work, and present this to the world.
I mean you can’t say Cambodia is copying Thai musical instrument when it is our in the first place. I do really hope Thai people actually do research before they become keyboard warrior online. It is a shame that thai people always do this when their professors and experts repeatedly confirmed thai culture influenced so much from the Khmer culture, and without the Khmer culture there will be no Thai culture. Please actually do proper research and not just based your claimed nonsense mouth to mouth brainwashed tales which really make me question Thailand’s educational system and the thai people themselves at this point. But I do still hope that Cambodian and thai can still be friend and live in peace side by side.
