Résumé :
Ce deuxième épisode comparera les expériences de deux anciens participants au CKS Junior Resident Fellows Program (JRFP), Milan Garcia et Camille Desruelle. Ils ont tous les deux rejoint le programme au cours de différentes années, Milan participant en 2022 et Camille en 2023. Ils discuteront des similitudes et des différences entre leurs expériences respectives, en soulignant tout changement dans la structure du programme, les objectifs et les intervenants. La présentation abordera également le processus de candidature, les critères d’éligibilité, les documents requis et les défis rencontrés au cours du programme. Les intervenants partageront leurs moments préférés, les bénéfices de la recherche et des conseils pour les futurs candidats. Cette présentation vise à donner un aperçu de l’évolution du JRFP et de son impact sur la croissance académique et personnelle des participants.
Bio:
Milan Garcia est un étudiant en master d’archéologie et patrimoine asiatique à University College London. Depuis longtemps, il est profondément intéressé par l’histoire et la culture du Cambodge, en particulier à propos des monuments Khmers des périodes angkoriennes et préangkoriennes. Il a participé au JRFP du CKS en 2022, alors qu’il était en licence à l’École du Louvre à Paris. Durant le programme, il a travaillé sur un projet de recherche concernant l’impact de la colonisation française sur la recherche archéologique au Cambodge.
Camille Desruelle est étudiante en troisième année de licence d’histoire de l’art et d’archéologie à l’École du Louvre et suit également un parcours de langue et civilisation Lao à l’Inalco. Son intérêt pour l’Asie du Sud-Est et le Cambodge s’est révélé à l’occasion de cours dispensés par M. Pierre Baptiste durant ces deux premières années d’études. C’est durant l’été 2023 qu’elle a participé au JRFP organisé par le CKS, programme au cours duquel elle a étudié le bouddhisme tantrique au Cambodge pendant la période angkorienne, ses origines et son impact sur l’art et les monuments khmers.
Abstract:
This second episode will compare the experiences of two former participants in the CKS Junior Resident Fellows Program (JRFP), Milan Garcia and Camille Desruelle, who participated in the program in 2022 and in 2023 respectively. They will discuss the similarities and differences between their respective cohorts, highlighting changes in program structure, objectives, and speakers. This presentation aims to provide insights into the evolution of the JRFP and its impact on participants’ academic and personal growth. The presentation will also touch upon the application process, eligibility criteria, required documents, and challenges faced during the program. The speakers will share their favorite moments, the benefits of the research, and advice for future applicants.
Bio:
Milan Garcia is a postgraduate student at University College London studying Asian Archaeology and Heritage. For a long time, he has been deeply interested in Cambodia’s culture and history, especially concerning the Khmer monuments of the pre-Angkorian and Angkorian eras. He joined the CKS JRFP in 2022 while he was an undergraduate student at the École du Louvre in Paris. During the program, he conducted a research project about the impact of French colonialism on archaeological research in Cambodia.
Camille Desruelle is an undergraduate student in her final year at the École du Louvre, where she studies art history and archaeology. She is also studying Lao language and civilisation at the Inalco. Her interest in Southeast Asia and Cambodia was sparked by lectures given by Pierre Baptiste during her first two years of study. During the summer of 2023, she took part in the JRFP organized by CKS, during which she studied Tantric Buddhism in Cambodia during the Angkorian period, its origins and its impact on Khmer art and monuments.
