I don't see why one should be concerned with the carbon used being to make an EV, I would assume that people buy them used, and buying selling used products; is the reuse part of (reduce reuse recycle). I mean if the concern is about manufacturing pollution, then using a small old gas-powered car is the most environmentally friendly option. I wonder how many miles an ebike needs to be driven warrant its manufacturing pollution? I am glad you enjoyed the biking though :)
How’s the build quality been long-term? I got an Electra e-bike and I love it, but it doesn’t have nearly the capacity that some beefier bikes do and I’ve hit the max weight getting groceries already. Got a bit squirrelly. Was thinking about grabbing an Orox once I had the cash to do so.
@@toastybuns5281 it’s built like a tank. The only real problem I’ve had was letting the rear tyre go a bit soft and the hitting a pothole when loaded 👉 bent derailleur. Wouldn’t happen on an Orox…
Very apt & interesting video Gareth ! Apt because I brought a frame set to build one up but it w they all as only when it was delivered I realised it has a full carbon fork. I have a few bikes but whether they are steel , aluminium , CF have non CF stems so as I am building it myself with limited skills I returned it. I just don't like the fact that CF steering tube is so malleable. Its a shame because the bike always gets good reviews as yours does. I will look for an alternative but I will stick with 1x as I have been using my grandsons hybrid with it fitted and I just love the convenience. If I should struggle at any time being I am old I will just get off and walk. Glad your happy with it and you now have a new Sub.
This is really interesting, something I've tried to dip my toe into but got utterly confused about. My biggest gripe always falls with farmers and their bully tactics where they take land over time and claim it as their own, or like you say they put no cycling signs on a path that so obviously is allowable for cyclists. Then there's public access land....dont get me started!
Hi Gareth just subbed your channel and running through your vids ...resident of Carlisle but came from weardale ..co durham.. cracking vids ironically I dropped into blanchland yesterday with my eldest daughter on our way home ...who liked the place...atb..👍
The Cheviots are amazing, I lived in Newcastle for 6 years. Getting out to Northumberland was amazing. I thought there was something more special about the Cheviots above the Lake District. There was a real sense of isolation.
Love it. A few places i didnt recognise. Good going. There is a really long piece of art along askew road, but ladt time i was passed it was well overgrown.
Thanks Gareth, liked this one very much. Would like to do the C to C sometime myself, with some better weather and warmer temperatures. Looking out for the next one.👌👍💪🏻
Great for sharing, near the spoon is the shroud and not too far from there is the killingworth hippos, though they are not perhaps on a true cycle route
The shroud officially is known as Capella, and you were about 5 mins away from Eat For England. It's recently all been resurfaced around there too so it's a lot easier to get to now. Great idea linking these all up, a ride I'll definitely do in the future, inspired again by your rides, thanks!
Fantastic video thanks for sharing. Some very familiar locations/pieces of art and some new ones too. Coming home on the train used to be indicated by the illuminated blue star at Newcastle breweries!
Looking at your other comments about the accompanying music, i would just like to add that it's a deal breaker for me. Also 6 advert rolls in a 25 min video is excessive. Please listen to your feedback as you have excellent content and personality to grow your channel.
Very good as usual! Do you have a GPX you can make available? Also what camera do you have - you mentioned a Go Pro but you seem to have different mounts, including a handlebar and chest mount is that right?
It’s all filmed on one Go Pro - I have handlebar, chest mounts and mini tripod. The GPX route taken on Strava isn’t always what I’d planned - had to cut a chunk out of Day 2 because the going was sooo slow!
Hey Gareth, I'm keen to get an idea of the tools/resources you use to plot these routes - they look like something I would not feel confident riding down 👍🏻
I use a mixture of OS maps, Komoot, Strava, Garmin Connect and published routes - the main loop in this one was taken from Ted Liddle’s excellent book www.amazon.co.uk/Cycle-Rides-Northumberland-Beyond-2/dp/1916237657/
Another great video - really enjoy seeing the countryside in Northumberland. As a local to Wallsend i know a bit if that route, but i wouldn't date go iff road like you do 😂 Loving the videos 💪🏻
1st video I've watched of you on your travels. I have walked the Cheviots for over 20 years and know how hard it is on wet days - pretty miserable. I think you're nuts to do it on a bike 😂 but shall be subscribing and watching more of your videos 👍🏻
It's good to see you back Gareth. The Cheviot Hills is where I started my backpacking 'career' as a teenage hillwalker, and so they have a special place in my heart. I still regularly walk and cycle up there, I enjoy the peace and quiet that can be found there. Great video and I always appreciate the accompanying history lesson 😀👍
Very first time i have seen regular bike size comparison. Which is important for someone new to long tail cargo bikes. Are 20" wheels good enough for 20km long rides?
Another fantastic adventure, thanks for sharing. Looks like you have an Alpkit Gravitas jacket. Are you finding it's barely waterproof? Mine is horrendous.
Really enjoyed that Gareth, great slow TV and I'm pleased you enjoyed your 'summer' adventure! My tip for you - get a gravity water filter like the AlpKit one; I had a small pump at first and it killed my wrist and a few litres.
Brilliant video, thanks for sharing. I hate having to pass cattle, got chased once many years ago and haven't trusted them since, even though they're usually docile and timid. Subbed 👍
