Did anyone ever see Alexandra Silber's portrayal on Law & Order: SVU, where she played the mom of a boy who was murdered by two High School girls, one of the was played by Lili Reinhart.
Since I reached the charming age of puberty And began to think of feminine curls Like a show that's typically Shuberty I have always had a multitude of girls But now that a married man at last am I How aware of my dear departed past am I (Chorus 1) Where is the life that late I led? Where is it now? Totally dead! Where is the fun I used to find? Where has it gone? Gone with the wind! A married life may all be well But raising an heir Could never compare With raising a bit of hell So I repeat what first I said Where is the life that late I... Giggs 'Spiderman' Official Lyrics & Meaning | Genius Verified (Bridge 1) In dear Milano, where are you Momo? Still selling those pictures Of the Scriptures In the Duomo? And Carolina, where are you, 'lina? Still peddling your pizza In the streets-a Taormina? And in Firenze, where are you Alice? Still there in your pretty Itty-bitty pity Palace? And sweet Lucretia, so young and gay What scandalous doings In the ruins Of Pompeii (Chorus 2) Where is the life that late I led? Where is it now? Totally dead! Where is the fun I used to find? Where has it gone? Gone with the wind! The marriage game is quite all right Yes during the day It's easy to play But oh what a bore at night So I repeat what first I said Where is the life that late I... (Bridge 2) Where is Rebecca? My Becky-wecky-oh Could still she be cruising That amusing Ponte Vecchio? Where is Fedora, the wild virago? It's lucky I missed her Gangster sister From Chicago Where is Venetia, who loved to chat so? Could still she be drinking In her stinking Pink palazzo? And lovely Lisa, where are you Lisa? You gave a new meaning To the Leaning Tower of Pisa (Chorus 3) Where is the life that late I led? Where is it now? Totally dead! Where is the fun I used to find? Where has it gone? Gone with the wind! I've oft been told of nuptial bliss But what do you do At quarter to two With only a shrew to kiss? So I repeat what first I said Where is the life that late I led
I was fortunate to see Tony Yazbeck play Gabey in the wonderful Broadway revival of On the Town in 2014. Singing, acting and dancing -- the Act II pas de deux with Megan Fairchild from NY City Ballet was spine-tingling -- of the highest order!
The role was composed for Alfred Drake a baritone like Ben Davis and Lili for a soprano like was Patrícia Morison In later years talented artists played the roles. Among the men I prefer Davis and Bryan Stokes Mitchell and among the women the late Marin Mazzie Rachel York and Kelli O Hara. But my favourites are still Alfred Drake and Patrícia Morison Just watch the 1958 TV performance although I also loved Howard Keel a performance on the 1953 movie .Later Morison and Keel played together in a sixties London performance and I would have prefered, Morison instead of Grayson in the 1953 movie.
Delightful comic pairing performance in this clever Cole Porter show song. I have fond memories of the film version (Keenan Whynn and James Whitmore) but this version is even better.
here’s a better idea, don’t hate anybody. it just shows your awful character and how you project your own hatred of yourself onto a certain group of people. i’ve never seen a single “i hate women” comment
No one says "i hate women" but everyone says "i hate men" its so dumb like bro get a hobby other than hating on men like some people just need to get back in reality
Strange dear, but true dear, When I'm close to you, dear, The stars fill the sky, So in love with you am I. Even without you, My arms fold about you, You know darling why, So in love with you am I. In love with the night mysterious, The night when you first were there, In love with my joy delirious, When I knew that you could care So taunt me, and hurt me, Deceive me, desert me, I'm yours, till I die... So in love... So in love... So in love with you, my love... am I...
Aaaaa! Naoooooooooooo! Aaa!
What's brilliant about this is how it suits these characters. These are two working class men singing about using flowery language to get laid. It's perfect.
I love puns and I love Porter's tunes, but the sheer weight of toxic misogyny in this show is SO hard to get around. Even the verse "If her virtue, at first, she defends - well, Just remind her that “All’s Well That Ends Well.” And if still she won’t give you a bonus You know what Venus got from Adonis!" - Venus r*ped Adonis. He said he wasn't interested and she stalked and assaulted him. It's not funny, it's a threat.
My high school did the musical"Kiss me Kate" my senior year. I played the part of "Gangster No. 2" along with a sophomore named Pat M. Who played the part of "Gangster No. 1" Doing this song was a lot of fun and it alway got a great response from the audience.
