The US cover art for Warbreaker pictures Siri, and although she has a little bit of tan, she looks pretty white to me. Vivenna is shown in other artwork though in the Warbreaker leatherbound, and she looks white there too. I think that makes most sense for them given that they are from a puritanical culture in the mountains. And the people of Hallandren historically colonized the Pahn Kahl, so the royal family being white kinda makes sense in that way too lol
Herman hesse, Dostoevsky, camus, Balzac, Thomas mann.... I can keep going, maybe change for "name a better writer for morden fantasy than Abercrombie" ;)
I can live with trading in my old dragon for a new goat-bat. Does it come with cup holders though? Also, is the video title supposed to be “diet” or is it “duet”? Though Diet of Pernicious Eels sounds good too. 😂
Oh man I love grimdark like you too (I'm primarily a horror reader so it's basically horror fantasy to me hahaha.) Definitely want to get to this series. Currently reading through The Black Company which many consider to be the start of grimdark. Other seriess I've heard are great include Faithen and Fallen, Bloodsworn Saga, Prince of Thorns, and The Second Apocalypse. Have you read any of those?
Cruel prince is grim dark because of romanticised abuse. It is a mystery to me why so many people love it. Especially since it’s not even a good book aside from the problematic aspects. The writing is meh, the universe is meh, the characters are meh. And I say that as someone that loves Holly Black’s White Cat series and was expecting Cruel Prince’s release impatiently. Bought it on day one and sent it back on day one…
Thanks guys, Abercrombie has been mentioned in several places, thanks to you guys I'll give it a try! I love that your channel is full of love and kindness, glad I found your channels. Keep it up guys:)
It has nothing to do with fancasting, but there are two images of The Lord Ruler that have stuck with me. One is a black & white image by Ben McSweeney. You should be able to find it in the Rashek gallery on the Coppermind. The nonchalant yet threatening expression as spears stick out of him... Picturesque. Literally(?). The other is an AI image I found on RU-vid. I seem to have lost the video, but what I remember was an uncomfortably apt resemblance to classic Superman.
I believe Philip Froissant would be the perfect cast for Elend. I saw him in a show on Netflix called the Empress, he played the young emperor Franz Joseph, and he looked just like how I imagined Elend too look.
Oh its not that I don't want to, its just there is soooo much gold around these days that I am waiting till I can read the first 5 as Sanderson has said there will be a complete arc to his 10 book series in the first 5.. That said, may be a minute still as I own the first 3 and got so many other 'less' dense books via size and quantity. Ha!
Thank you so much for the open-mindness! I'm also a huge fantasy reader like you but I've judged mainstream titles harshly, especially The Cruel Prince. This video made me realize my blind scoffs for popular titles. A huge remainder for me. I'll be checking out TCP.
Feed, plague town, shining in the dark, alien novalization, Ararat, the only good indians, red dragon, emma, indiana jones and the mystery of Mount sinai
So glad Kaden liked TCP! Kaden, I hope you go on to read The Wicked King and Queen of Nothing. I rated TCP a 3.75/5 and the other two books 4.5! I definitely thought the series improved over time! If you do read them, make sure to look up the bonus content. Barnes and Nobles had a special edition years ago with bonus chapters or content. Those editions aren’t available anymore, but you can find the content online. It’s worth it to look it up! Ahhh, the letters from Cardan!!! IYKYK!
