Hello! I’m Matthew Peech. Owner and creator of Matthew Peech Woodworking And DIY.
I guess you could say I’ve been a “builder and maker” from the start… I was that kid that would asked Santa for lumber and tools instead of toys… The kid that loved the outdoors so much I had to be made to come inside. That passion grew along with me… and now my goal is to share it with the world by creating content to learn from, motivate, and simply let people know… ”You’ve Got This!”

I built two of the large planters and it cost me $240.😢 I used pressure treated 2x8s for the frame, cedar fence pickets where the dirt is and free pine for the bottom shelf. I also added a shelf on the side at the top for a work surface. I built these for Mothers Day and my mom was over joyed with them. Thanks for the plans.
I bought alot of your plans the other day including this one. Was wondering if you have a video on how to make your other style obelisk with the spiked top? I bought the plan but would love to see you build one.
That's not the way it's done, and it wont install tight like this. One needs to butt into the wall at a 90 degree angle, then the other piece will be coped to fit against it.
I'm having a hard time visualizing why you needed to bevel the miters for the top edge pieces... isn't the just making a slight gap on the underside of the miter joint?
Ironically I just finished building that today. Local big box store didn't have 5 1/2" bolts for the legs, soni had yo go with 6" and used a piece of 3/4" plywood as a spacer.
Great ideas as usual. For the firepit cover, I'd go one step further and put collapsible/folding legs on the bottom. That way you lift the cover up off the firepit, let the legs flip down and lock (somehow), and you've got a drink and food table between chairs while the fire burns. On the birdhouses, I would do them as a pair, one short, one tall. So instead of a buck each, it would really be more like $1.50 for the pair. Sell the pair for $25-$30.

Love your channel, love your detailed plans, and you genuinely want people to succeed. But a wooden anything to store a firearm is pretty dangerous. Just sayin'...
I've done this for years. The trick to it is to not place anything in the way of the shelves, or lean anything against them. That is harder than it sounds in a two car garage where you have mechanic tools, woodworking tools, metalworking plus storage... I still like the idea but it isn't all it is cracked up to be if you have a lot of stuff.
