Long-time scenario designer for Age of Empires 2, and, as of late, also part of the campaign team at Forgotten Empires. This channel sees rather sporadic activity, but when I do post you can expect videos primarily on scenario design. I occasionally post full cinematic scenarios, or showcase scenarios that focus on story and map design rather than fighting. When I post videos on scenarios made by other designers it is always with expressed permission from the original creator.
Just finished Jadwiga, and like it enough that after seeing Ornlu's recommendation on this video series. I binged them practically in one go. This campaign is a master piece, and also shout out to the script writing in the cut scene. I really like the palatable part, somehow it really packs a punch given the great performance of the voice actors (shout out to them too). Great job on the campaign and great video series.
I don't know if you were also the one behind Algirdas and Kestutis or Jan Zizka, but just saying that, these three campagins are my all-time favourite campaigns from the whole game. I played them on hard and even though I had some difficulty on beating the Vilnius defense one, I've never had so much fun as I had in this DLC
I know I am late but you are my new favourite campaign designer. I absolutely enjoyed both Jadwiga and Rajendra. And by the way, was the Tamar campaign made by you because it feels quite similar in design to your campaigns
Jadwiga's campaign is great, the only thing that it's missing is her leading the troops and conquering Ruthenia in 1387 (she was only 13 at that time).
I'm so happy that thanks to this more people will find out about Jadwiga. She was my hero when I was growing up. It's really interesting. She was crowned as king (not queen) of Poland at the age of 10/11. She spoke 6 languages and was a great diplomath - even her enemies admitted that it was impossible to get from her more that decided to give before. She was also able to lead troops into the battle like for example like in 1387 when she conqured Ruthenia (she was 13 at that time). She tripled the size of the kingdom by diplomacy, marriage and wars. And her marriage with grand duke of Lithuania - Jogaila was the most important marriage in history of Europe because thanks to it Poland and Lithuania were united under one crown for more than 400 years and the only reason why they broke up is because they were attacked and occupied by Russia, Prussia and Asutria. Sadly she passed away at the age of 25/26.
LordBasse and filthydelphia are the Dave Filoni and John Favreau of AoE II. Two fans who really know the material and know what the audience loves and wants and then they got to make the DLCs, so well deserved! Would be really cool in the future, if those other custom campaigns you made for the steam workshop thing to be included in a future DLC. Doesn't matter if they are historical or not. Gwyndlegard...so hard and different to the normal gameplay, but really showed what the sandbox design of the game gave players. It's not just a platform to make battles, but also some story telling based on small groups of heroes that walk across a huge map for sidequests.

OMG this video deserves more views! Jadwiga is hands down the most well designed campaign in the game. So many memorable moments coupled with challenging and fun gameplay. Thank you so so much LordBasse.
Just a question how do I make the Gaia Objects buildings to stop changing Ownership to Player 1 and stay in it's current form, because I'm trying to do a trigger to make Gaia stone walls to stay them into their Gaia form and it doesn't work for me or I might be bad at it?

Basse, it's impossible to launch on steam unfortunately. I tried everything and i am doing it correct. "File not found" is the campaign available even after the clean reinstall. Several people report the same. I desperately want to play the last chapter of the saga, is there anything that can be done? On DE it just crashes the game instantly.
This entire campaign was awesome. Probably my favorite. AoE 2's single player experience is incredible. From just messing around in skirmish mode (with cheats of course), to making your own pitched battles, to the crazy amount of campaigns, to the achievements...it just has so much even before you step into multiplayer.
This reminds me of the classic Mr.Danish tutorial. Also, you humble person you, mentioning all of those fantasy scenarios without mentioning your own amazing work that spans 3 entire campaigns/Campaign sized scenarios. Gwyndlengard is forever cemented in my memory
Hello I was wondering, what was the reference or reason to put the giant Sea Worm in the Bay of Bengal in Rising Star (Rajendra)? Was there something other than a recreation of the Vinlandsaga mechanic? Something anomalous?
It is indeed a reference to the Sea of Worms in Vinlandsaga, but here it's a Vritra (a monster mentioned in the story) rather than a sea dragon. Plus, it just looked cool!
You need 2 types of triggers : 1) Trigger 1 (Loop) - Condition : Unit has an action (example fighting) - Effect : Variable X = +1 (example Variable 1) 2) Trigger 2 (Normal or Loop) - Condition : Variable X = X (example 50) - Effect : Edit stats of the unit 2b) Trigger 3 (Loop) (this trigger is used if you want upgrading your unit multiple times - Condition : Variable X = X (example 50) - Effect : Variable X = 0
Great series! I honestly enjoyed looking at it. I would like to ask a irrelevant question though, I just bought AOE2 on cd and I installed it I can not play though as it keeps saying open as administrator but when I do that it does not work. I have looked all over the internet and found nothing, do you know anything that can help with this?
you have made one of the best campaigns in the history of aoe 2, one of top 2 campaigns imo adjacent by tamerlane, it actually inspired me to complete other campaigns as well
The wonders were a master stroke because it keeps the pressure up as you go through the scenario. really keeps you on the clock and stops you from just using the massive amounts of resources you get to just build a doom wall of castles to deal with the Golden Horde at the end. I will say it does mean that getting the achievement on Hard and completing the mission are extremely difficult to do in the one playthrough lol.
This is one of my favorite scenarios, both for the interesting gameplay (plenty of secondary objectives that do what they're supposed to without also derailing the basic gameplay) and not least for the visuals (!!!): it's a beautiful and very atmospheric autumn-style map (a very underutilized season, as is also commented upon in the video) that - crucially - does an excellent job at including mountainous terrain in a way that's more involved and interesting than merely dotting the map with Mountain-type Gaia sprites. Absolutely one of my favorite scenarios in this astoundingly long-lived (and still-fresh, even after so many years) gem of a game! Also: fun to see a fellow Scandinavian delivering the goods as far as top-notch scenarios go (judging from the accent, this guy must definitely be a Swede - way to go, Söta Bror!)
