its 8/13/24 i just traded in my 2017 impreza limited cvt with 170,000 for a 2017 manual wrx with only 64,000 miles get her for $17,000. im thrilled with the purchase.
It’s crazy I have the same year and color with nav. I wish I didn’t have nav cause I want double din 😭😭 I have most of the same issues you’re having like hatch not opening due to heavy duckbill, window doesn’t go down when it’s cold outside, seatbelt, etc.
As I continue in my search to hopefully find one of these soon, I've noticed quite a few of these being previous "fleet" vehicles. It seems odd to me that a Nismo would be a fleet vehicle though. Unless there is something I don't know about fleet vehicles...
I just bought a 2015 wrx prm. Not even a week later u had to take it to a dealer bc the intake hose slipped off the intercooler and I’m pretty sure it sucked in the rubber seal aswell
how has the gas mileage been on it? ive been offered to get a 2017 wrx sti but i dont have that much experience with a clutch transmission and its very scary im not gonna lie but i still want to consider get it. nice video man, definitely comin back!!!
The 370Z is a purist's sports car in terms of looks, layout, and handling. The WRX represents the next generation of technology with turbocharging and all wheel drive. Both are good for different reasons. Just my two cents, but the problem you described around the 9:20 mark sounds like a bad throw out bearing.
Thanks for the video. I have a 2023 WRX with 2000 miles on it now. I have the same issue with left knee pain and this is the only video I’ve come across which mentions it. I guess after 8 years they haven’t improved on that seating angle. Anyone have any suggestions? It takes away from the pleasurable experience of driving this car unfortunately. Other than that, I do love it
For anyone with a Nissan 350z / 370z who suffers the window glitch that his did where it goes up / down of its own accord with the door open, simply replace the door switches in each jam. My Nismo did this, replaced with a new switch which literally took 30 seconds and been good as gold ever since
I want to do exhaust work on my 2017 WRX but I don’t want to risk the popping sounds being too loud and terrorize the school I drop my son off at… Can’t even imagine cops get involved there
Very nice review. Although I have to agree with Doug Demuro. It doesn't deserve that price tag at all. Way way overpriced. The interior sucks so bad. I saw one at a dealership, liked the exterior, test drove it and the driving experience was good but the interior was an absolute deal breaker for me. It was listed for 40k and the interior looked straight from 09. Didn't even have a second cupholder and everything felt extremely cheap, plastic and like it's gonna break any minute now. It's really bad.
The shifter vibrates because it's directly attached to the transmission; it's totally normal. Your subaru uses shifter linkages, which explains why you dont feel anything.
Can someone tell me what model of exhaust this gemini catback is? ive seen several different videos of the dual gemini catback and this one sounds louder than the others and there is no link in the description
These cars do have a throw out bearing issues from 2015 to 17 there is a TSB out by subaru. They have bad grease that cant stand heat. My wrx has these issue it is a 17 WRX with only 13k i hhad this sounds. You can grease the clutch fork and fix the issue but this car is amaing. dont pushhh over 350 crank with stock block and get a stage 2 clutch good car for long time
Wow lots of complaints. I bought a 2015 new, had it to 150,000 miles plus. You're right about the AC, but no problems at all other than routine maintenance. Loved the car, traded it for a 2020 new. Presently at 55,500 miles no issues. Yes it's a subaru based on the rally platform, it's not quiet.
Your rev match complaint is lame, I’ve never had a problem with my rev match and it’s always smooth. Of course it wouldn’t rev match if your below 2k because it wouldn’t rev match such a low rpm. The steering wheel for me is leather and I love it, also the stiffness of it in +R is perfect for tracking the car. The lower back support on the seats I agree 100%. The wheel offset is made purposely for 2 things first being rocks flying and hitting your paint as second for the torque steer when hitting it.
I've driven an FK8 a few times, and what I don't like about its auto rev matching is that it won't do it going down into 1st. The two situations I like to rev match into 1st is super slow stop and go traffic, and for rolling stops at stop signs and free right turns. Otherwise, while I agree with the sentiment that auto-rev matching should just always work anywhere in the rpm range, I admittedly can't fathom why you would ever want to let your rpms go below 2k unless you're bumming around in 1st gear, or slowing to a stop from 2nd. Personally, I almost never let this type of manual car get below about 24-2500, especially in something that's turbocharged, that way if and when I want some power sooner rather than later, I don't have to simultaneously hurt my turbo by it asking for more power than it can currently give me. Being rude to the turbocharger aside, I'd say the proper cruising rpm range in a car like this is going to be 2 to 3k, and I'd personally always be much closer to 3k than 2k. Do that, and you'd of course never have an issue. It wouldn't surprise me if Honda figured people generally aren't trying cruise around below 2k rpms, because it really doesn't make sense to.
Great video I just purchased my 2015 WRX Premium 3 Months ago with only 76K on the odometer, Clean title no accidents and two previous owners it's that beautiful pearl white metallic with the black emblems and trim and of course it's a 6 speed manual cuz only a fool would opt for the CVT on a car like this. The asking price was already below listed value at $12,500 but I got and additional discount of over a grand and managed to get $3k for my old trade that I kept meticulous care of like all my vehicles so after my haggling (I was also a trained and licensed auto sales and financing specialist many years ago) I drove it away for only $8805 out the door including all taxes and license and registration fees. It's in great shape and I fully inspected it with a fine tooth comb at the huge auto service and repair shop where I am the general manager and of course it needed a Lil love with simple general maintenance work and it did need a couple larger repairs on things that were ok at first but became apparent awhile down the road and I wasn't the least bit upset about it cuz I expected if to need a Lil work at the price I got it for but as the manager at a very large auto repair and service shop I was able to take care of everything she needed for damn near next to nothing (no I never did anything shady to get such a deal on all the work she got lmao!) Cuz I am able to source any part I need from a plethora of parts suppliers at my beckon call and get them for well below wholesale and tax free and have them delivered right to me also for free and all the labor I did myself outside working hours and threw a few bucks to some of my gents to help on some of the labor outside business hours that way they can earn a Lil extra cash on the side.but for $2200 bucks I was able to do it all including a much needed complete full synthetic oil and filter change with a professional BG engine flush and restoration kit, change every vital fluid including coolant and brake fluid exchanges, change the gear oil in the rear axle and front diff/transmission, install a dry high flow panel air filter, replace all brake pads and rotors with very top shelf high carbon upgraded pads and rotors all around, install four brand new ultra premium tires, have a couple of complete professional GDI fuel system and carbon cleaning services, replace the front passenger seat belt and retractor assembly that became stuck, all new OEM spark plugs and just to be safe four all new OEM ignition coils, new serpentine belt, four all new amazing Bilstein B6 struts with all new OEM coils from the dealer, the entire a/c system was replaced because the old one failed a few months after getting it including new OEM compressor, new complete condenser and receiver drier assembly, new expansion valve, all brand new high and low pressure lines and of course all new seals and the whole works except the evaporator core, and because just like he said in the video my throwout bearing was also going out I replaced the entire clutch kit and a new flywheel and slave cylinder all from Exedy the OEM clutch brand and the 7.4 hours labor to do the job and of course I also upgraded to all LED exterior lighting and all just $2200 bucks and a few cents lol. Now she truly Is a brand new WRX and it was only a total of about $11k for the car and all the love me and my boyz at my shop put into her. Obviously the last owners were a bit hard on her but I knew what was expected of it and having a 2015 WRX that looks new, runs new, is completely leak and rust free. CA car it was nothing I couldn't handle myself with some help from my guys and only $11K into it she's like brand new and i own her outright pink slip in hand I think that's a sweet deal I'm just lucky I'm in an industry I not only love but get all my car care needs for barely pennies on the dollar I truly am fortunate. Wrexs for life!!!!!
Oh and I Also replaced the battery with a new AGM battery, replaced the washer fluid reservoir, I went this far I don't wanna leave out any juicy details lmfao 😂
this car has very harsh ride quality. the seats are so hard and dont have enough cushion so you will eat every dip and bump. if you road trip in this car, your lower back will hurt badly
