The blues is the only genre of music that knows no boundaries…no racial divide, no social class, no limitations. We’ve all felt it, we’ve all lived it, we all know it. No BS politics; just American
Ace, Eddie, Joe, Steve (Vai), Steve (Howe), Lerxst, Eric (Clapton), Eric (Johnson), Slash ... whatever your idea of a "guitar hero" is. Can any of them play with the same intensity with the guitar behind their back? If this was audio only you would never know that Stevie had his guitar behind his back or that he broke a string. That's how good SRV was. We were blessed by his music for a short time and we will never see that level of guitar playing again.
Seemed like any guitar 🎸 in his hands would almost do anything to cooperate with the man. Unreal! Sad he passed after getting sober; no telling where he may have steered music.
That Steve Ray Vaughan paying tribute demonstrates the monstrous and grandiose nature of Jimi Hendrix. I listen to other guitarists considered the best, but no one comes close to the style of these two
Stevie, Jimi, Ronnie, Elvis, Janis, Jim, John L....victims of that reality that we all know about...being taken early...it seems so unfair. We can only imagine them growing old. Bless them for what they did give us when they were here.
Some people say that there is his El Mocambo show in 4k remastered, if anyone has it and can send it to me? my dream is to see that show with better quality
Daryl Somers, and John Blackman; assuredly being behind the on screen texts, are being incredulous as ever here. Recently deceased Blackman had his moments on the Paul Hogan Show but neither of them had anywhere near the talent that Stevie had in his little finger for this show, despite it being one of his lesser performances at the time. Hey Hey it's Shaturday has had a history of being disrespectful and ignorant to new talent that skews from the norm (TISM for one) and I wouldn't mind the show being deleted from my memory as a whole. This said I remain respectful to (in order) Plucka Duck, Wilbur Wilde, and Red Symons. I apologize for the long post and probably sounding like a loony, in summary i'm drunk and miss SRV.
Teacher, how do I comp? Watch this. Teacher, how do I play chords and solo? Watch this. Teacher, how do I support a bass lead? Watch this. Teacher, how do I just cut loose and solo? Watch this.
SRV wrote this song for the guy who built the guitar that SRV is playing in this performance, Charley Wirz. He owned a guitar shop in Dallas and used to lend SRV gear when he was coming up and had no money. They were good friends up until Charley passed away.
