This is still, so far, one of the best video and sound pack which demonstrate the capabilities of the MODX/Montage engine ; it offers a lot ! It's a super great work here.
I was torn to buy the MODX because 99,9% of the YT videos are pianos or plastiky sounds, then I've found your videos full of emotional and organic sounds (my style). I was looking at the Polybrute but it would have jeopardized my savings. Thanks a lot !!!
If you use midi channels to trigger the audio you can have it start at absolute zero by using the midi to trigger the audio that's feeding into the MPC.
Hello and first of all thank you for the interesting video! Most RU-vidrs only show things with drums and bass tracks and so on. I have now also bought a QY70 and it will certainly arrive in a few days. and would like to use it more than a synthesizer rack, i.e. select sounds from the various tracks and save them as an empty song and then control the individual sounds live with a midi keyboard. I assume you do something similar? I'm going to take another look at your other videos and see if I can learn as much from them 😉 Thanks again and have a nice time 👍
Re MODX I'd like to learn how to hook it up with Ableton Live like you did on one of your other videos (to send midi to multiple parts on the synth at the same time). But now that you've introduced me to QY it might be fun to combine QY with MODX. Cheers.
Just got a modx+ yesterday and am already blown away. I'm coming from a Korg Kross workstation which was incredibly hard to use. I was frustrated with the Korg Kross i listed it on reverb. To my surprise it sold at full price in just one day. But i was now without a synth workstation. So i looked into what was available in my price range I wanted a montage or prophet but went with the modx7+ I got a great deal on it. Payed just over $1000 for it. But im blown away by the power of this thing. I can do anything I can think of with it. Now i discovered I can download new voices and patches for it. Im super happy with my purchase now. thank you for this amazing video showing me even more of what its capable of.

Have you ever looked at an Atari ST ? For years they were the mainstay of professional MIDI sequencing, with both Steinberg and eMagic (who got bought by Apple) releasing some of their first software for the ST.
A shame the CX5M doesn't have a floppy drive. There were Yamaha MSX (2 ?) computers that did. You could get external MSX floppy drives back in the 1980s but in my experience they were more expensive than the computers themselves as they had the Disc OS in the drive. Re the C1, imagine hooking that up to a TX816 🙂
Thanks! Doing great (and mostly not making YT content rn :D). So the QY 100 is different from the Korg Volca series in that the QY's strength is in it's midi composition/sequencing engine. The QY100 is really powerful if you use it as a MIDI brain, and then send it's midi to Volca Keys, FM, etc. and then use the Volcas as your sound source. So I'd say one doesn't replace the other, but rather they do different jobs and work really well together.
The packs will include performances that consist of voices and arps/sequences. But you can take any of the performances and edit them, so if you just wanted the sounds/voices from a performance, you can save a copy of the performance and delete everything else. Hope that helps!
How do you insert these events at the very beginning of the edit mode if you also have a note event at measure 1 beat 0? Even if I insert from the "Top" cell, it always goes to the second row.
You have to edit the number in the first column that represents the beat and "tick" or "frame" that the note sounds on. Each beat on the QY has 480 frames/ticks so you just change the first note event from 1:000 to 1:1:001 and then set the "play in mono mode" event to 1:000. So it's after the first note, but the difference is not really audible. Hope that helps!
I had to buy it again, never liked my tablet with Cubase, I've sold my QY 100 cheap before, nobody wanted it, now it costs double and it took a year to get one. It seems that one should keep it, even if you don't use it for years, there's nothing like the QY series out there. (Forget the apps, lol)

I don't have the unit to check right now, but I'm pretty sure it has full midi pass-through, so you connect midi to the R-DX and then it connects midi to the DX.

I own a KM608 and the Chorus is absolut great. It is very saddle and this make the effect so unique. It add something to the sound i call "Magical Touch" or "Fairy Dust". It is not the typical "widening" effect from other Chorus effects, for me it bring more focus to the instrument in a way i can not discribe in words.
