I'm more the "Standalone" guy when it comes to play my MODX ... but this is the kind of tutorial video that should be around more often... not takin' it too seriously when it doesn't work out at first instance ... that's what it is all about... tryin' !!!
Ah, cool! The MODX pattern sequencer + arps + linear midi recorder are a pretty cool combo all their own! Thanks for appreciating my approach and taking the time to say so :)
If you use midi channels to trigger the audio you can have it start at absolute zero by using the midi to trigger the audio that's feeding into the MPC.
If I use the modx as my audio interface for the MPC, won't that make the inputs and outputs of the MPC redundant? Would I still be able to hear the music through monitors that are connected to the MPC?
Awesome! I’m pretty excited about the possibilities of setting up a really nice multichannel recording workflow. even being able to track layers fo the same part separately will be handy. Glad you found it useful!
@@cdot803 one thing to check maybe: do you have the “allow arming of multiple tracks” setting enabled in MPC Live? I think it’s under “midi” in settings?
@@thebrackett idk what I was doing wrong. I got it working tho. Recorded 3 tracks at the same time. I had to normalize them to bring up the sound but it worked perfectly!
@@cdot803 okay! Nice 👍 glad u got it working. Yeah, I had to work to get the gain right too, I did a little compression and level boosting on from the MODX but should be pretty much same diff to do it from normalisation on the MPC side since it’s just digital to digital and skipping the preamps of either unit, I think. Happy tracking!
